Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

Beth you did not put any extra pressure on me at all! I'm sorry if I made you feel that way! I appreciate your support so much!

Today was the official first day of Marathon training. DH and I got up this morning, put on our new running pants and running shoes, I wore a Mickey shirt, a Minnie fleece jacket, and of course my princess: hat! We briskly walked for 30 minutes - we need to do this every other day for a week and then we kick it up a notch. It felt great to be out in the :sunny: and walking the walk again. I know exercise always makes me behave better with food so hopefully all of this will end up being in the positive.

Plan for the day:
Water and lots of it!
B: Tuna Salad with Crackers
L: Salad with Salami and Cheese
D: We are going to my Aunt's 60th birthday party this evening. It is a real achievement because she is a breast cancer surivor but not she is battling bone cancer and the prognosis is not positive. So I am going to enjoy going tonight and spending time with her and my family. She loves candles so we got her some Island scented candles in tealight form that she can put all over the house. They smell great and very tropical!

Well I'm off to start the day - I need to help DH with laundry and we need to hand out some towels from last nights game. It rained from start to finish.

~Amanda

Yesterday wasn't great - it was just okay. I did pretty good at the party I had one small dollar sandwich and the rest of the afternoon was chicken wings, and meatballs. I stuck with diet soda or water the entire afternoon. On the way home I had a low carb Hardee's burger - but then the ice cream craving hit. I had an ice cream sandwich which I'm sure didn't take me over the 55 carbs - but I am not happy with that decision either.

I'm focusing on today though:
B: 2 sausage patties
L: Grilled fish with cajun seasonings and green beans - I haven't had this lunch in awhile and it is always so good!
D: ??? I think I am going to make breakfast for dinner tonight. Big thing of eggs and bacon, toast for dh.

Exercise: Today is a rest for running and if I feel up to it I might pop in THE FIRM when I get home or after dinner. Monday is a slow TV night so I usually end up reading a book or on the computer all night instead of doing something beneficial.

I'm feeling good today - I felt skinnier this morning then I have in awhile - I let my self sleep in to give myself some extra shut eye time. It is amazing what an extra 20 minutes can do for you.

I'm singing Cher today!

"'Cause I'm strong enough
To live without you
Strong enough and I quit crying
Long enough now I'm strong enough
To know you gotta go"

See ya later!

:sunny: Good morning, Amanda! :sunny: You're sounding bright and cheerful these days--I loved picturing you and DH out strutting your stuff getting ready to kick things into high gear--good for you.

All we have is this day, Amanda. We don't know for sure what's coming tomorrow, so let's vow to treat ourselves in a healthy way just for today. We know we can manage the next 24 hours--heck, we even get a bonus 'cause we get to sleep through some of them!:p

Did you get your aunt those Island Mango tealights? I LOVE those! If they're the scent I'm thinking of, the tropical fragrance will definitely lift her spirits and make her feel like she's vacationing in some gorgeous place! What a thoughtful idea.

Here we go, Amanda. :hyper:

Hi Amanda,

You sound cheerful and strong today. I think you will :boat: through today. I think it is great that you and DH are training together. Not only will it keep you motivated, but time together.
Enjoy your Monday,
Beth

Just stopping in to say hello Amanda!:wave2: Sounds like you are off to a good start on your month and your day today!!:teeth: I know what you mean about this month being hectic and goal setting being more difficult. One day at a time will certainly see you through! It will also let you walk away when you have a bad day without having to beat yourself up. That will certainly help ease the stress during a busy period. ::yes::
Your menu for today looks yummy!
Have a good day today!!:sunny:

So far - so good.
B: 2 sausage patties - 0 carbs
S: Sugar Free Hot Chocolate (it is cold in St. Louis today!) - 4 carbs
L: Canjun Orange Roughy (2 carbs) 1 cup Greenbeans (2 carbs)
D: Definately breakfast! Eggs and bacon!

~Amanda
Edit:
S: Mini Snickers Bar (12 carbs)
D: Eggs ( 2carbs), Cheese (1 carb), Bacon (4 -5 carbs) 1 piece of whole wheat toast (17 carbs)

Total carb count today: 45 carbs

Not a great day but not a bad one either. I wish I could have avoided the snickers bar - I need to learn to bring snacks with me to work to have in case I get hungry in the afternoon.

~Amanda

Glad to see you're doing well today! :sunny:

:flower3: Good morning, Amanda! How are you today?:D I hope you're wearing a smile and are ready to take on this Tuesday with all of its challenges. ::yes:: You made it through yesterday on plan :Pinkbounc , now let's get ourselves charged up to do it again today!

Do you and DH have training goals for today? I've got a day off today, but tomorrow it's a 3 mile day. I'm going to try to get back into my half marathon training mode; knowing you and DH are walking helps me get in gear!

One day at a time, onward and downward--that's us!

Erin

Hi Amanda,

So you had your day of rest, what's on the training schedule for today? You did a good job staying op yesterday. WTG!:cheer2:
Have a great Tuesday!

It is a very busy busy busy day today! We've got a lot to do and since all of it is equally important it is going to be difficult to find a balance - but I am determined to do it.

