Has anyone used Amazon Prime? I had a free trial a year or so ago but just cancelled after the trial was over. I'm thinking of buying it but $79 seems high. However, it would be nice not to always have to reach that $25 for free shipping. Also, their free shipping seems to take forever.

I may try to convince my sister to share a membership. Anyone have experience with Prime? Do you think it's worth it?

We had a prime membership for a year. DH signed up for the free trial and forgot to cancel . . .

It was ok, but I didn't end up renewing.

I found I shopped on Amazon a lot more, simply because I had free shipping. We did a bunch of our Christmas shopping on line that year and it was very nice to be able to send things directly to the recipients without having to worry about the $25 limit and time required for delivery.

But there is quite a bit on Amazon that isn't eligible for prime, so I spent a lot of time hunting for things shipped through Amazon, and they weren't always the lowest price. In the end we probably broke even on the cost of the membership.

If I was going to do it again, I would definitely go in with a family member. For $40 a year, it would be much more worthwhile.

I have been a member for two years. The upgrade to free 2nd day shipping is nice expecially around christmas. I figure I have made out on the deal with all the items I purchase around the holidays alone.

I have done it for the past two years, I am not sure that I will do it when it expires in November though. I do think I have saved money on shipping, but I think that I probably buy more that I would have (and at a possibly higher price). It does come in really handy at Christmas though.

I've had Prime since it started and I love it. I think I save money, too. BUT, I shopped a lot on Amazon anyway. Before Prime I found myself buying fillers to get to the $25 free shipping mark.

Plus, if there is just a little something I need or want (for example a $10 book), I can order it and stay away from the retail stores where I am always tempted to to buy something else. Yes, there are temptations on Amazon, but for me it is less so. I rarely check the Gold Box Deals.

It's great to receive items in two days (especially during the holidays). There have been a few times when I needed something overnight and $3.99 is acceptable on those rare situations.

:thumbsup2 from me.

I believe you can have up to 4 people on your Amazon Prime membership. I'm in a shared membership and only cost each of us $16.00.

We've had it for two years and love it! It is so convenient. I just order anything I want and the item(s) arrive in two days.

I got prime for the first time back in October '07, and I love it. I order a lot from Amazon, so it is great getting the items in 2 days (usually) and not having to wait to place an order if I want free super saver shipping and don't have the $25 minimum needed. It more than paid for itself with Christmas shopping alone.

Thanks all - I decided to try it for a year! I'll have two kids in college this fall so I can send them a package now and then.
