Amazing Alaska Adventure: May 28, 2012!!!!!!

I am so jealous of Danielle too! I would love to be on another cruise right now. Almost one year to go
: )

My husband is so much more patient with things like that. He actually has requested a sewing machine for his birthday in July lol. It's so funny because he hunts and golfs and he is 6'4....and then he likes to sew : )
I guess our husbands have something in common!

We are one year away :yay:

For the FE gifts, we gave these popcorn bags filled with candy and silly straws to the kids.
Then we did a second gift later in the week for the families/adults.
It was a Florida theme package..
a small jar of orange jam from a place near Orlando, the Disney 4 parks one world CD (we just burned copies and then printed the same labels from the original for the jewel cases), and a sunshine keychain to be filled with sand.

We received lots of cute things. Some people did gifts from where they were from. We got an I Love Lucy themed gift, complete with a ticket to her museum in NY. (This was from the people from that area.)
The Canadians and the group from the UK gave us candy and treats and postcards from their respective countries.
Someone gave each of us those metal water bottles personalized with Mickey Mouse and our names.

We got personalized photo albums, picture frames, beer koozies, pirate necklaces, lanyards, bookmarks, buttons, and magnets.
There were also some very simple gifts, like ziplock bags of candy or chapsticks.
Someone gave us a rooster dish towel lol.
But it was all with the fun of the gift exchange so everything was appreciated and excited us when we got back to the room.

We spent maybe $100 for 2 sets of 25 stateroom gifts. Most people seemed to go the route of one gift per room and gave something nicer and more personalized, with either the family name or with individual names.

I have some pictures that I can post sometime soon to show off some of our favs!

Since it is so far out, it is tough to say how big of a group we will have.
I would say a cut off date for signing up for one month before the sail date, to give plenty of time to plan.
Then, anyone who joins after that date can start their own group.
If the numbers get too high, we can also split the group in half. The group size for our last cruise was perfect, but we have heard they can get pretty high!

I have some pics and links to share, but it won't let me until I have posted 10 times lol.
Time for some filler posts : )

:dance3:

If anyone is looking for cute personalized items for kids, like dresses or t-shirts, Sassy Kids on Facebook makes adorable little Disney items.
I don't know if she does the pillowcases for autographs or not (although, I'm sure she could), but I just ordered a Minnie Mouse pillowcase dress for my niece, and it is adorable : )

We are finally less than a year out from the Amazing Alaska Adventure : )

Pheww!
Ok, my apologies for all of the annoying posts! I guess you cannot post links or photos on here unless you have posted 10 times!

Now, I found these links about Disney Alaska cruises that I thought I would share. They are both about the sailing from Vancouver since Seattle doesn't start until next year, but I thought it would give some planning help!
The Navigators will provide some spoilers so if you want total surprise, don't read them!
(Although, they don't appear that much different than what goes on during the tropical sailings!)

I am trying to add the photos of FE gifts to show off some of them. Does anyone know how to post photos or attachments?

Hello!!! I'm finally back!!! The TRIP WAS AMAZING!!!! I had such a great time and the weather was beautiful...Mallory - don't worry at all about advanced FE planning - We have been trying to decide for weeks what to do for our FE's for next May too!!! My husband does think I'm a little crazy too but he is used to it now!!! :)

I can't wait to meet you all!!! Have a great day!!! Danielle

We just booked this trip while onboard the 11-night Mediterranean on the Magic (just back on Wednesday!), so we'll be looking forward to joining the fun here as we wait (not very patiently) for our next Disney cruise! DDs will be 5 and 1.5 at sailing. Has anyone started a FE list yet? Can't believe there are so many posts already!

That is so awesome. They were preparing for the Mediterranean sailing when we went to the Caribbean in April. A lot of the staff told us that was their last stop!
How was it? I am so jealous!!

We are obviously impatiently waiting as well : )

I have started a FE list so I will post it ASAP!

Welcome to the group! Where are you guys from?

1. DEADLINE for signing up in order for everyone to prepare is April 28, 2012.
* After this date, a 2nd Fish Extender Group will be started for any late joiners. You may join in that group as well, but it will not be required. This is done to make sure everyone has plenty of time to make their gifts, esp. anyone doing homemade items.
2. Since it is difficult to predict what your days will look like, we will not have assigned days for delivering gifts. Simply pick a day during the week that best fits your schedule.
3. If you choose to participate in the FE, we’re only asking for everyone to commit to giving gifts one day. Some people may opt to give twice during the week. It is totally your preference.
4. No price limit or number of gifts per room requirement. There are always questions such as "Is there a price minimum or maximum?" "Do we give one gift for each stateroom or one gift per person in each stateroom?"
It's entirely up to you. Everyone just does what they're comfortable with and everyone is always happy to receive gifts no matter how big or small! You can give one gift per person, one per stateroom, or gifts for children and gifts for adults.
5. Please make sure children’s ages and genders are marked so that princesses don’t receive pirate toys and pirates don’t receive princess gear!
Also, you may choose to include adult ages as well. It MAY help some people in deciding what to give. Do not feel obligated to do this.

5. IMPORTANT INFORMATION INVOLVING LAST MINUTE ROOM CHANGES/UPGRADES:
If your room were to change once boarding the ship, you’ll need to stop by The Osleger’s Room (Mallory & Kent) and make changes to the master sheet posted outside their door by 3:30 pm (prior to the muster drill)
EVERYONE will need to stop by room our room and grab an updated room list by the end of the first day. Kent & Mallory will have the updates available by 6:00pm.

To sign up for the Fish Extender , simply click the link below and enter your information. As people join the group, they can add their info to the list, and it will always stay current and organized for all of us cruisers. (Make sure you click save, in the top right corner.)
I recommend printing your own copy to bring on the ship. I will also have the updated ones outside our door on the first night of sailing!
(Obviously, I am very much looking forward to this cruise and am a type A organized nut! lol)

Welcome to the group! Where are you guys from?

We're from Northern California :) The Med cruise was our first, and we (obviously) loved it! We are so excited for Alaska already...less than a year to wait ;) We do have a Mexican Riviera cruise scheduled for the week after Christmas, though, so only a 6-month wait in reality to experience DCL again!

Hi Mallory!! Thank you so much for organizing the fe's!! I can't find the Facebook group...Can you please invite me or send me the link when you have a chance? Thank you!! Danielle

Welcome callihannah!

Hi Mallory, Danielle, Becky. Did I forget anybody?

Awesome work on the FE info Mallory. I joined the fb group as well but I have yet to comment. That will be next!

Callihannah- did you post your names, ages, room yet somewhere? I had a list going on one of the first posts and was going to update.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer. We are off to Florida tomorrow. Hooray!

Ok I think I found it by looking at the FE list unless I'm confused and have missed someone then callihannah is Danelle and Josh right?

I guess I have to come on here more frequently to keep everyone straight!!!!
