I am not persecuting anyone, I never called anyone a bad name or tried to make anyone feel bad, I was only calling it the way I see it. I see more bad attitudes and sportsmanship from other people than from them. That's just me, I kinda like them I feel bad for them for loosing their dad and I think that it's good for them to be so open about their faith and praying everyday. There is nothing wrong with praying and asking for help in the race. I don't care if everyone here likes them, it doesn't matter to me, it is just TV for goodness sake. But because I said something different from everyone else here people are immediately going to jump down my thoart and throw accusations at me, for what reason?
I never condemned or persecuted anyone here because you don't like them, I just said what I felt because for goodness sake this IS a discussion board. I am sorry to ruffle everyones feathers.

Right---but by saying that we hate them b/c they are Christian.

It's like saying a Jewish person not liking another Jewish person---"well it must be b/c they are Jewish".

A white person hating the Ku Klux Klan--"well--they are a bunch of white people"

A black person hating Oprah because "Man--she's black...that must be what makes her high and mighty".


What you have is a very diverse discussion board filled with Christians and non-christians....and this thread has many of both....and many on both sides--dislikes the Weaver family. Oddly enough--for quite similar reasons.

To say we don't like them because they are Christian...is just not factually correct. And the very thing you are saying about persecuted christians and such--is silly....b/c your preaching to the proverbial choir.

You have it ALL wrong! And that is probably why every little last prayer they do is edited it in---so that they are painted as a "persecuted Christian" when in fact they are just horrible people from tragic circumstances who happen to be Christian. It's almost like they are a walking oxymoron.

I am bowing out of the Christian discussion...b/c it is rediculous. It is a tv show. We are entitled to like who we want to and to dislike the others.

The thread isn't worth getting closed over.

I'm going to "be the bigger person" and just....walk away.

HOwever--next week...when the Weavers misbehave again, I am reserving my right to post about it and to not like it .

I felt so bad for the little one.....she was doing a good job of holding back the tears.

I really liked the Gaghans and thought that the kids were sweethearts. The kids thought that they were better than everyone else? Ummm, OK.

As for the Weavers being persecuted for being Christians, how does anyone know that the other teams aren't Christian too? I would bet that at least a few are Christians but just like in real life, they don't go running around praying about everything.

All of this over a TV show.

I can't quite grasp why the other teams hate the Weavers so much, but I'm assuming there have been things that occurred behind the scenes. The Weavers also said they were raised to not trust others but to look within their own family and to God for guidance. That attitude probably doesn't endear them to the other teams. Plus, as a Catholic, I would never consider praying to win a game, but Notre Dame fans do it every Saturday during football season.

Personally, I can't stand the daughters who are disrespectful to their dad and the Paolo boys who are disrespectful to their mom.

And yes Christians are persecuted all the time. Everytime a Christian says they don't agree with something that is considered "appropriate" in the world today they are immediately bashed for their beliefs.

Maybe Christians are persecuted SOME of the time, but I think it depends on how verbal they are. I am a Christian also, and I don't feel that when I disagree with something that is "innapropriate" in the world today, that my Christian beliefs are even discussed, let alone "bashed for their beliefs". I think if you disagree with something, it doesn't need to have anything to do with religion at all. Right is right, and wrong is wrong, whether you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or whatever else. Your religion shouldn't have anything to do with it.

I just have to say,I think the word *persecution* is being used rather liberally around here. Picked on maybe..Persecuted..When I hear that word I picture,Pograms, Crusades,Burnings,Forced conversions..Being thrown into the lions den or having to build a Priest Hole in your dining room

That's nonsense. Christians are the majority in the U.S. and it shows. The people propagating this silly Christian persecution complex are the Christian right media, like Focus on the Family.

So, you can't have organized prayer in public school classes or the Ten Commandments in the town square, big deal. How does that effect the feeling you have for God in your heart? If you are a true Christian, it does not, and if you want more religion in your lives, send your kids to private school. I do.

They little kids didn't whine or complain, they just had this attitude about them, like they were so much better then everyone else.

Now, let's talk about the Weaver kids/teens, they are NASTY.

Um... I am not 'persecuting' the Weavers because they are Christian.

1) I am Christian.
2) They are rude, obnoxious, self righteous, and hypocrytical.

That is why I don't like the Weavers.

But did anyone notice that with the season with Rob/Amber, every time THEY came in first, they got a trip. There were several legs in the race where others came in first and didn't get anything. This really annoyed me. Gotta like some of the cool prizes this time ... the fun "vehicles" last night were cool, and I especially liked the "gas for life for licensed drivers". I think that's worth waaayy more than the million bucks!

I remember one of the seasons where the first place winners were getting digital cameras, I think. Big Whoop on that one!

Yes, I think the Weavers are rude, but they are 3 teenagers that have had to deal with more in life than most by that awful age. Maybe the Mom should have put a stop to it sooner, but maybe she was so exhausted that she didn't have the mental energy to do so. They're not my favourite team, in fact, I'm not sure I even have a favourite team now. I did like the little kids. For them to stay in the race as long as they did when they were at an obvious disadvantage during the more physical type challenges is amazing.

I truly think though that the Weavers may have done/said something that they chose to edit out that really ticked off the other teams. Doesn't add up that EVERYONE was wanting to yield them.

I saw the Early Show today and the family was great. The mom says that she dreams of red beans all the time and said that is was her fault that they lost. The whole family was supportive and the boy said that the centrifuge at the Space Center was the highlight for him. The dad spoke about how they watched the previous races and he showed the kids that yelling at somebody doing a task only makes things worse. The had taught the kids to be supportive in those situations, not increase the stress level.

I have always liked them and I liked how they handled themselves in the interview. While I didn't like that Dad's language at the bungee jump, I thought they did a great job at staying together as a team and a family.
