I have never been on a holiday like this. I have been to Mexico/Caribbean TONS (no brainers when it comes to the planning) but doing WDW with two young kids is a whole other story!!!! Even backpacking in Holland/France took NO planning compared to this. We just packed our bags the day before we left and off we went. No guidebooks, nothing. And it was a FABULOUS trip.

And to top it all off, I took the kids to the doctors today (they have been coughing a bit for the past few weeks) and it turns out, they both need puffers and antibiotics!! YIKES!!! DD7 is quite ill (although you would never know it, the kid has ENDLESS energy) but she has an ear infection and bronchitis. What an idiot mom I am for not even having a clue. I only took her to the doctors because I couldn't arrange care for her. I thought DS4 was the sick one.
YIKES!!!
So now I have to take two different antibiotics with us next weekend to WDW. I will have to call and arrange a fridge.

Am I the only one who gets a little panicky prior to first family trip to WDW??? Don't get me wrong, I am also by far the most excited family member at our house. The kids are in for the treat of their lives. Its so cool that DD7 is the same age now as I was the first time in Disney.

Have a great weekend everyone.

lol, Suzy, I think its very normal. This board is fantastic but it can put alot of stress and pressure for your first trip. Your trip will not be perfect unless you stay here, go there, eat here, see that, this ride first, that ride first, this park on this day ..oh wait, new rules, go that day....lol....get my drift. Sooooo much information. As long as you have a good idea about which parks which days and what YOU want to see and hit the big things first, the rest just falls into place. Its not nearly as complicated as it sounds...well, we don't find anyways, we like to just go with the flow.

Relax, get those kids healthy and you'll have a great time :)

Just think, imagine if you had been scheduled to go this weekend instead?!?I think you are lucky to have had it happen the week before and don't worry, those antibiotics will have them feeling great in a few days. I always panic the week or so before but always have a great time. I think part of the magic of Disney id that there is so much to discover, even for people who have been time and time again. If you take it in stride, knowing you cannot possibly "do it all" and decide to just enjoy the experience I think you can relax more. I know I go through this too, especially when it comes to trying to arrange my priority seating (where, what days, what time yikes!!!). I know you have been planning a lot and it will pay off so relax, enjoy and write us a wonderful trip report when you get home!

Oh, Suzy! Don't you dare say that! My youngest is one who never complains, so she has suffered through: a broken arm (or was that 2?) a HUGE bite on the back from a toddler friend[I wasn't supervising-DH was] AND the bronchiolitis that the doctor thought that she should have been hospitalized for! before I finally clued in just HOW sick she was. Even now, at ten, she doesn't complain....she just sleeps for a day or two-literally-when she is sick.

Have a wonderful trip. NOTHING beats being in Disney with your family.

The year my daughter was 6, she is now 13 going on 40, we left for the perfect trip to DW. The second week we were there she came down with the chicken pox. She had hundreds of spots including in her eyes and everywhere else you can imagine. We took her to the doctor and they gave her an antivirial med. and ointment for the sores. Needless to say we didn't tour the parks anymore but she did get to feed the ducks at the Vistana Resort and walk the trails. We avoided people big time. The long drive home to Ottawa was interesting. Take out all the way and only motels with outside doors. She still talks about the time she got sick at Disney.

I on the other hand have spent one whole trip on antibiotics everyday for a mouth infection I got in the hospital during surgery. They cut my mouth when they put the breathing tube in and it took 4 months to completely heal.

We leave on January 2nd for three weeks and we will have a great time no matter what. Your kids will be fine in about three days and just enjoy.

We've had a similiar situation....taking DH (age 7 at the time) to the Dominican Republic. Our flight from Pearson was at 7 am so we were up at 4 am getting ready to leave Barrie. Dh is running a fever, starts vomiting. My Dh and I are standing at the door with no cancellation insurance, about to depart to a foreign country with a puking 7 year old. What to do? Maybe not smart but we gave her some imodium...then gravol before departure....she slept the whole flight...6 hours. It was 100 degrees when we arrived on the tarmac in La Romana and took 2 hours to get through customs. Then an hour long bus ride to the resort. She weathered it all like a seasoned traveller...put on her bathing suit and slept by the pool. Felt 100% better the next day and went to Saona Island on a tour. She had the time of her life. last year she got the flu on day 2 of our drive down to WDW. Was barfing from Macon to Orlando...fun...not. Once again, got her into the hotel, threw on her bathing suit and was up the next day and off to Sea World. I guess the point being that I've always found my DD to be extremely resilient when it comes to vacationing while under the weather. Hope you have a great time despite the adversity! :cat:

Oh, Suzy ... those antibiotics will have worked like a charm long before you are ready to go. And even if they didn't, like magic, they will feel better once in Disney. A few years ago, my DD who was 2 at the time, and myself went to the walk-in clinic an hour before leaving for the long drive to WDW. She had a double ear infection (never cried or tugged on her ears once), and I had a wicked sinus infection. The drive down was horrible, but as soon as we got checked into POFQ, I felt like a whole new person. And my DD broke out in chickenpox on the last day driving home from that trip. We did wonder why she was having a psychotic episode the night before driving through Atlanta, screaming "I don't want Fishy crackers" from her car seat ... Ummm, no one had even mentioned fishy crackers :rolleyes1 When the spots appeared the next day, it all made sense.

My friends are still waiting for me to have an "uneventful" trip to WDW. I thought last summer was going to be it, but nope, someone stole our stroller on our last day in MK. We actually found it, but like idiots, had not put our name on it. Just because the tag on it was written in English and French, and can only be bought here at Zellers ... the people from the UK who supposedly brought it with them from England had no identification on it either  I've learned a lot from minor unfortunate instances at Disney ;)

Have a wonderful trip ! You've put a lot of hard work into the planning ... now just go and enjoy!
