Amazon Prime Now delivery failure FYI

So we tried the Amazon Prime now for the first time this trip. We had about 15 items and one was a bottle of red wine. They gave us a 4-6 pm window for delivery. We waited as long as possible but had a 6:15 dinner res at Trex. The driver called right as we were getting on the bus. Said he needed to see an ID to make the delivery. I asked if he could just take it to bell services. I had asked them earlier if they could accept deliveries with alcohol. Girl at the GF said yes, we do it all the time we are all over 21. So while we are on the bus Amazon calls me twice saying they can't deliver the order without seeing my ID. Told them to deliver to bell services and they said ok. I get another call about 10 minutes later different operator same problem. I asked what the problem was and they wouldn't deliver without seeing my id. I asked if they could just deliver everything but the wine, and they said sure. I get an email about 5 minutes later saying they could not deliver my order. We get back from dinner, no groceries, I called bell services and they said they had nothing for us. Called Amazon and they said they returned the order and were issuing a refund, which they did. So we had to order the whole thing again, this time no wine. They delivered it to bell services the next morning no problem. So, despite my best effort and even asking the hotel, beware if you are ordering alcohol and possibly not going to be there to show them you're ID.

I'm surprised any delivery service would deliver alcohol and leave with bell services without seeing the actual purchaser's ID.

Do the rules state someone must be 21 to accept order, or the person who purchased must be 21 and show proof of ID?

When Amazon Prime Now delivers to bell services, does the hotel charge a fee to you? I'd tip bell services, but not interested in a package fee too ;) Thanks.

There was no fee, i tipped the bell guy when he brought the bags. Also tipped the Amazon driver the recommended amount. I am not sure what the exact rules are, I did a quick search last week on here and thought most people didn't have any issues. I asked the GF folks and they said they accept them all the time. Now we know, I just don't get why they took the whole order back.

Had similar problem mid October, beer was involved. At the boardwalk bell services called me to say an amazon courier was delivering an order. This was our second order that week because they sent the wrong beer the first time. We were not at the resort when the second delivery came. The bell services CM did not much want to show his ID but finally agreed to. He told us afterwards to just give them a heads up before any future delivery. Regardless, we were told all deliveries had to be made at bell services not by meeting the amazon purchaser. Amazon prime now started delivering alcohol this past May. Clearly they don’t have all the kinks worked out. Our delivery the first night was almost 2 hours after the end of the delivery window (8-10 pm delivery window, delivered at 11:45 pm). The cold items (dairy and meat) were mostly in the insulated bags but no ice packs were in the bags. The courier could not speak English so she could not communicate with us or even with the amazon customer service rep I called because the delivery was so late. It was a Saturday night but it was still a fail. I received both refunds for a couple items and a promotional credit but I would have preferred to get back the time I wasted.

The amazon customer rep said they have hired a lot of people in orlando and there needs to be more training for new staff. Growing pains I guess.

From what I saw this past trip amazon prime now deliveries and Uber rides are both in much demand.

So much for the Disney bubble.

I had an issue in July with an Amazon Prime Now order that involved a bottle of wine and a few other things. I left very clear instructions when I ordered for the delivery person to call me upon arrival to our resort, and I would come to sign for the wine. I made sure I chose a time when we would be at the resort and available. The delivery window came and went, and I never got a phone call. I went to bell services and discovered that my other items had been delivered. I later got an email from Amazon saying that I had not been present for delivery, and my wine had been returned and a credit issued to me. I was annoyed this happened, but at least I got the rest of what I had ordered! I’m sorry this happened to you. Seems like Amazon needs to make sure delivery drivers to Disney understand that they need to call the customer for delivery of alcohol. The delivery driver never even attempted to call me. I wonder if they tried to get bell services to sign. I ended up buying a bottle of wine from the gift shop at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was more expensive than what I’d originally ordered, but it was a much better wine!

It’s confusing that there is a delivery instructions section specifically for you to say where to meet you. I also put, meet you in front of the portico at the boardwalk, the address of the resort, etc. and I had my ID in hand. You can track the location of the courier on the ap and she was stuck for over an hour in one location. Maybe the tracking thing isn’t accurate. Amazon prime now isn’t available where I live, but I have ordered lots of things from amazon prime, many college textbook rentals for DD, etc.

Maybe things will improve in Orlando but one of the bell services guys made a curious remark about sketchy couriers and recommended Garden Grocer. Sounded like he had seen some issues. We also typically run to Target for fresh fruit and anything else that hits our fancy. It was really nice to have the case of water handled by bell services so we will definitely give it another try.

We prefer Garden Grocer for this reason. If alcohol is involved you must upload your license for verification ahead of time. Delivery is a breeze.

Sorry it was a pain for you, not fun to deal with in vaca.

One of the bell services guys said something similar to me about the Amazon Prime Now couriers. Last year something that was delivered by Prime Now got lost. The guy at bell services told me that Garden Grocer has a specific place where they deliver to, but Prime Now just puts things anywhere and mine was not the first order he’d seen that went missing. I haven’t used Prime Now since the non-delivery of my bottle of wine. I’m sticking with Garden Grocer unless there’s something we absolutely must have that’s only available from Prime Now.

So you have ordered from Garden Grocers at Disney and had the order delivered to Bell services?

Another vote for Garden Grocer. We place a big order with them every time we go, including beer, and never need to be there to receive it in person because of them allowing me to simply upload a picture of my drivers license after placing the order.

Same here, we’ve never had an issue getting alcohol delivered from Garden Grocer.
