...that the Grand Villas cost more points than TWO 2 BR units? Is there some reason that I'm missing?

If I was going with 12 people, I think I'd rather have more beds and four bathrooms offered in the pair of 2 BR units and save some points as well. That way, not everyone would have to "double up" on the beds if they didn't want to. Plusl all the benefits of two kitchens, washer/dyers, etc....

But for those who want or even NEED to be all in one unit, the GV is a better choice. At OKW, the GVs have 4 bathrooms, so the number of bathrooms is the same as 2 -2 bedrooms.

Are you sure? I was told by DVC just yesterday that OKW has 3 baths, but SS has 4. Or did I hear incorrectly? (very possible - there was a LOT of info!)

Well, every OKW GV I have stayed in has 4. One in each of the three bedrooms plus a 3/4 bath with shower in the downstairs hallway.

All GVs have 4 bathrooms, although as Diane mentioned, one will have just a shower.

Also remember the GV gives you larger, seperate kitchen/dining areas making the Living Room area feel larger.

I'm not going to argue against having the double washer/driers in 2 2brs... with that many people the single usit would be running continously. But then again, I think anyone who's renting the GV would be more apt to send their laundy OUT to be done :teeth: I know I would!

OKW Grand Villas have 4 bathrooms. One in the Master Bedroom. One in the hallway downstairs ( this one only has a shower). Then one in each of the bedrooms upstairs.

I agree with the OP. Except for ther "Wow" factor, 2 two bedrooms are most likely a more practical use of points.

I wish I had the points to make that difficult choice :)

if you're reserving 2 2brms, there's no guarantee they will be anywhere near each other.

My SIL and I just noticed this last week as we are planning a November 07 trip. Thought it was very strange, and we said we would much rather have 2 2 bedrooms. The younger rowdy ones can stay in one and us in another.

2 - 2bedrooms are MORE points than a Grand Villa at OKW.

Same at VB and HHI

Interesting to note that on Fri-Sat the GV is cheaper than the 2 2brs at BW(std) and SSR but not so Sun-Th

I noticed that 2 2bdrms are less than a GV in the planning of my "big family trip" to take place next June. So, I was able to get each sister and their fams a 2bdrm and my bro's fam a 1 bdrm. Everyone will have their own space to retreat to(or escape to) when needed. :rolleyes1

I'm not surprised at the costs of GV's, I am surprised that they expect 2 people to sleep in double beds. I think I'm remembering correctly, at OKW is there a bedroom with 2 doubles.

Then I remember that DVC is full of families with children, and that room would be fine. This must be what they mean by "senior moment."

Yet for us, I think the GV will work best with 7. 4 adults and 3 children. I'm really hung up that everyone should have a bed and not a sofa bed.

Thanks for the info re: GVs @ OKW. I checked my notes - I'm pretty sure I was told 3 BA, because I mentioned I thought the rooms were bigger at OKW (a plus for buying there if I wanted to try and book GVs), and she said that was true for all rooms except for the GVs, and that SS had an add'l bath.

So, thanks again for the info!

Just to prove to you that OKW GVs DO have 4 baths. Please note the FOURTH BATH in the downstairs hall outside the master.

OKW 2 bedroom - 22,24,27,30,41 points weekday, 54,56,64,73,100 points weekend.
OKW Grand Villa - 36,38,45,51,66 points weekday, 88,91,107,123,162 points weekend.

Much cheaper for a GV at OKW then two 2-bedrooms.

Others can correct me if I'm wrong. My recollection is that for OKW, the 2 BR has a split plan for the master BA with the whirlpool and sink plus a closet in one room and the shower and commode in the other. Some have a second access through the laundry and some do not. I believe that SSR has this basic set up plus a full separate 3/4 bath. I am thinking that the set up for the OKW 3 BR is to take the same basic design as the 2 BR and put a commode in each room with separate access but a connecting door between and call it two BA but if you want a shower, you have to access the 3/4 bath through the connecting door. So it would have the same number of Baths but with one less shower and without the 2 room BA for the master.
