OH NO!!! The Paolo's made it!

Not fair!

Yes, but they are quite entertaining!! :rotfl:

I was good this week and didn't have the computer on while I was watching. ;) I still managed to miss one thing though. The detour at the end, was it a choice between the lamps and injured tasks? If so, which ended up being the better choice?

It was either, depending on your physical capabilities. The dad/daughters team made a poor choice by taking the injured off the field. They would have gone alot faster filling the lamps with oil.

I was surprised the father/mother son/daughter team did the physical detour. They are driven.

Boy that family from NY sure do like to fight...what's up with that?

BTW, another family called them the "Jersey Family" again @@

Oooh that Paolo mother complaining how her kids have no respect for her. Hmmmm, I wonder why that is? I don't find them entertaining at all. I want them gone. Then I want the praying family gone. Praying over every little minute detail really makes me question their sincerity. And several people have complained about the sisters screaming. I haven't noticed that. I've only noticed the Weavers (praying family) squealing and shreiking. I also can't believe the Gaghans took so long to find the clue. They said they were looking for two hours. You would think they would go back and look at the clue again after looking for so long.

The other thing I didn't understand about the Gaghans was that the son kept saying 'let's ask someone' and the parents said no. :confused3 I didn't get that at all. Was it pride? I really like them a lot, don't get me wrong, but that confused me. Maybe they didn't want to encourage their little kids to run up and talk to strangers?

Just thought to look for this thread, yay! :flower:

I thought that was weird too, I thought I heard one of the parents say they couldn't ask, but I think it was more that they didn't want to. I like them too, but if I were walking around DC for 2 hours I would ask someone! :earseek:

I forgot which family said it but as they were on their way to DC someone asked what state Washington DC is in and then another family member answered Washington. Give these folks a map of the United States

Tonight's show was much better than last week but still not as good as the other Amazing Races.

I definitely don't like this season as much as others, but since they were in my husband's home state and then my home area (since DC is not a state, LOL) I am watching. It's very cheesy though. The tasks and excitement are just not the same.

For some reason I'm thinking it was the praying mother and kids because I remember thinking it was the same family that asked where Pennsylvania was or if it was a state? Not totally sure, though.

I don't think it was a case of not wanting to. I felt it was a case of them thinking it was against the rules to ask for directions.

Boy was I really rooting for the the Italian Family to come in last!

I agree. I was just there this summer. I had no idea where I was going but asked all along the way. There were plenty of info booths and security people around to ask.

I'm joining this a little late...don't feel like reading through 350 posts. So far they are staying in America? Do you think they will be spending a majority of their time here since they have some kids w/ the teams? Just curious because they're usually out of the country by now.

From everything I have researched and gathered they are spending most of the race inside the States, leaving a few times to go into Canada, Costa Rica and somewhere else that I can't remember off the top of my head. It is my opinion they are doing this because of the children. Also my opinion that it is lame considering this is supposed to be a race around the world not a race around the states.

I was bummed with the elimination tonight and was so hoping it was the family who bickers all the time but *sigh* I don't always get my way..lol..

I have my favorite team picked out and I will continue to :cheer2: them on. I do think it is amazing at how well the little kids are getting along and the bigger ones just argue.

So far I'm not enjoying this edition. I miss the thrill of contestants racing around unfamiliar surroundings. Being forced to interact with people who may not speak english, and taking unusual modes of transportation. The airport scenes were always my favorite. Seeing who could get on a flight and so forth.

I can do without seeing the interior of an automobile for the next 8 weeks. Mind you I know it is difficult with 4 people plus a camera person to find transport. I think if they were truly going to do a "family edition" with young children it should have been an even playing field for the contestants. I think they've dumbed down a lot of the detours and road blocks to accomodate the little ones which is frustrating considering one of the teams with young kids are gone. I think the dynamics of a two person team were more interesting. They only had each other to rely on which made for some great tv.

I agree! The teams really are not fair at all & the tasks are not challengeing so it takes away from the excitement- at least for me. Won't stop me from watching..............

I am a HUGE fan of AR....won't stop watching BUT find this edition to be really slooooooooooooow and not very exciting. I always counted on AR to fulfill my fantasy and take me aroooooooound the world:):)

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

I agree. I think TAR is my favorite tv show fror the same reasons you mentioned. I love to be an armchair traveller and this show fits the bill. I will keep watching but I hope they go back to their old formula after this season.

You know....I actually think the previous contestants on the 'out of the country' AR shows did a better job of finding their way around then some of these families!!! Someone told me over the week-end that Americans just assume they know where they are going so never feel the need to look at a map, ask for direction or read the clues (in this case). It boggles my mind how badly some of these people are playing. Almost every time there is at least one group that has said..."Oh man, we should have read the clue better." They all speak English, they are all in their 'native' country and they are still clueless. I am not enjoying this one nearly as much as the previous shows.

And btw....which guy was it that went up to the older gentleman during the 'covert operation' and said "Hey Pops...the sky is blue."? I found that to be pretty rude. At least most of the families are polite..dopey maybe, but polite and friendly.
