Hey budget buddies! I'm expecting my first baby in December and am thinking about joining Amazon Mom. Any suggestions on how to maximize the discounts? Any way to add additional coupons/codes? TIA!!

You get the one month extension for each $25 purchase - so never buy two $25+ items in a single order - space those out over at least one day and you'll get the extra month for both instead of just one. (Unless they credit each $25 as a separate month regardless, I can't really tell, we've only been doing it for less than a month ourselves!)

And it isn't just baby stuff - once you are in you get the free 2-day shipping on any Prime eligible item - movies, books, hardware, sporting goods, housing... whatever.

Just make sure you know your free Mom end date or they'll charge you in the end to keep it going - $79 per year.

This isn't correct. If you spend $100 in one order, you still get four more months. Mine was extended for the maximum amount of time (a year I believe) when I bought my son's car seat.

I got a 3 month trial last fall which started in October, so it was definitely great to get that 2 day free shipping! I used it for sending gifts to a lot of folks. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I don't have a baby, so I don't buy diapers and things to extend the subscription. So it ended, but that Prime membership was awesome! I hope you got the trial? If not check out Amazon and you should find a place that offers you the 3 month trial.

Right, they will take your overall expenditures - not $25 each order :) You can earn up to a year. Mine expires in October - I had earned myself an entire year.

DO make sure your purchases are marked as sold/fulfilled by Amazon. Anything from a 3rd party will not count!

Great for doing subscribe and save for diapers or ordering toys/nursery/gear. I have ordered most of DD's stuff through Amazon this past year.

My year ends sometime in September...better go check that, actually. When my year ends, DH is signing up. We love it for diapers, diaper genie refill rings, and overnight diapers. I have all of those on subscribe and save and it's been enough to get me the whole year.

The 2 day free shipping has turned me into an Amazon junkie. 90% of the time, they can get it to me before I can get it to the store, and usually at a cheaper price than I could find on my own.

I love it!

Oh, and FYI, they won't charge you when your time expires. This is from their FAQ page:

What happens when the three months of FREE Two-Day Shipping with Amazon Prime end--will I be charged?

• No, you will not be charged anything. If you earned additional months of free shipping benefits by spending in the Baby Store, then your free shipping benefits will be extended by the appropriate amount. If you did not earn additional months, then the free shipping benefit will simply end. You can always join Amazon Prime at the normal subscription price.

That's good. All of the other Prime trials they do automatically enroll you for the full $79. I just assumed they'd do the same with the Mom program.

And as a Dad I'd prefer Amazon Parent to Amazon Mom. I'm not a Mom. :thumbsup2

Same here! I ordered my older DD 2 Coolibar swimsuits through Amazon and got 4 extra free months of Prime because of it:thumbsup2 The price was the same as ordering from the Coolibar site so the Prime was a bonus. I am hooked on the 2 day shipping. It's so easy, no tax on the items, and I don't have to burn $$$ gas going to the store. Love it!! I'll probably end up paying the $79 to extend my Prime membership when it runs out. It's worth it to me.

Question, I had the free Prime trial through Amazon Mom. It expired, but I still get the amazon mom emails. Next month I'm going to be buying all the crap we don't get for on shower that is left on our Amazon registry. Will it automatically start the prime up again after I buy everything (I will definitely buy more than enough to get the maximum year free)?
