Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

Amanda,
Good morning! I'm glad to hear that your stress levels are going down.::yes:: Today is Friday!!!Woohoo:Pinkbounc

Please know that baby Sydney will be in our prayers. When my Emily was born, she was in the NICU for a week due to the fact that she was having problems regulating her own blood sugar. It was so hard leaving her each day, but the Lord blessed us and she came home just in time for Thanksgiving. Your friends will also be in our prayers.:grouphug:

Take good care of you and have a fun and relaxing weekend!

Tracy:wave:

Thanks Tracy!

I am just not motivated to work today! I am so glad it is Friday and I will have 2 wonderful days off from work! :bounce:

My lunch today was awful! I made this Cambells Broccoli and Cheese soup with chicken - Blech! It was awful - it wasn't creamy, just runny, and the flavor was just disgusting. So I pitched it but then didn't have time to really make anything - so I had leftovers from my shrimp alfredo - which was a very small helping. I brought 2 things of string cheese to work with me to help fight off hunger cravings. Especially since there is dougnuts all over the dang office!

~Amanda

Hi Amanda!:wave2:

Your "veg day" sounded great! Sometimes we all need one of those once in a while to keep our sanity! Glad you enjoyed some time to yourself!

Baby Sydney is in my prayers. My ds9 was born two months prematurely and spent a month in NICU--I do know how stressful and worrisome it can be. I do hope that your friends get their precious wee one home soon!

Thanks for paying a visit to my journal, Amanda! Your kind and encouraging words are really appreciated! Have a wonderful weekend!

:sunny:

Good morning, Amanda! Just a quick note to let you know that Sydney and her parents are in my prayers. I hope you enjoy your weekend and you and DH find a few minutes where you can relax together!

I had a mini binge last night. well it was probably moe of a medium binge. :) I dont' know what happened. I was really good all day, the dinner at work had things I could eat that I really like, for example - cicken wings and little smokies. I had a glass of water and gave away my alcohol tickets. Then I got home and started thinking about the party and WHAM junk food galore! I had 2 pop tarts and a big bowl of strawberry ice cream. I don't know what I was thinking.

Today is the day of the party - Thank Goodness this is almost over ;) We are heading to the wineries this afternoon for a couple of hours. I plan on having a big filling breakfast so that I don't start to get hungry early in the afternoon. The menu at my house this evening is:
- Sausage and cheese platter
- veggie tray
- Toasted Raviolis (cheese and beef)
- Nacho Cheese Sauce and chips

So I will be doing my best to stay away from the bottom two menu items ;) I'll also be drinking diet soda or water all evening. Since I need to make sure people are sober enough to drive.

Well I should get moving so that I can finish organizing my house.

The party was a HUGE success! We had a nice little group of 8 since two people cancelled at the last minute from being sick. We got the winery at about 1:30 and there was the huge deck in the shade which had some seats available so we set up camp there. It was perfect you could hear the live band but it wasn't so close that we couldn't continue to talk to one another. We brought sausage, cheese, and crackers and sat there for about 4 hours. I found 2 different kinds of wine that I really like and probably had about 6 glasses of wine in that 4 hour time period. Needless to say I was fairly drunk when we left. We came back to the house and ordered some pizzas and made the rest of the food and then vegged at the house. Our group was great because we talked about anything and everything. The party finally wound down at 11pm and everyone was able to go home on their own which was good. Brian got home right after everyone left so we went straight to bed.

Plan for today:
B: Eggs and cheese
L: ?? Not sure. I might just make Tuna Salad though.
D: I'm going to have my Dad grill some steaks, I'll make the guys some noodles, and I'll have lots of veggies. It is nice to make veggies when Dad is here because he eats them with me.

Today is a lazy day - nothing to do but organize the kitchen a little and start the laundry.

~Amanda

Yesterday so did not go as planned. It was great to just be lazy all day and watch football. We ended up going to Cracker Barrell for dinner with my dad. I had the Catfish - yummy! My dad bought me 4 Mums to plant in the front of our house so we also did some landscaping yesterday. That was fun and now my front yard looks 100 times better then it did before.

