Am saving Pennies for Disney, what was the tip to clean them?

I put just enough vinigar to cover my pennies and them I just pour some baking soda in till its good and fizzy

Where do you get pre-1982 pennies? Do you just keep an eye out for them or can you go to the bank and get some?

I placed mine in a salt, vinigar and baking soda mix over night( yes itll fizz) and let it sit all night the next day I made a baking soda and water mix and got a wash cloth and drained all the vinigar and stuff off my pennies and placed in warm water as I took a few at a time and placed them in the baking soda mix, then I tool my washcloth and slightly rubbed them individually for just a few seconds and, walla good as new. O yea rinse the nasty baking soda off and the spray with wd/40 for an extra shine and place in mini M&M tubes.

~~~~ Sounds like a lot but its not! Love doing this-Good Luck!~~~~~~~~~
I just put my pennies in for their "bath" following these directions. Cant wait to see how they come out in the morning. Thanks for the tip. My kids are so excited about the penny pressing. Even the little things at Disney can bring so much happiness!!
I agree. It's the little things that make the magic. Maybe that's why there are so many details at WDW.
Here is a great spot to get a lot of pressed penny information - including where the machines are. We use this to help us find them!http://www.allearsnet.com/btp/penny.htm
not sure if the link will work - not sure if I did it right!
You can also let them soak in coke for 24 hours, rinse, then boil them for a few minutes, before wiping dry.
can I use diet coke??
I tried the salt & vinegar, then the salt, vinegar & baking soda, and they just left my pennies all dull and splotchy. So, I whipped out our "Nevr Dull" polishing stuff and polised them one by one. Yes, it was insane (DH even told me so!) and it took a while, but the pennies had a wonderful copper sheen and pressed out great! Just do them when your watching TV!
I used diet coke and I am shocked to see how clean they came out!! I drink gallons of diet coke each day :scared1: :scared: :crazy2: :faint: I can't imagine what the inside of my stomach looks like.
How many pennies fit inside one of those little books?
48. I figure that between all the places we go, my kids will have it filled up in 5 years? We only did 12 each this trip.
