am I understanding how these tickets work correctly?

I just want to make sure I am buying the right tickets for our situation.

We are DVC members and will be going every other year. This year I was thinking of buying 10 day passes (plus, non expiring and park hopping). We plan on going in May to 1.) magic kingdom, 2.) MGM, 3) Animal Kingdom 4) water park. Then in addition to that take one evening and go to Epcot (for Illuminations and just to walk around) and another to Disney Quest. We also need to go into different resorts for character and other dinners. I was thinking that those 10 day tickets will last us 3 years of going for 2 adults and 3 kids. Is this plan based on what I am doing going to work? We are only using 3 days technically in one year because park hopping will cover the character dinners and Epcot and Plus options covers the water park day and Disney Quest. Since the 10 day comes with 5 options the last year I will just be we would have to only do one option instead of two but will have an extra day left. Am I making sense or do I just not get how it works? Thanks!!

Works exactly as you described.

(if you don't do the Epcot evening on the water park day)

I didn't know that, do you know why? Wouldn't the water park part be under the "plus" option and the Epcot evening under the "park hopping" option?

You can only park hop from one major theme park to another, ie MK, AK, Epcot and Studios. You can't park hop from a water park to a major theme park and vice versa. So if you are planning on doing a water park one day, and then going to Epcot at night, you will be using one PLUS and one of your 10 days.

I wasn't sure if this is what you were going to do, but this is how it works.

Actually that was we were going to do, so thanks for clarifying! One more question though, on those options, (Waterpark or Disneyquest) you are allowed one time only correct? not two times on different days?

Not correct, you can go to the same place 5 times if you would like.

Allison is absolutely correct. If you want to use your 5 plusses to visit DisneyQuest 5 times, or use 5 plusses to visit Blizzard Beach 5 times, that's perfectly ok.

Yes the water park part is under the "plus" options.

Going to a water park and one theme park is not considered a hop. Even if you go into Epcot only for the evening of your waterpark day you would tick off a park day also, so back to your original four day vacation you described you will consume four park days, not three.

Doing Disney Quest on your water park day and not visiting any of the theme parks is also not considered a hop. This consumes no park days and two plusses (three plusses if you went to both water parks).

You won't need any kind off ticket to go to another resort for any reason. You can visit any other resort for any reason [other than pool hopping] at any time without the need of a ticket. The only possible exception to this is if you pass thru Epcot for any reason from front to international gate or international gate to front gate. As an afterthought you can always get discounted tickets for PI, DQ, BB, and TL for one time entry by showing you current AP at the ticket window.

(They won't have or want annual passes for a 3 to 4 day trip every other year using 1 or 2 plusses each time. And perhaps trading the rest of the DVC points for vacations elsewhere. The break even between AP and regular tickets is about 12 hopping theme park days in a year.)

Your plan will work...just don't make it so restrictive trying to avoid using extra days that you miss out on some of the fun (especially if you are traveling with small children). Even if you end up using the tickets for two trips instead of three, you'll probably still come out ahead by buying the 10-day tickets. :flower:

I too will be purchasing the 10 day non-expirinig, hoppping pass. So, as I understand from above, the 10 day INCLUDES plusses? Correct? Thank you all so much!

Same question as JS--Do the 10 day passes include plusses at no extra cost? That cant be right.

thanks

Tony

Not automatically. It is possible to get a non-expiring, hopping pass without a Plus pack - you must be sure to specify that you want to add the Plus pack on.

Park-hopping tickets with a Plus pack are called Premium tickets. You can add the no-expiry option to a Premium ticket, or leave it off, as you wish.

Whenever you think of WDW tickets, think in terms of two things: Days, and Plusses. Days get you into the theme parks; Plusses get you into water parks, Pleasure Island, Disney Quest, and Wide World of Sports.

The Hopping option applies only to Days. The Hopping option will let you enter more than one theme park on the same Day. But it will not allow you to enter more than one of the smaller venues on the same Plus. Plusses cannot be made into hopping admissions.

You can use a Day to get into theme parks and a Plus to get into something else on the same day.

If you do not have the Hopping option, you cannot use two Days to get into two theme parks on the same day.

If you do have the Hopping option, you can get into as many of the theme parks on one Day as you want. You can come and go from the theme parks as you please, all day long.

You can use two Plusses to get into two minor venues on the same day (example: Use a Plus to get into a water park in the morning and another Plus to get into Pleasure Island that night).

When you choose the length of your ticket, you first choose how many Days you want (from 1-10).

Then you can add on a Plus pack. How many Plusses are in the Plus pack depend on how many Days long your ticket is - a 1-3Day ticket gets 2 Plusses in the Plus pack, a 4-5-Day ticket gets 3 Plusses in the Plus pack, a 6-Day ticket gets 4 Plusses in the Plus pack, and 7-10-Day tickets get 5 Plusses in the plus pack.

Then you can add the Hopping option to make your Days into hopping admissions.

Then you can add the No-expiry option to make your tickets never expire.

The Plus pack, Hopping, and No-Expiry options can be added to a Base ticket in any combination you want.
