Amanda & Eric 03/03/10- WP/WHP/Sago Cay Centerpiece Ideas!

Actually, I like the carnations...I hate roses but like the carnations, haha! They are so vibrant! I like the pink one and the one underneath it.
I like those two also. Not sure if I just want to do solid carnations or mix it. Definitely one color though.

I've never seen a carnation bouquet before. Those are pretty. However, I can not stand the smell of carnations--it reminds me of funeral homes, so for me, carnations definitely wouldn't work for a wedding.
Oh the smell doesn't bother me.

Mandy I LOVE the carnations! I never even thought of using them! I love the colors too... very pretty!

Thanks! I love the purple and I think they are kinda unique.

So I think I may have found something for my bouquet. I love that purple calla lily picture but after searching the web for more pics...they don't seem real :( I am still going to look for some silk ones.

What do you girls think about a carnation bouquet?

Maybe with some of these...not mixed in but either around the purple or in the center

oh wow! those purple ones are gorgeous! and they would look great with those green ones! I like that a lot! and you don't see carnation bouquets that often so it would be really unique!

I think those earrings are beautiful and would work very well with an upstyle hairdo. The carnations though ..I don't know, to me carnations are the petrol station coffee of the flower world (convenient, budget-wise, sometimes can look/taste pretty good and does the trick as a placeholder caffeine, but you wouldn't find it at a wedding and the smell gets to you after a while), probably because in NZ they're mostly only bought from petrol stations, so I have an inherent cultural bias against them as a wedding flower! :lmao: I'm not sure how else to put it - basically, nothing against carnations in of themselves but I'd be surprised to see them at a wedding. Maybe that's not a bad thing though, being original? I guess it's different in the US.

I can see they give a really nice bunched effect and would be easy to dye-colour (although again you'd be dependent on the florist getting the shade right) - is it that bunching effect you like? I say this because I seem to recall hydrangea bouquets posted by someone earlier in the thread - they also give a neat bunching effect, and should be easily available in soft purple/lavendar shades (we used to have them in that shade growing in the back yard when I was a kid).

For example, this one, although not the right colour, is a similar idea to the last bouquet you posted (tight rounded shape with the roses) but uses hydrangeas instead of carnations:

The other thing is if you want small decoration pins they may not show up well against carnations - I almost didn't see the pearl pins in the close-up white bouquet photo. A larger pin like a diamante initial pin should show up well though, especially against colour. :)

I do love how those bouquets look. I would never have thought to use Carnations. I think I like it better when something else is mixed in not just a bouquet of carnations.

Those earrings are gorgeous!!! They would be perfect with your dress!!! Etsy is amazing:lovestruc

Well I'm off to work:sad2:

That is beautiful!!!

I feel the same way about carnations; I like them, but not really for a wedding. If you want to save money on flowers, I would go with silk over carnations.

I love those earrings and would well with the dress.

Thank you both...I guess I just thought it was different since carnations aren't often used for wedding bouquet. I liked its simplicity. Low cost was just an added bonus:rotfl2:

I think flowers are going to be the hardest thing for me to pic out. I don't want something big and poufy.

Have you thought about using lavender? I saw several bouquets made from that. It shouldn't be that expensive, is unique, and would smell great. Although, it would be a lighter purple (but that might be good considering it's a spring wedding).

I have considered using lavender. I think it's so pretty. And I honestly don't care for Pastels...no matter the time of year. I like my bright colors.

Hey girl! I'm attempting to catch-up on all of your stuff and I just found this PJ. I'm jumping around on here trying to figure out where your plans currently are at. Your dress is awesome! :thumbsup2 You look great in it!

seriously...those views are to die for!!!!
the whitehall patio is nice as well...but really those views from the Napa Room would be enough to sell me! lol:love:

I LOVE that photo of the Napa Room. That definitely scores big points for the Napa Room in my book. I can't wait to see that in person.

WHP looks amazing outside like that though. They both have a very intimate feel to them.

I think this will sell it for Eric too! I am really hoping that we will catch the fireworks on our visit. 9:35 ADR and 10 p.m. Wishes!! :cool1:

HAHA You are no help!! The only thing about WHP is the location...kinda on the backside under the monorail.

I thought your original color scheme was pastels?

You will probably have a better idea of flowers and decorations once you nail down a venue. IMO, each location has a different "feel" and what might work in one place, might not work in another.

Nope...never was going with pastels. Had yellow in there in the beginning, but was still using the bright pink and green :) Not a pastel kinda girl!

Girls, look what I found!! It matches those earrings!!!
