Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

SO I thought I'd share what mey be a bit of a spoiler. Highlight it if you want more info:

In the preview for next week's episode we hear Phil say that the Paolo dad has a difficult time keeping his head above water. They are swimming.
On my TiVo description for next week it says something to the effect that skin divers have to rescue a contestant.

Since it's two hours, I'm thinking that we'll see another non-elimination on Tuesday. There are 2 left.

My fiance and I were having the same discussion about the Yield time. Phil does say that it's an 'hourglass,' but it doesn't seem to be a very full hourglass. I know if it had been an hour they still would have been able to catch up because it took the Gaghan mom a loooooong time to find that bean :( I'm so sad to see them go. I was all teary eyed watching the kids' brave faces. I feel a little bit bad for the son too. The whole race everyone kept saying how great Carissa was doing and saying that she could keep up so he should too (even though she wasn't carrying bags and he was.) I hope he was encouraged just as much and we maybe just didn't see it as much.

If you're playing the Weaver drinking game be sure to take small sips. Remember, there's two hours of it tonight.

I thought regardless of time--the little contraption was always called an hour glass. (like in a board game...they don't call it a minute glass or a 30-second glass).

I hope not. I would hate to watch for 2 hours, and then no one goes home.

Hey, I didn't know it was two hours tonight -- getting close to the November sweeps finale.

I don't know who to route for.....my favorite Gaghans are gone :(

Yes, that's correct. But, I'm sort of assumming that since he doesn't specify the amount of time that it's an hour. But, that really seems like a long time. I don't really think the weavers were waiting there that long. And remember when Colin and Christie were yeilded. It also didn't seem like an hour. They caught up to the other teams very quickly. So who knows.

It's all in the editing.

I guess I had better call the wife during my break to let her know so she adjusts the PVR to get it all.

There was a picture in the Denver Post this morning of the AR film crew following a team in the Denver airport. The caption said the next Race starts in Colorado and will air in the spring.

I agree.

Get this family edition over with ASAP, then we can look forward to the REAL Amazing Race.

While I don't find this season,s show to be as exciting, I am still enjoying it. One of the things I didn't like about the previous shows is how they all catch up at the airports. I always thought it was unfair to teams who worked hard to get commanding leads to lose it all because of flight schedules. I still love the show though! :)

According to the leaderboard on the CBS website...tonight will be an elimination, and so will next week. then, episode 9 is non-elimination, with 10 also being non-eleimination and 11 being the top 2 teams to the finish. Based on the board, I estimate the Finale date to be Nov. 29th.

I did read somewhere that the finale is indeed the 29th. But.... I don't think we will be getting an episode next week due to the CMAs.

I was under the impression the yeild was 30 minutes, too.

Tonights show should be good. I don't want to give it away, but according to my tv guide, something happens that has never happened in AR.

Well now I have to go check my digital cable guide and see what it says because curiosity doesn't agree with me ;)

Ok, that may explain why tonight is two hours long...we may have TWO eliminations tonight. They could be combining episode 7 and 8 in one night (tonight).
