Amanda and Aaron's Escape Wedding PJ - 12/1/12

ok i just saw your peacock post. so here are the reasons that I am using the peacock theme. My great grandmother love peacocks and their feathers so it is kind of a reminder of her. but also the following:
Peacock Symbolism
Peacock symbolism speaks of attributes such as:

Glory
Vision
Royalty
Spirituality
Awakening
Immortality
Refinement
Incorruptibility
It is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a mbol of integrity and the beauty we can achieve when we endeavor to show our true colors.
In history, myth, legend and lore, the Peacock symbolism carries:

Nobility
Holiness
Guidance
Protection
Watchfulness
In Greco-Roman mythology the Peacock is identified with Hera (Juno) who created the Peacock from Argus whose hundred eyes (seen on the tail feathers of the Peacock) symbolize the vault of heaven and the "eyes" of the stars.

In Hinduism the Peacock is associated with Lakshmi who is a deity representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and good luck.

Similar to Lakshmi, the Peacock is associated with Kwan-yin in Asian spirituality. Kwan-yin (or Quan Yin) is also an emblem of love, compassionate watchfulness, good-will, nurturing, and kind-heartedness. Legend tells us she chose to remain a mortal even though she could be immortal because she wished to stay behind and aid humanity in their spiritual evolution.

In Babylonia and Persia the Peacock is seen as a guardian to royalty, and is often seen in engravings upon the thrones of royalty.

In Christianity the Peacock symbolism represents the "all-seeing" church, along with the holiness and sanctity associated with it. Additionally, the Peacock represents resurrection, renewal and immortality within the spiritual teachings of Christianity. Themes of renewal are also linked to alchemical traditions to, as many schools of thought compare the resurrecting phoenix to the modern-day Peacock.

Contemplate the powers of the Peacock when you need more vibrancy and vitality in your experience. The Peacock can also help you on your spiritual Path, and breath new life into your walk of faith.

The Peacock can rejuvenate self-esteem levels too. If you're feeling "blah" and blue, imagine the glorious, techno-color display the Peacock provides. This puts us in a proper mood to embrace your own nobility. In no time, you'll be walking tall and proud as a Peacock too!

I found this when I was looking it up much how people look at the symbolism of flowers.

Welcome to the boards!! Your engagement story is so sweet and sounds like it was just perfect for the two of you. :goodvibes I had to google Mackinaw Island since I'd never heard of it before, but it looks really cool! I bet it was romantic weekend.

I love your dresses! I looked up the other styles online, but the picture of you in your dress is just stunning! That dress is perfect for you.

I also love the peacock wedding idea. I think eggplant and teal work so well together with the peacock feathers, and it will be just beautiful.

Being here on the DIS does not wear off though we are all becoming such good friends and it is really truly exciting to be here collaborating with so many people. I feel at least like I am joining them on their wedding and seeing the pictures makes me feel like I was there. It is pretty awesome.

So true. I feel like some of the girls on here are now my closest friends. The DIS is an amazing thing! :grouphug:

My parents got us our first engagement gifts!! They bought us two books on WDW and a book on Disney Weddings!! I was so excited to flip through them and just start bookmarking everything!!

Also today we called the Escape group and should be in touch with our planner within the next 48 hours. We should be tentativly holding our ceremony and reception space soon.

Oh and FI and I forgot to pay our cell phone bill so I have no phone for a couple hours...oops!! lol :rolleyes1 At least they didn't charge us anything because it was the first time we have ever been late, so that was a plus.

I'm crossing my fingers that everything goes well with the Escape people! Keep us updated!

And, :lmao: We've done that once! Lesson learned! :scared1:

I just talked to our DFTW planner and we are tenatively holding our wedding spot for 2:30pm on 11/30/12. We want 12-1-12 but we have to wait until March to see if we can afford the extra cost for Saturday weddings. We will end up booking 12-1-12 on April 1st if we find we can afford it, otherwise we will book and plan on 11/30/12.

Next step...

Ask our bridal party to join us on our fantastic and wonderful day!! I am going to make cards to mail my friends and ask them to be there with us and share in our day! My two bridesmaids or MOH's are my best friends and also very useful! One is awesome at hair and the other is a make up genius so now I can save on hair/make up!! I cannot wait to plan with them and book our hotel space.

We did decide to save some money and stay at the new Art of Animation value resort, since we are in a penthouse on our cruise we decided to just stay in a value resort beforehand. But we are so stoked to stay in new hotel!! The family suites will be perfect also since we are each bringing one of kids with us (we have two each but his daughter can't travel without her mom, his ex and my son is autisic and scared of crowds so we thought it best he stay with his dad, my ex).

Off to make bridal party cards...I will take pictures of them before I send them and post soon!

I'm a fellow Michigander as well! Since you studied aviation, I can only assume you're a Bronco? FI and I are Chippewas :rolleyes1 We're planning an Escape as well, but I don't want to start a PJ until we get a date nailed down...nobody can decide if it should be February, March, or May...
