Am I underestimating?

I was wondering the exact same question. While I can get around with a lot of kids it's not the meals and such I'd be worried about (you do that every day anyway... so you are a total pro I've no doubt!) but rather how are you going to do some rides? I'd think there are more rides you can't ride than you can.
Off the top of my head I'd think you'd have problems with numbers or height on Stitch, AO, Buzz, Speedway, PP, Dumbo, Splash, Thunder, HM. :confused3 It seems like a lot of money to be really limited. I'd definately see if I could con someone into coming along.

i thought it was? how much is parking? last yr on buzz my dd and d rode together and i rode with ds and dd. never had any issues. my infant will be in the baby bjorn and 15 mo old sitting in my lap for rides

Sorry, I'm still getting used to typing on an iPad. My post should read that parking is $14 per day.

I am a Dad who has at least one epic parenting fail a day, so I understand that there are moms and dads that are much better than I at keeping everything straight, safe and happy. However I can not even imagine the idea of me taking 5 kids to disney, I would think of it as crossing 5th ave in NYC with 5 kids. Not just hard to keep track of everyone but also VERY dangerous. Also as someone said previously make sure you have a backup source of money, never know what could happen. When I use to goto the casino I would only take cash with me, except... my freind and I would hide each others credit cards in the car just in case.

thanks. i confibe my infants to the baby carrier n stroller and the other 3 stay verty close and hold the stroller. Been doing this like zi said for 4 yrs. course last yr my 15 mo old was 4 mo n i wasnt pg yet but i figure its about the same. I want to allow extra cash though, like y7ou said, for emergencies. srry typing with baby:) I dont do ccs

I had a very close call last week with my 5 year old falling on an escalator in the DC subway and nearly getting injured, if I had an infant in my arms she would have been tumbling down that escalator. I didn't see this almost accident coming, she's done the whole escalator thing before, is pretty independent and with it for a 5 year old. I really think you need to consider the rides and what will happen if a child falls or needs help with a seat belt as you hold onto a toddler and an infant. Even getting a six year old and a two year old on the nemo or buzz light year ride was a challenge last time we went. Perhaps you'll be fine - but the IF is too great to make this a good idea IMO. Not to mention, the excitement and distractions at DW certainly are going to cause your older children to want to run and see Mickey, or go over and see that great ride... Don't you think it would be good to have a mother's helper just in case?

What do you plan to do if the worst happens and one has to go to the hospital for hours or days? What if your car all of a sudden needs a transmission? I don't live in a space of worrying about all that can go wrong - but I am prepared if it does.

I am traveling with a 18 month old and am having heart palpitations thinking about logistics of everything. AND my husband and mother will be there. I can not even imagine taking all FIVE children to the bathroom on a busy day at WDW, let alone on rides? ... I guess all I can say is good luck if you have your mind set on this!

What if somebody gets sick or hurt and you have thousands in medical bills? What if your car breaks down and needs repairs? What if you get robbed? I NEVER carry that kind of cash.

Traveling with 5 kids MIGHT be doable if everything goes perfect. But you are leaving yourself very vulnerable.

Since you have done this trip the last 4 years - look and see how much you spent last year and add some for the new addition - that should tell you if you have enough budgeted.

i am soooo sorry. i didnt realize i have 2 differnt screen names. I have 1 on my laptop and 1 on my desktop. DUH ME! Anyhow, the hotel, clairion lbv is $49 per night from april 15-26. We leave the 14 and stay overnight usually in GA or SC and then come back the 26, possibly the 27, dependimg.I swear I'm not a troll:) Just an overworked mommy who can't keep track:) But I think ths will work. Been tweaking my budget all evening and listed a bunch of things fs on craigslist for a few extra spending bucks there:)

Okay so how would you not know that you have 2 different screen names?
I have to type my ID and password to be able to post.

Well, you are brave but you say you have done it before so... Some things- I would not carry cash- can you get traveler's checks etc.. I think you may be able to put money on a prepaid visa or something if easier. Do not forget to add hotel taxes and occupancy taxes- that could add 20% or so to each hotel night. I would budget 4.00 a gallon for gas. And then, when I have it all added up- I would add a minimum of 500.00 more for a stay that long. Also, I would look into a TRAVEL insurance plan. This is not normally something I would add but given the driving, all the kids and sickness, injuries that can go along with etc- I would get it- it may cost around 100-150.00 more but could be worth it. Ot could pay medical bills if needed, hotel costs if you have a breakdown etc..

I actually have 2 ids (I signed up with different email addresses years ago and didn't realize it, but I never use the other id). Anyway, my computer stores my ID/Password so I don't have to type it in when I come to the DIS, windows automatically does it. I don't even know the password, I have to go back years in my email archive to find it if I want to use a different computer and have to enter the password manually.

It's totally none of my business--because I am a mother of three and I think I can handle anything (lol)--- but isn't there any relative, friend, husband, sister, neighbor that you could ask to go with you?? I'm not asking to be judgy---so please don't think that---I'm concerned about YOU...how are you going to take a shower??? or go to the bathroom? or one kid at dinner needs to go to the bathroom so ALL of you will have to stop and go? I know you've been there before---don't try to be a hero, ask for help...

I was wondering the same thing. It just sounds like too much for one person to handle. But hey, I'm not the OP and all the power to her for braving such a trip!:goodvibes

That sounds like my idea of hell.:eek: Logistically, it will never work. You have to realize the parks will be PACKED. It will be very easy to lose your children in the crush of people.

I considered taking my two kids (14 and 9) for a last-minute trip in a few weeks for our spring break, but nixed it since it won't work logistically to have one adults and two independent, self-sufficient children!

i dont need help. do it all myself. did it by myself the past 4 yrs:) i enjoy it. and yes were going april 14 thru easter.

How could you have done it yourself for the past four years, when all but two of your children are less than 4 years?? I agree with others that the logistics of the rides is going to be a problem.

Since you have done this trip the last 4 years - look and see how much you spent last year and add some for the new addition - that should tell you if you have enough budgeted.

The new one will only be a few months old. No cost even for food. Plus the toddler will be free at buffets. So, this idea is really easy IMO.

I don't get how you hold a baby in a front pack and a toddler on your lap. You must be really skinny. ;) Other than the rides, I could see this just fine but the rides are throwing me for a loop.

It sounds like your hands are very full.

I agree. If I was a single mama of 5 and had the money to take a Disney trip or stay home, I would go, go, go.

Good for you op. Your big kids are going to remember these times and have great memories. You may be a bit tired, but that is life in general with 5 kids. I have 3, with 4th coming in June.
Have you tried a sling before with your tiny one? You may find it's easier to shift baby to the side in a sling instead of a bjorn so you can hold your toddler more easily on rides. :goodvibes
