I didn't even think about this till I saw it elsewhere.... is ordering some food and having it delivered to the hotel a good option for Disney? (I'm a prime member) will the Dolphin Hotel allow a package delivery for us?

I am not sure about the Dolphin. Just wanted to say though that we have had food delivered from both Amazon and Walmart. As well as packed quite a bit to take with us. I prefer that over the local grocery delivery services.

I'm thinking on trying this on our upcoming trip. They seem to be the only retailer that offers Diet Coke. Can't beat the prices. Wondering about timing...:rolleyes2

I have done 6 Prime Pantry boxes, over the past months, and I really enjoy them both for home & hotel delivery. I would caution that they aren't as fast as regular Prime. They take 3-6 business days.

When we had 2 damaged items, they replaced the.whole $115 box! We are well set on those.items.

I'm planning to use Pantry to ship two boxes to CSR in September. But I'm glad to know that I should order a week ahead of time. I was going to do 3 days thinking it would ship in the regular 2 day Prime.

I am going to GFVs from September 20-28,2014.
I always use the outside grocery service but also have Prime (well, my mom does and she is going).
Am I able to order cold items that need to be refrigerated? I assume I cannot order alcohol so would need to make a pit stop for that since we are getting picked up by car, not ME.
Thank you very much for letting me know.

I've used Prime Pantry twice to have water (mostly) delivered to Disney and have been very happy with it. Unless you need produce or alcohol I can't see how local delivery/prices are better. No product upcharging and very affordable delivery fee ($5.99) with no minimum!! I too caution that it take longer.

My two orders looked like this:

Ordered May 19/Delivered (to POP) May 23

Ordered July 31/Delivered (to SSR) August 6

Can someone explain how to enter info on the shipping label so that the Disney resorts know who it's for?

You may want to consider the on-site gas stations/convenience stores (currently operated by Hess and most likely going to Speedway when Hess leaves the business) -- their prices for stuff such as Diet Coke is actually very good.

Plus, only Coca-Cola products are sold on Disney property...

Have it shipped to the physical address in which your hotel is located (NOT the "one-size-fits-all" General Delivery address) -- if UPS/FedEx Ground is handing the shipment, you should be able to get it at the resort...

You can call the resort and they'll tell you exactly how to address it. You need things like arrival date that I would have never thought of.

I tried having water shipped to Poly once and included arrival date and res # on the shipping label. Poly CMs could't find it anywhere and turned out they refused it, had it shipped back to Costco. I was refunded the purchase price but we were disappointed to not have a case of water as we expected. This was in late Aug 2011.

If you're staying in a resort that has a convention center associated with it, be aware that there might be a fee associated with receiving a package. Packages at these resorts usually come in through the Business Center rather than the front desk. The package handling fee structure for the Business Centers is as follows:

  • Envelope: $3.00
  • Small Box: $3.00 (up to 4 lbs)
  • Med Box: $5.00 (5 lbs – 20 lbs)
  • Large Box: $10.00 (21 lbs – 70 lbs)
  • Golf Club: $10.00
  • Display Cases: $15.00
  • Pallets: $70.00 per 100 lbs

Resorts with a convention center are:
  • Contemporary
  • Yacht Club
  • Beach Club
  • Boardwalk
  • Grand Floridian
  • Coranado Springs

Swan and Dolphin also have a Business Center, but I don't know for sure if these fees are charged there.

Whenever this topic comes up for conversation, there are always mixed reports. Some guests seem to get their packages without having to pay the fees, others confirm that they were charged. It's a third-party vendor that runs these, so if your packages wind up there, don't rely on being able to talk them out of the fee. Definitely something to keep in mind when you're figuring out your overall costs.

Here's the information from Disney's FAQ on mail services:

Disney said:
Receiving Mail
Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels can receive mail during their stay. Occasionally, some Guests choose to ship items in advance of their vacation to help save luggage space.

If you intend to receive mail during your vacation, be sure the receiving letter or package:

  • Includes the mailing address of the Disney Resort Hotel
  • Clearly features the word “Guest” on the front and the date of the recipient’s arrival at the hotel

Hi.

I am interested in doing this for my upcoming September 20 trip but have two questions:

1. Can I choose my delivery date.

2. Can I order items that need to be refrigerated?

Thank you all so much!

No, you cannot choose your delivery date. From what I've read, delivery is made 3-6 days after the order is submitted. And you cannot purchase items that require refrigeration. (which you can see by browsing the items available)

I plan on using it for water, juice pouches and diet coke along with a few snack to completely fill one box.

I just did this at POR. Worked fine. I got a case of diet coke, a case of water and some snacks. I didn't read the size on the twizzlers and they turned out to be 4 lbs! Gave those to the hotel staff. It was convenient and easy
