Am I the only one that doesn't hate WDW during busy seasons?

When do you like to go to WDW?

  • Only the off-season for me!

  • I like the peak season.

  • I don't like the peak season, but I don't have a choice.

  • I don't really care one way or the other.

I've done WDW in January with hardly anybody there and I've done it Spring Break with the entire rest of civilization. Part of me thinks I prefer it when it's busier.

1) I like warmer weather.
2) I I like better hours.
3) Sometimes I think lines are not much better during slow times because they have less opened and less cars or whatever on the ride running.
4)With fast pass who cares anyway.
5) There's more entertainment during busy hours.
6) For someone like me with no little ones I don't like it as much when pretty much the only people who are there are young couples pushing strollers.

The heat doesn't bother me so much and I'm such an expert:p at WDW touring that I never wait in lines or hang around when the crowds are at their worst - am I nuts? Anybody agree?

You don't have a category for how I feel, so I didn't vote. I prefer the off season, but I will go during peak season occassionally to get that "holiday feeling".

We don't have kids, so our timing is much more flexible. Since we love going to Typhoon Lagoon, we never go in the middle of winter. But, we'd also never consider going over Spring break or from Memorial Day to Labor Day. My favorite time to start a trip is the day after Labor Day. The kids are just going back to school and very few people will take their kids on a vacation that early in the school year. Another favorite time is the first week in May, so we are there for the Flower and Garden Show.

We always go in the summer which is not the highest time, but close. I love the long hours and it seems there is more going on.

I have been there in April and early December. I must say that I enjoyed December so much more. The crowds were unbelievable in April. I just can't see spending that much money to wait in lines for an hour and deal with the crowds.

Early December was absolutely wonderful. The crowds were light, the weather was perfect, and the Christmas decorations were a sight to see!

You're missing some of the slowest weeks of the year there in late August - we're talking Test Track being a walk-on then ;)

Off season for us too! With 4 kids--2 being very little I dont want to wait in line and dont want to be run over by tons of people. We have gone twice in late Sept, going in early to mid Oct this year and I also went for Dis con last yr early Dec. Being there in low season has spoiled us, lol.

We have never gone during peak season, this summer will be our first time. I don't think it will to much trouble. I am more worried about the heat than the crowds.

We've done one summer trip, and that was enough for us. We'll stick to off season from here on out. :)

I love the busy summer season. The heat and rain are kind of a pain, but the extended hours, parades running, etc. are well worth dealing with the crowds and weather. :D

I have to say that we lean towards off-season now. We have made a number of off-season trips after pretty much exclusively going during peak times for 10 years.

I USED to believe that peak-season trips were as good, or better, than off-season trips. After all you could manage the crowds if you knew what you were doing. There USED to be much later hours (until midnight......then 11:00........then 10:00..........then......well, Memorial Day hours are only until 9:00 this year :(). There USED to be more entertainment (with Spectro at 9:00 and 11:00 and fireworks at 10:00.........then only one Spectro and fireworks........then.......well, during Memorial Day weekend/week this year there are no showings of Spectro scheduled :(). There USED to be so much more going on and a festive atmosphere. Now the extra entertainment they used to have at various places in the park during peak season seems to have dried up and all those crowds are packed into parks with shorter hours and less to do........well, the festive atmosphere isn't so festive anymore and those crowds aren't as easy to manage :(.

All things considered, I'll take my 1st week of December trip for as long as we can make it work (the kids won't be in school for a few more years yet). Not trying to be a complete downer on peak season trips - they still have something to offer that off-season trips don't and it still makes for a more Magical experience than you can imagine :). Sometimes I wish I didn't know what it USED to be like ;).

Ill let you know in January, but I think I will be ok with it. ;)
We have gone the last week in August last year and are doing so again this year. Back in 2001, we went 2 weeks after 9/11. Obviously we havent had many crowds on our past 2 trips and Im hoping for the same in August. However, Im biting the bullet and going over Christmas this year. I think I should be ok since Im expecting big crowds, dont feel like I have to do and see everything, and Im mainly going for the Christmas(and my birthday) experience.
To be honset, Im more worried about the cold, than the crowds. Im the type that would prefer 90 degres over 60, and I know it can get a lot colder than that in Dec, LOL!

Until our last trip, we've always gone in the summer...early to mid June. I prefer the summer.

Our last trip we were there from 12/19-01/03, so we got a taste of light crowds and unbelievably huge crowds. During Christmas week it was so crowded it wasn't a lot of fun in the parks, so I don't think we'll stay during that busy a season again. We had a wonderful trip, but the weather was really disappointing. If it wasn't raining, it was very cold. We love the water parks and the pool so I'd prefer to go when it's hot. I get enough cold weather at home!

It does get a bit crowded in the summer, but with the longer hours and fast pass I don't find it to be a problem at all.

So, no holiday seasons again, but it's strictly summer months for us from now on!

We do both, we were there for week in October and in early December. We are going from April 15 thru April 18. We have been before during crowded times. We do different things depending on when we go. For this trip I made all our PS reservations a couple weeks ago. Wife and I will spend all our time at Epcot and Boardwalk and just enjoy World Showcase, restaurants and people wathching and the Swan/Dolphin Grotto.

I'm one of those weird people who likes the crowds; plus the benefits of more shows, longer hours, etc. I have been several times in November when the weather was great and crowds were very managable, but this year, I'm jumping back into the after-Easter week with crowds and looking forward to it.

I am just thrilled to be at WDW, no matter the season.

I do like the lack of lines in the off season, but I love the hot weather in the summer.

Since we have annual passes and go often, it doesn't bother me if I don't get to ride everything. I just like to go and soak it all in!

This past time, it was crowded. We made a list of our must do's in each park... now granted, we weren't in the parks all day, or even close.

We did Buzz at MK, TT at Epcot, RnR and ToT in Disney Studios and DH did Dinosaur at AK (I didn't go that park, as I had an interview at that time).

Now that we were going to be living within 30 minutes of the parks, I won't worry about missing anything ever again!:)

Glad to see I'm not the only hot, sweaty nut who is sublimely happy in the middle of a sea of people trying to get out of the MK after the fireworks!

Thanks for the responses!

My fiance' and I like going during the holidays, which I guess isn't technically Peak season but it's close.;)

We feed off the crowds excitement. I like watching familes laugh together and seeing the kids sleep on their parents lap on the bus at the end of a long day.

We went for the 4th of July last year and are going Christmas week this year. Hopefully we can keep the tradition of going during the holidays. (I'd like to try for Halloween or New Year's Eve on a future trip!)
