I didn't know which board to post this on and I thought I would get more responses I was looking for here on the CB anyway so here it is. :)

We will be taking a vacation this upcoming February. DS will be 3 and DD will have just turned 1. We made the trip to WDW with DS when he was about 21 months and if was very different from our adult only trips but we still had a great time. DS is now old enough to LOVE the WDW commercials/planning video and is really wanting to go back and it doesn't take much to convince DH and I! LOL! ;)

We will be driving from Missouri over two days then have 3 nights planned at All Star Movies where we will spend 2 days in the parks. We will then take the 4 Night Disney Cruise on the Wonder followed by 2 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge and 1 1/2 more days in the parks and then drive back home over another two days.

The more I think about it it sounds like an awful lot of packing, moving, unpacking, etc.. especially with all of the stuff you need for a 12 month old. Am I completely crazy? I am starting to think that maybe I am being a little too ambitious but I really want to do the parks and the cruise. Any experiences, advice, recommended medications?? :goodvibes

If it were me, I'd do the resort stay all in one place and all together. Putting the cruise in the middle seems like a lot of extra work.

Because of the dates we can take our vacation and the dates of the cruises we have to put the cruise in the middle. I wish it was all at the end but I can't leave here until Feb 1st because I work on our payroll system and I need to be available until then in case we are still rushing to get W-2's prepared for everyone. We also can't push back the dates because DH has to be back at work by Feb. 12th because that is when the "season" starts for his lab. :(

I agree that the cruise in the middle doesn't sound like it's going to work out well. I would look into other cruise lines (Royal Caribbean and Norwegian come to mind) and see if you could find more convenient sailing dates. If that doesn't work out, I woud do either a cruise or Disney.

I think that it sounds fine. I'm assuming that you can use Disney transportation to and from Port Canaveral? Just try to streamline what you pack (easier said than done with a 12-month-old I'm sure :rotfl: ), and you'll be fine. I worked with a guy who travelled ALL over the world with his kids from the time that they were babies, and he talked like it was no biggie at all. I remember him telling me how he and his wife took the kids to New Zealand when the kids were 2 and 3, LOL! He convinced me not to be afraid to travel with my future kids, that's for sure!

Depends on your baby really. Does she sleep well in strange beds, stay on her regular eating schedule, etc? If she's an easy baby then I'd do it because I think the vacation would be worth it. The moving around, even with tons of baby stuff, will probably be fine if you've had a decent night's sleep and the baby isn't crying/wineing non-stop because her schedule has been disrupted and she tired, irritable, hungry or her belly hurts. If she's a good traveler and it's just the normal baby stuff then I think you could handle it fine and it would be an awesome vacation.

I agree but if this is the only way you can do it, go have fun just watching the joy on your kids faces. you will have a great time :cheer2:
