Am I the Only One?

I really liked Soarin, but it could have used a little bit better transitions between scenes. It seemed to jump from one scene to another with no transition, so it just looked like a bunch of video clips spliced together.

Hey Neighbor! THANK YOU! My family really likes this ride and I just don't get it!!!! I don't have the heart to tell them, though, so I keep going on each trip, hoping something will change for me, but no such luck! At least now I know I am not the only one! I really felt guilty for not liking it!

We truly love Soarin', but there are two things I would like to see changed....

1. More footage...for the line, I want more than a few minutes.
2. Something other than California. The scenes were great, but why not Soarin' over America or Soarin' over Egypt?

We loved it and so did our 7 y/o twins! Rode 4 times back in September and they are already talking about it for our next trip! Did ya know about the HMs?

We were approached by a Soarin' cm and as part of the YOAMD 'preview' the last week in September were granted a backstage tour! We were "announced" and got to ride in the front row, center section with our personal tour guide, Todd, with no wait! :thumbsup2

When the golf ball comes at you look for the HM! Also, over Sleeping Beauty's Castle, the fireworks make a HM! He also pointed out things that we didn't catch the first 3 times! (guys climbing on the rocks, rainbow in the bottom right corner- under your feet... can't remember now the particular scene)

Sooooo, yeah, we love Soarin'!

You're not crazy...that is why there is vanilla AND chocolate! :teeth: To each his own.

Some love Pirates but I never *really did. :duck: I'll tolerate it now that Johnny Dep is in it though.

After I first rode Soarin' in 2004,I was not impressed at all. However,I rode it again on Monday and I really liked it. It's not my favorite but it's well done and the scenery is beautiful.

Well it's obviously featuring CA because it is taken from the original which as stated above is Soarin' Over California (which I may say, I did before it came to Epcot). Presumably Disney didn't have the money/time to make a new film and re-choreograph the ride vehicles, plus I think the CA scenery is really good in the film. I can't imagine a FL equivalent, even if I love Florida. Also, you'd need a whole new music score.
I think if you go into this ride with an openmind, not expecting a thrill ride, then you'll get it.

I read somewhere (on these boards?) that they a re-shooting the movie for EPCOT and it will have an international theme (Soarin' Around the World or something or other). Don't know if they plan to replace the version at DCA as well.

I love Soarin', but it isn't worth a long wait. IMHO, nothing is worth more than about 15 minutes.

I love it... I think Soarin' and Illuminations alone are worth admission to Epcot.
Agreed. One of the moments of my trip where I'm actually stunned and just open my mouth and say "wow". I also love hearing the reactions of the people next to me, everyone gasps and claps at the end. What an atmosphere, just amazing.

I like that SNOARIN comment. I always just called it BOARIN.

Now that I have rode it, I now know that it isn't worth the 90 minute wait that I got to enjoy when I went on it.

On my last trip to EPCOT, one of my friends wanted to wait for it and I told him that we can ride it at home.

This is how you ride Soarin at home...

1. Download the video of the ride on youtube.com
2. Get a bar stool or a chair where your feet wont hit the ground.
3. Place the chair in front of the coumputer monitor.
4. Get a small electrical fan and plug it so that the air will blow at you when you sit in the chair.
5. Have a can of pine and orange scented air freshner by your side so you can recreate the smells of the pine trees and orange trees.
6. Play the movie on your computer and enjoy

That my friends is a bootleg Soarin.

Classic! ROTFL :rotfl: :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'd say most people really enjoy Soarin'. Of course, this depends what you were looking for. On that note, what were you looking for? Disney does not do pure thrills in general. This ride simulates the act of flying over California which is something few have ever done this way. In fact, Disney is the only company in recent history to do a flyover of Yosemite National Park. It was big news that they had to get a permit for this and the National Park Service hadn't granted one of these in a long time, if ever.

Of course, it's not for everyone, but is a nice experience for most.

Actually, I enjoy the little ride. I don't understand though, why they did Soarin' over California instead of Florida? it would have made more sense. Helen
For The Happiest Celebration on Earth, Walt Disney World 'took' (aka copied) one attraction from each of the other Disney parks - CinderellaBration, Lights! Motors! Action!, and Soarin'. Soarin' is called that, instead of Soarin' Over California, because plans have always been to replace the California scenes with, coincidentally, one or the other of your suggestions!

When the golf ball comes at you look for the HM!
Not a Hidden Mickey, but look at the golfER ;)

You must not enjoy your trips to Disney very much. ;) 15 Minute waits are great, but it does not always work out that way. Maybe you will get a dream pass. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I , too, want to see Soarin' over something other than California. I would like to see more footage as well. An hour wait for a 3 minute attraction is crazy. I waited 85 minutes the first time....I loved Soarin', but I did not feel that it was worth that much of my time.

The golf ball has a Mickey head on it... what did I miss with the golfer?? Hmmm... I love the way you can always catch new things on things you've seen over and over at Disney!!

We love Soarin', too. There has always been a big round of applause at the end. I think it is really top notch. That being said.... I don't think ANY ride in Any theme park is worth an hour + wait we see at Soarin.'

I saw in firstin CA, hen at WDW and thought, "what a neat idea," but frankly nothing more. I would use the word "underwhelmed."
