Am I the only one who likes to go to DisneyWorld by himself ?

Er...I may be alone here but I really only go to WDW because I have kids. A vacation that I would like to take alone is a tour of the WWII battlefields of Europe as I know my wife and kids probably would not want to do that, at least not right now.

NOT ME!!! LOL, matter of fact, my two are lucky I "let" them go...Or so I say...ha ha. I am the Disney obsessed on in our family, the DH, DS, and DD just humor me. :rotfl: They all wanted to go to *gasp* Universal.

As far as battlefields go, I live in Va. and am surrounded by them, but still would recommend them to out of towners...I am just kinda over em'. :teeth:

Except for my Birthday trip, than I have my friends with me. Hi Debbie and Mickey's Sunshine! ;)

I've never been alone but would love to try it sometime. Everytime I've gone it's been with my family which is fun but it gets old constantly debating on where to go and what to do. In fact I don't think I could stand traveling and staying in one big, tight-knit group all of the time. It's annoying enough just going to the mall like that for about an hour.

I've been once by myself and LOVED it!!! I'd love to do it again, but my family objects (they love it too).

I've never been by myself. If I had the money, maybe I'd try it.

While I have made several visits to WDW with some of my children and with some of my grandchildren and always enjoyed watching them, the fact is that I have also enjoyed the one solo trip I have made to WDW (last spring).

So I have scheduled another brief stop (three nights), staying at Port Orleans French Quarter again, SOLO. And I plan to make a longer vist during the first week in December as well, again SOLO. Advantages to going solo? Several ... like:

No waiting while someone in my party visits the "necessary room."
No stops at penny press machines.
No delays while the kids visit characters and collect "autographs."
No standing around debating what to do next.
No one wanting to go on to another attraction when I'd like to do something over.
No waiting while someone does "just a little shopping."
No skiping an attraction because someone does not want to do it.
No debates about where to eat.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

Enjoy.

Well, I definately don't only go to Disney World because I have kids. DH and I have been many times alone (before Paul came along) and I've gone with my sister, friends, etc. and we always have a blast!!

However, I've only been on one solo trip, and I really didn't have all that great a time, honestly. I mean, for the first day or so it was pretty cool to do exactly what I wanted, eat exactly what I wanted, or whatever without having to think about anyone else. Pretty soon, though, that wore off and I missed having somebody to share the fun and excitement with.

I know lots of people love solo trips, but I don't see myself going on another one. It just isn't for me.
I can't imagine going alone. It just wouldn't be the same for me without someone to share it with. For me, the best thing about vacationing is getting to spend time with DW and the kids.
It's the same way when I have to travel alone for business. The first day, it's fun to be able to just do whatever I want, but after that, I get bored and lonely.

Your beautiful state will definitely be in our plans for a future family vacation. Probably when the kids are old enough to understand American history.

Well, if I were there by myself, I might slow myself down standing in line for autographs!!! I still can't get enough of the characters!! :confused3

I would probably tour castles and art museums in Europe if I chose an alone trip.

I go once a year with DH, then once a year solo. Although I love the VACATION with him, I have to admit that I prefer doing the parks solo. I love to wave at the characters, ride "Dumbo" and the Carousel, all the things that embarass him. Next trip, for example, I really want to see Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade. Well, I always sing with the music and wave to the characters-I just love that parade. But how do I politely suggest DH go elsewhere so I don't embarass him? Solo does have its advantages!

You will like it. Don't worry about the kids being too young, some of them (Colonial Williamsburg) are very interactive. Kids can even learn how to make soap. Made a few "balls" of that in my day (it smells terrible though, so I really would not recommend using it ha ha). :teeth:
