Am I the only one that 40% is better than Free dining?

I travel alone with my 9 yr old. She and I can split a CS meal and be happy (she eats very little at any one sitting). I find that I spend less than $30 a day on food for us both.....so the 40% off would be much better for us.

I booked Poly Conceirge with the 40%, so it was a MUCH better deal for us. It was also a better deal for the family going with us (they have a Poly Garden view room) by about $200.

Ok, I'm a little bit of a newbie to these threads, but I do have a question. How did you get the 40% off deal? Was it through a postcard or an email that you received that has a code attached to it?

bumping this as I know that there was a 40% that expired about a month ago..Is there a new discount out or is everybody referring the the last one that had all the controversy of who had a pin and who didnt but still got the 40%:confused3

I would also like the answer to morepsi1's question.... I want 40% off, too!!! (can you tell I am pouting???)

The 40% was a better deal for us at the Poly by around 200 dollars. The deluxes were a much better savings than the values. What sealed the deal though was the dates, we arrive 3 days after the end of the promotion and can't change our dates. I had actually considered switching to FDP at a moderate if the dates were right.

I've been trying to figure this out myself. We are staying at the CBR in September with 40% off and I think we would save a few dollars by switching to free dining (for 2 adults), but nothing earth shattering. Which puts my mind to ease a little... We are going to Disneyland on Friday (I know! :cool1: ) and Thursday is going to be a crazy day -- probably way too crazy to sit around on the phone to save $50.

Of course I'll call when we get back and see if anything's still available for free dining, but I have a a feeling the ressie I have now will stand.

PS -- to the poster who said the last week of September was nice weather -- you must be far more tolerant of the heat than I am! :) We were there the last week of September last year and found it to be quite miserably hot. To the point of getting sick a couple days.

Of course, it's not stopping us from repeating this time -- the small crowds were a definite bonus. Just have to remember to buy a hat this year...:wizard:

I booked free dining for my SIL this morning, but I kept our 40% ressie as it is a better deal. We are saving almost $600 MORE than if we had free dining. I think that the 40% discount is a better deal when you are staying deluxe - otherwise, I *think* that free dining is a better savings.

That is the way I figured it out to be too! Staying at POP like we are wouldn't do a heck of lot for 40% off.

school days missed. Not worth it here. I was very relieved to run the numbers! I'm glad people were able to get the free dining, especially those that didn't get the 40% but am very happy to still be going for Fall break. IF it was earlier in August and we could drive down and not miss school, I'd be mighty tempted though. School starts here on the 14th. Ugh. We would save money because we could drive down if we didn't get cheap airfare. I'm still waiting for my air deal for October.

How do you get the 40% off? I am looking to go Aug 10-18 since school starts on the 22nd. Right now I can only find 20% with AAA.

We kept our 40% deal. Since we are staying at a moderate this time, we would of saved around $150 with the free dining. However, we would of had to switch our dates. After much debate between my DH and I, we decided to keep what we have--40% off was still a great deal and we believe we will have less crowds.

Our family would probably not enjoy staying at a budget hotel. We would have 4 "adults" in one room and 3 "adults" and 1 child in a connecting room. Those budget rooms are small for four full sized adults. We generally stay at a deluxe or moderate resort. It wouldn't be worth it to us to go smaller on accomodations. I know we will be much happier w/ our 40% off Saratoga (2 bedroom) in December when it's cooler. We won't have free dining BUT we will have the freedom to order off the kid's menu for our bird-like eating, just turned ten year old (not forced to pay the adult price unless we go to a buffet). We will also share many appys, entrees and desserts. We will not be tempted to order desserts that we are not hungry enough to eat. We will also be able to have Christmas Dinner in our villa instead of fighting the crowds (if that's what we decide to do) I am not tempted by the free dining but I have looked into it for other folks that might be interested. I am very happy for those who can take advantage of the free dining offer! There was a time, when our kids were little when we would have jumped on the offer!

It was beaten to death a while back. But it is dead. There are off and on deals though so stick around. Maybe a date and a deal will work out for you.

I agree the free dining would be nice, but I'll spend the extra money and hope for smaller crowds. Now 40% would be wonderful, but I did see on another website that show historical times when what discounts were offered when. I think they might actually have one when I am going so :cool1: :cool1:

I switched from the 40% to the free dining. I asked the CM to price the package and the free dining worked out to be about $50 cheaper. But we are staying at a value, ASMu.

We saved over $1100 with the 40% off at the CR for a Tower MK view room. Free dining (2A/3C) would have only saved us $777.

i was able to book CR Dec 16-22 for 3 adults 1 child with park hoppers and dining for $2847.00 but if we changed and went for free dining looks like it would be around $31XX. I noticed alot of 40% people changing theirs to the free dining because it is cheaper why isn't it cheaper for me plus we would be going at a value time compared to a regular time?

i don't really want to change my Dec. ressies but our friends said if we go in Sept they would go. Of course this is after I heard all the great replys about Christmas and have my heart set on it now. But I can't with draw the invite now. :confused3

Am I calculating free dining wrong?

My 40% is way better than free dining...the more expensive the hotel, the better deal that 40% off is...free dining would save me $1100, the 40% off saved me almost $1700.
