Crème brulée?

I keep reading about this dessert in dining reviews, seeing pictures etc. I am still not too tempted to give this a try.

Can this dessert be compared to another one? Am I missing out on something fabulous? It is a very common dessert in WDW, so I was wondering what is so great about it?

It's maybe a little similar to flan, or custard. Very rich and creamy. I actually prefer flan.

I did not like it when I first had it but after trying it a couple times it is one of my favorites!!

Basically it is a creamy custard with a burnt sugar crusty caramel top. Most restaurants add a flavor to make their version unique, for instance, the Canada pavilion has Maple Creme Brulee. If you like custards, you'll like creme brulee.

I always thought I would hate it because I'm a little weird about the textures of things but I tried it and I love it!! I don't like flan but I love creme brulee. The best kind I've ever had was banana! They put a layer of carmelized banana on top. So yummy:)

I tried it a couple of trips ago and it wasn't to my taste. You never know though, you might really like it!

It is almost always my dessert of choice wherever I go. I love it!!

I have never had it either. I am thinking of trying it at Le Cellier...getting the sampler. We'll see.

I like it, my husband can't figure out why I do LOL. It was disappointing at the F & W festival to get it from France..the sugar was burnt on top! Several were complaining near the booth. A glutton for punishment, I got it again the next day, and it too was burnt. Normally I like it a lot.

I've never tried it either! I'm so dumb, at Le Cellier I ordered the kids' chocolate moose while DH scarfed down his maple creme brulee without sharing so I guess it was good...
I want to try it at a place where they serve a sampler of it. Anyone know who does this? Is it Wolfgang Puck's Cafe that has a creme brulee sampler?

It's a classic French dessert. If you are at all interested in cuisines of the world, it's something you should try at least once. A lot of restaurants serve creme brulee because it can be prepared ahead of time, stored, and the top heated up with a blow torch (literally) just before serving. It's easy to find a bad creme brulee, very good ones are less common.

My Favorite!! The classic Creme' Brulee at the Chefs de France was my favorite of our Nov. Trip. I ate it at every place we tried and never had a bad one. Yum Deb

Wolfgang Puck Cafe does have a Creme Brulee Sampler...we had it in October and it was fabulous....Chocolate is my favorite, but the butterscotch was very good, too! ::yes::

Another fan checking in. I love it especially after a big meal. I usually have enough room left for creme brulee. On our last trip I had it at CRT and Chefs de France. Both were very good. ::yes::

My very favorite, always my first choice...but just like w/ cheesecake, I like the plain...I don't want banana, butterscotch, chocolate, etc...well, I have enjoyed it when it had fresh raspberries at the bottom of the dish.

I had to laugh and pick myself up off of the floor when reading the OP! I've tried it and never really understood what all of the fuss was. It's a take it or leave it sort of thing. I'd rather have many other things for dessert. ( I could really go for some bread pudding from O'hana right now!)

I like it, but have always been confused about how special it is. It's basically an egg custard with a caramelized sugar topping. I've eaten it at several restaurants including high end places where they torch it right in front of you. Give me a good piece of cheesecake or a good carrot cake any day.

I had never been interested in trying it because for whatever reason, I thought it was served warm. I have no idea why I had that idea. I think I tried some at Epcot in France once and maybe it was an off day. Anyway, I tried it another time at a non-Disney restaurant and I'm hooked. If you are at a restuarant I'd try it, but I'd suggest skipping it at the counter service in France.

It can be very good or not too good. At Kona the custard tasted a little too much like vanilla instant pudding - but the "brulee" - the carmalized sugar - was fantastic, with bananas in it. I wasn't fond of the pistachio chocolate one at Jiko (the pistochio overwhelmed the chocolate, and BOTH overwhelmed the creme brulee). The maple at Le Cellier was our favorite this last trip (well, the raspberry napolean at Flying Fish was the favorite dessert, but that isn't a creme brulee).

Our former club used to serve it frozen, which I never liked.