Plan for today:
B: 2 eggs and a slice of cheese - 3 carbs
L: Tuna Salad - 4 carbs, String Cheese - 1 carb
S: String Cheese
D: Grilled Steaks - DH will have corn and I will have broccoli

Goals for today:
Leave work at 3pm - go to dress shop and get dress, go to alterations lady and drop dress off. Go home, eat dinner, go see friends baby, and then go run.

Good morning Amanda!

Congratulations on the party being a huge success! :jumping1: It sounds like everyone had a nice, relaxing, and fun time.::yes::

Aren't Sundays during football season fun?! I love just sitting around watching the games and doing absolutely nothing.:cloud9: (Especially when the Cleveland Browns win.:cheer2: ) I'm glad that you had a nice, relaxing day yesterday and I bet your yard looks great! (Any chance I can convince you to come do my yard now?;) )

Have a great day!:sunny:

Tracy:wave:

Sounds like you had a blast. Those winery's are the best....so relaxing. Which one did you go to? Last one we went to was Mount Pleasant. Keep up the good job.

Kristin

Hi Amanda,

I am so glad the party was a success, and you had a great and relaxing time. You certainly needed and deserved it. I love going to winerys, but DH finds them boring. He is much more a sports bar kind of guy. Yard work definatley counts as exercise, and your yard looks great. BONUS.

Have a great day,
Beth

Hi Amanda!

Hee hee! It sounds as though you had a lot of fun this weekend! I'm so glad you have such a great time!:drinking:  :teeth: Everytime I do yardwork, I always wakeup the next day hurting in places I never even knew existed!:headache: It certainly counts as exercise if you ask me!

Have a wonderful day, Amanda, and I'm hoping your friends' little one is doing well!:sunny:

Duh! So sorry and thank you Kim for reminding me. Sydney got to come home yesterday! So all your prayers and pixie dust worked! We are hopefully going to see her tonight for a little bit.

So far, so good today! I've drank 3 glasses of water and 2 diet cokes. I'm feel satisified but not overly full. I've got 30 minutes and then I'm off to go pick up my dresses.

Stress level is at a 3 if you can believe that! It feels so good to not be stressed out for a change!

~Amanda

I don't know what happened yesterday  I had a plan that I was following and then all of a sudden :duck: I threw the plan out the window. I think the stress and lack of sleep finally caught up with me. I left work early to pick up the 2 bridesmaids dresses for my October weddings and then took them to be altered. They both fit beautifully and I love the way that I look in them. I got home and instead of cooking something nutricious I had 2 bowls of Fruity Pebbles Ceral. I then proceeded to fall asleep on the couch for about 45 minutes. I got up and ate 3 pieces of salami and went to my friends to see Sydney. I finally got to hold her and she is so dang cute!

When Brian and I left there we decided to go through the drive through at Crazy Bowls and Wraps - I got the Chicken Ceasar Salad wrap which is anything but low carb. Then Brian and I managed to get into a fight about something as stupid as paper towels and the evening was ruined. I went to bed crying and he went to bed mad. Neither one of us slept well so I am extrememly tired today. Oh! We also didn't get any exercise any yesterday.

Plan for today:
Survival! Stress level is at 3 - mostly because of work stuff.
B: Coffee and 2 string cheese - 9 carbs
L: Salad from the cafeteria here
S: Peanuts
D: Grilled Steaks and veggies
Exercise: We probably won't run since DH is going to be working until 7pm tonight. But no matter what I am going to go for a walk tonight.

~Amanda

Amanda, sounds like the party was wonderful!! Even so, the stress of playing hostess wears you down, and it takes a while for those stress hormones to leave your system.

Your binge sounds like a medium binge, all right, but couldn't you find anything better than Fruity Pebbles?? :hyper: That would NOT be my binge-food of choice! :teeth:  I do know that there have been times when ANY carby sugary food would do, so I feel for you!

Happy news about Sydney - so glad she's home!! I LOVE that 'new baby' smell, when they're all clean and freshly powdered! Did holding her give you baby fever??? :teeth:

Sorry that you & Brian are on the outs at the moment but it will pass. I still think it was the stress hormones and tiredness talking - a good night's sleep will help.

