Different strokes for different folks. I really enjoy Skippers. But, now that you mention it, the shumai was underwhelming. My husband had the shumai and it was, Meh...
Give it a try. As you can see some people love it some don't. You could be one of the lucky ones!humm....... this post makes me to rethink about dining there this summer... never been there before. DH and I grew up eating Chinese food and my kids are dim-sum experts and devour pad thai and chicken masala. I wonder how the food at Skipper would entertain our taste buds....
This was our experience soon after they opened, but we’re trying it again in Aug.Just curious about what other guests experiences have been at Jungle Skipper Canteen. My food was just not prepared well, it was just badAm I missing something? Did we just went on a bad day
I think our experience was similar to yours. Nothing wrong with giving it a bad review if its for improvement. I don't know what you would consider exotic but the African restaurants at Animal Kingdom Lodge are very good which proves that Disney can prepare great food.I went here last year, and I'll try and avoid going on a rant... but this place is the worst place I have eaten on Disney property!!!!! And I will say that I generally love Disney food and like most everywhere in Disney I have eaten.
The theming is very cool and the location could not be better. But the food was extremely salty to the point of being inedible and none of the ingredients were anywhere near fresh. The quality of the food we were served was worse than a college dining hall and was about as processed as it gets. Like I had that salty taste in my mouth one gets from eating too many sunflower seeds.
The service was extremely slow. We are generally pretty quick eaters in restaurants (i.e. 45-75 minutes), and were here for over two hours. Others around us were getting FP's and things to make up for it, however I chose not to push the issue as it was the evening of MNSSHP and we had wasted enough time.
I don't think that anywhere on Disney property serves especially exotic food, and this is just plain food served in a exotically themed restaurant.
I am sure no one will be surprised to hear that I do not recommend!!
My Dh has the pork when we went and he said it was very “grisly” and fatty. Only about 1/3-1/2 was edible. We loved the theme and the service but the food wasn't good. I had the chicken and it was barely edible. I picked at the pieces that weren't too hard to chew.
I was disappointed to not like the noodle salad appetizer
How bad was the noodle appetizer? I'm looking to eat something light and edible at MK, and I was hoping Skipper's Canteen would fit the bill.
I was planning to order the noodle appetizer for myself, the Siu Mai for my child, and we would split the falafel. While I don't have high expectations for an Amusement Park, I definitely don't want to waste my time on something that's inedible...
I just didn't like the texture of the noodles...I found them too soft...mushy. I couldn't help but wonder if it was an improperly prepared batch. I did like the falafel well enough, though they were different than what I am accustomed to.How bad was the noodle appetizer?
