Am I the only one that does NOT like Jungle Skipper Canteen?

I am tempted to give it a second chance...and order something different. Not a place that I would get out of my way to go but have to say is convenient and like the theming :)

We had dinner at Skipper Canteen (first time) in April. The food was ok....though I was disappointed to not like the noodle salad appetizer so many people seemed to recommend. Anyway, while the food wasn't anyone's favorite, the experience was very good. The CM who sat us was full on tour guide, corny jokes and all, as she led us to the S.E.A Room. We were seated in the butterfly booth- very cool. Our server, Darrin was very quick with the jokes. He had pun for everything!

humm....... this post makes me to rethink about dining there this summer... never been there before. DH and I grew up eating Chinese food and my kids are dim-sum experts and devour pad thai and chicken masala. I wonder how the food at Skipper would entertain our taste buds....

I've been to SK three times, and like any restaurant it has varied for me on how great it was, but it has always been at least good and satisfying. I think it's the best restaurant in the MK. Most recently, we were there in March. Great waitress, great food, great room.

Been there twice - disappointed twice. Probably won't be back. Didn't even realize that there was supposed to be interaction with the servers going on.

Give it a try. As you can see some people love it some don't. You could be one of the lucky ones!

We liked our food and the WONDERFUL performance of our server but the restaurant was so COLD we escaped before dessert.

No you are not.

We've never needed an ADR, we've always walked up and been seated. That alone should tell me enough. We've been multiple times trying different things but I'm not likely to go again. I think it's overpriced for what you get, and the food hasn't enough variety ... and too many dishes have the "perfume" type flavors. I love all kinds of food, but it seems they hit the one of the things I don't like in most their meals. Kinda strange in that it's not a specific type of food so I don't understand why there isn't a variety of flavors. I liked the original desserts so I would consider stopping in just for that but they changed that menu too.

I hate the big room, it just feels like a giant food court and is loud. The smaller rooms are awesome with great details, but still not enough for me to eat there. I had such high hopes for the place from menu to decor to interaction. Our first server tried, the rest didn't bother.

Would have loved them making it a rotating character meal. Would have been great to be surprised with Jungle Book, Peter Pan, Pirates, Tarzan ... but that was just dreaming.

Totally of case of classic disney inconsistency. We went there in December, and the shu mai were the best I've ever had - so juicy and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Went back in April and just, not good. Bland, dried out, very forgettable. We had great service both times though, so there's that.

I went here last year, and I'll try and avoid going on a rant... but this place is the worst place I have eaten on Disney property!!!!! And I will say that I generally love Disney food and like most everywhere in Disney I have eaten.

The theming is very cool and the location could not be better. But the food was extremely salty to the point of being inedible and none of the ingredients were anywhere near fresh. The quality of the food we were served was worse than a college dining hall and was about as processed as it gets. Like I had that salty taste in my mouth one gets from eating too many sunflower seeds.

The service was extremely slow. We are generally pretty quick eaters in restaurants (i.e. 45-75 minutes), and were here for over two hours. Others around us were getting FP's and things to make up for it, however I chose not to push the issue as it was the evening of MNSSHP and we had wasted enough time.

I don't think that anywhere on Disney property serves especially exotic food, and this is just plain food served in a exotically themed restaurant.

I am sure no one will be surprised to hear that I do not recommend!!

Just curious about what other guests experiences have been at Jungle Skipper Canteen. My food was just not prepared well, it was just bad :( Am I missing something? Did we just went on a bad day
This was our experience soon after they opened, but we’re trying it again in Aug.

We loved the theme and the service but the food wasn't good. I had the chicken and it was barely edible. I picked at the pieces that weren't too hard to chew.

I think our experience was similar to yours. Nothing wrong with giving it a bad review if its for improvement. I don't know what you would consider exotic but the African restaurants at Animal Kingdom Lodge are very good which proves that Disney can prepare great food.

My Dh has the pork when we went and he said it was very “grisly” and fatty. Only about 1/3-1/2 was edible.

I was disappointed to not like the noodle salad appetizer

How bad was the noodle appetizer? I'm looking to eat something light and edible at MK, and I was hoping Skipper's Canteen would fit the bill.

I was planning to order the noodle appetizer for myself, the Siu Mai for my child, and we would split the falafel. While I don't have high expectations for an Amusement Park, I definitely don't want to waste my time on something that's inedible...

We had it an found it totally inedible. The ingredients were over processed junk. We did enjoy the filalfel. It was quite tasty!!

I just didn't like the texture of the noodles...I found them too soft...mushy. I couldn't help but wonder if it was an improperly prepared batch. I did like the falafel well enough, though they were different than what I am accustomed to.

I was very underwhelmed by Skipper Canteen. Probably won't be returning. Food was extremely salty and the server was trying to be nice but was really just annoying the entire time.
