Amazon, Netflix Cut Deals With Disney's ABC

Licensing agreements will allow streaming video from television network's content.

Amazon.com and Netflix both announced licensing agreements with Walt Disney's Disney-ABC Television Group today that will allow streaming video users access to various content from ABC Studios, Disney Channel and ABC Family. The licensing agreements include both new and 'library' content. Netflix's agreement was largely an extension of its prior deal, while Amazon's is a new licensing agreement. The two have some in close competition lately with their streaming movie and TV offerings. Both also compete with streaming video from Dish Network's Blockbuster and Walmart's Vudu.

Good timing since Google is coming out with 100 online channels soon. They're finally catching on that the future does not nescessarily involve cable companies. Now, if only the movie studios will catch on and start offering their stuff online without a middle man ...