First I've got work - after work DH and I need to briskly walk for 30 minutes, go home and freshen up, eat a lightening fast dinner and then go to a business meeting at 8pm which won't get out until 10p.m. Then go home and hit the sack for another full day tomorrow.

Menu:
B: 2 Sausage patties and WATER
L: I'm thinking I might put a burger on the George Forman and enjoy that for lunch - along with some veggies.
S: I need to bring a snack to work - not sure what it will be yet but I need to figure it out and bring something.
D: Chicken Ala Amanda and some veggies.

Erin - thanks for checking on me! We not only have our training goals today but we are going to fulfill them too!

Beth - Thanks for your encouragement!

~Amanda

Wow- you are booked solid today- Stick to your plan (hopefully there will be no time left in the day to deviate)
Have a great Tuesday!;)

I hope all goes as planned today! Sending good wishes your way! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I'm pissed. I am so pissed I am seeing red at the moment:mad: <--This is exactly what I look like right now.

Last night I was begged to stay late to take an application for a client. So I stayed, they were going to contact me at 6pm my time which is exactly 1 hour past my normal "I'm outta here!" time. I wait...and I wait...and I wait (keep in mind I had plans for the evening) and I wait....at 6:15 I decide well it is to late now to start the application and for me to get out of here on time and make it to our meeting so I emailed the guy that I had to leave. Now I've missed dinner and I've missed my walk because of this. DH picks me up thankfully with a subway wrap in the car and we are off. I go to pick up my friend who has ditched me and is not home - we go to the meeting anyway and don't get home until 10:30 at night. DH picked up Steak n Shake on the way home and got me a chocolate shake which I inhaled.

Fast Forward to this morning. The S.O.B. that was late calling me last night sends me a half-hearted apology and wants me to stay late this Thursday - I tell my manager that I'm not staying late again he gives me a typical manager answer. Why is it that my personal time is not respected at my job? Why is it because I don't have kids that they seem to think I can work any hours at any time? I was very annoyed by his answer and I think he knew it by the look on my face :snooty: I am so mad right now. So I have a decision to make I can either:

1) Agree to stay late again on Thursday night - which now that I think about it I can't because DH and I have an appointment for our SUV to get fixed and we need to take it to the dealer.

2) Explain I can't stay late on Thursday and give him the name of another representative that can help him.

3) Explain I can't stay late fax him a blank application form and have him fill it out (my manager does not like this idea - but to me it is the best one).

See why I'm angry.

Except for the Shake I was near perfect yesterday.
Plan for today:
B: 2 Sausage Patties
L: Tuna Salad on Crackers
D: Mexican! It's Cinco De Mayo after all!
S: ?? Probably salami or Pepporoni slices
Exercise: We need to walk tonight after dinner.

~Amanda

From a business perspective, is this client a current customer in good standing or just another prospect who may or may not follow through?? In my mind, that would make a difference if I were your manager. Can this client not WRITE?? He can't fill out an application on his own?? Besides, why do YOU have to wait for the client to call you? Why can't he give you a time and a phone number to call him?? Then you can choose where to call from, right? You wouldn't have to necessarily be in the office, would you?? Just my random thoughts - I'd be very unhappy with your manager too!! Just tell him you've got personal business that you can't reschedule and don't think twice!! ::yes:: Maybe it's time to get that resume polished up....

You did very well yesterday, considering the circumstances!

I hope today starts to get more :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: !

Thanks Doe. I am still blazing angry and I really don't want to be here today. I should have taken a personal day. It is most definately going to be some business but I have no cell phone and will be in the car during that time. Evidently no I can't call the client on my own which is another frustration all together.

A friend has offered to lend me a cell phone - I'm still considering this option.

~Amanda

 Amanda,

I'm sorry that you had to deal with such a rude client. Thst has to be very frustrating. :badpc: :badpc: Pretend those are your clients and manager's heads. Not very constructive, but it might make you feel better. I wish I had some suggestions. Borrowing your friend's cell might be a good compromise. I hope it works out.
Beth

Maybe your manager should stay late and take the application! Of course we all KNOW that won't happen but sometimes it's nice to dream.

Can we just send your manager away?? :space:
OK, I've been wanting to use that smilie & this is the first chance I've had. :p

Maybe he wants YOU to take the app because he knows you're one of the best people there. :confused2

Try to keep smiling! :flower1:

Hi Amanda,

I know that today will be frustrating. I know you can get through it in a healthy way. Just rrmrmber we're here for you.

Yesterday was not a successful day - Margaritas at Cinco De Mayo were calling my name! Yummy! DH and I did do our walk last night although it wasn't as brisk and it wasn't for 30 minutes because I've thrown my back out ----- again. I think it was the chairs at the Mexican resturant we went to because they were very hard and unforgiving - and pop! there goes my lower back. I went home and put a heating pad on it along with trying to sleep on my back all night. I'm at work today but I don't know for how long because I really am in a lot of pain at the moment. There will be no walking for me tonight :(

Plan today - stay out of pain
B: 2 Sausage patties
L: Work is providing lunch today from a local wing place so I will be having chicken wings
D: We are going to my Mom's - so whatever she decides to fix.

I'm sorry I didn't get to journals yesterday it was a crazy day.

~Amanda