I'm hoping today is a good one for you! Maybe you can sneak in a nap after work, before Brian gets home! :)

Hi Amanda!

First things first: Mmmmmmmmmmmm...Fruity Pebbles!:hyper:

I'm so sorry that yesterday did not go as planned. And then to top it all off you have an argument with dh with anger and tears. Ugh, that feeling can be the worst. I'm hoping that today will bring a little more sunshine your way, and I'm so glad Baby Sydney's home, all happy and healthy--such happy news!

Here's wishing you a wonderful Tuesday, Amanda!:sunny:

 Amanda,

I'm so sorry that yesterday was horrible. I'm sure that you and Brian will make things up this evening. It was definatley stress and sleep deprivation.::yes:: Same thing with the binge last night. I have to agreee with Doe, next time go for the Captain Crunch.

I hope today went much more smoothly. I'm glad to hear that Sydney is home and well. I love babies.

Take care of yourself,
Beth

Beth and I sure think alike - I'd pick Cap'n Crunch over practically every other cereal! :teeth: :hyper: However, its gotta have the crunch berries! Oh, and none of that peanut butter stuff! :p

I hope yesterday went better for you and that you and Brian got to make up.

Sending you a  and some :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: to brighten your day!!

You guys are cracking me up this morning :teeth: thanks for the big smile!

Yesterday was not a good day. It was so bad that I don't even want to tell you about it. I did some thinking last night as to why I can't seem to stay on the wagon for a full 24 hours. And here is what I've come up with.

1) Laziness - not only in food but with everything. The last time I fixed my hair and put on make-up for work was when I was in Los Angeles. I've been wearing baggy unflattering clothes that don't feel tight and looking like a train wreck. Why would I bother to eat well when I don't even look good?

2) Boredom - I am bored with the food options I present myself with. I am eating carby junky foods because I haven't had them in awhile and therefore not bored!

3) Sleep - I didn't get to bed last night until midnight. Partial because I was up thinking about this and partially because I tend to be more of a night owl. I need to get to bed earlier so that I don't have such a hard time getting up in the morning.

So with those thoughts in mind I still managed to wake up late this morning but I did make myself shave my legs and put on some sunless tanner. I've got on my cute capris and a new polo shirt that work gave us. I look like I am ready for a picnic. :) I got our my 500 Low Carb recipe book last night and I have 5 that I am going to try over the next couple of days. Most of them are veggie casseroles that I can make and keep in the fridge. That way I know I will always have a side dish ready to go. I also got out my "How I quit my low fat diet and lost 40 lbs" book that Doe gave me. The simple thing to low carb dieting is eat when you are hungry and eat to you are satisified. '

B: Nothing - not hungry ;)

L: I'm going to go home at lunch. I've been taking short lunches here at the office but I think that is what is making me even more tired, not getting a break from my desk. So - with that said lunch will either be left over steak with some mushrooms OR tuna salad.

D: I'm going to the grocery store after work so I will be trying one of my new recipes tonight. I may make heroin wings tonight and also some Parmesean Artichoke dip and Peppers.

S: I'll be making flavored whip tonight. 1 cup of cream with 2 tsp of sugarless flavored koolaid and whip!

~Amanda

Hi, Amanda! If you've got to binge, Fruity Pebbles aren't all that bad, but hey, I beg to differ with Doreen, here. Captain Crunch with those cute peanut butter balls--now THAT's what I'm talking about!:p

I've got to teach my 10 a.m. class--the people are starting to come now--but I just wanted to wish you luck with today. You sound focused and raring to go. I have to admit, I'm jealous of those tanned legs. I could use some of that myself!

Have a great day!
Erin

so far - so good today. I had to come to my journal to get a break from the community board - it is really heating up over there! LOL!

Recap:
B: nothing
L: 1/2 steak w/ broccoli and mushrooms cooked in Alfredo Sauce (yummy) - 6 carbs
S: 3 chewy Cream savers - 13 carbs and 1 string cheese - 2 carbs
