Am I the Only One Not Interested in Water Parks?

My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon in July and have absolutely no intenentions on visiting the water parks. We have been getting a lot of grief about this and people are sure we will change our minds when we experience the heat. I know it will be hot but I would much rather take a quick dip in the pool at our resort than waste an entire day or part of day at a water park. We are not water park people and I think it would be a waste of money. Are we the only ones? Are there others out their who are not interested in the water parks or are they a part of every WDW visit? Please respond because right now I feel like we are the only two people to think this way.

Nope, I have no interest either. The girls like them though, so DH will take them while I go to EPCOT or Sea World instead. Then again, I don't really like the water and the only time I ever get in the pool is to tag along with DD3 to keep her safe. Heck, I'm doing good to ride Splash Mountain - I just don't like to get wet! :umbrella:

Out of 6 trips I have been to the water parks once. That was an 8 day trip. My thoughts are if I'm there 5 or 6 days I will be at the main parks.....but I loved my water parks trip. I was 32 weeks pregnant and went round and round the lazy river while DH did the slides. And to be honest my appearance in a bathing suit was part of the reason I had never wanted to go. But I went and on longer trips we will probably go again - especially when Sammi gets bigger and will enjoy them. But no - I think you can have an incredible trip wihtout ever setting foot in a water park.

You are not the only one! DH and I have made numerous trips and stayed
on site but have never been to the water parks and never have plans to. We live on the coast and have no desire to hit water while at Disney- too much else to see!

I could quite happily not go to the water parks - went for the first time in my life last year (Tyhoon Lagoon). Was ok. But I'm really wussy about getting water in my eyes. I'm paranoid about losing a contact, or that it will sting. I'm a wimp. That being said, the slides were pretty fun.
My DBF luuuuuuves them, though. So we'll probably spend an afternoon at Blizzard Beach this Feb.

We did many trips until our first time at the water parks. Which was only earlier this year. I am now a die hard Typhoon Lagoon fan. I have never been a waterpark fan. However, the theming was so incredible, I felt like I was truly on a whole different vacation in a tropical paradise. It was really great. It was also pretty empty the couple of times we went. I'm not sure I would like it in July when it gets really busy. I do think though, you don't HAVE to go to them to have a great trip. They just aren't for some people.

We've never had the desire to go to a water park. Maybe when our girls are a bit older.

We are not water park people

I think that answers your question.

DW and I went to Typhoon Lagoon 10 years ago on our honeymoon. We enjoyed it, but it's not something we needed to do all the time. I'm looking forward to Blizzard Beach once the kids are older.

Since you're going in July, I would definitely not go. I have heard that they fill to capacity shortly after opening. I'd rather not spend my day waiting in hot lines for a short water slide ride. (I'd rather wait in hot lines for a short theme park ride...LOL)

Well I'm certainly glad that it's not just us. I just couldn't justify "wasting" all that time when I could be at the parks.

Count me in!! Never been and won't unless kids ask, lucky for me they haven't!!

So, don't feel bad.

My first three trips to WDW we did a water park. Typhoon Lagoon twice and Blizzard Beach once. Both have great atmospheres and were fun but we only stayed 2-3 hours and we were ready to leave. I am not the type to lay in the sun and felt time could be better spent exploring other parts of WDW and the Orlando area. The following 5 trips to WDW have not included water parks. 20 minutes to half an hour at the resort pool, a couple times during the whole trip, is more than enough for me.

I used to think I was bad because I didn't want to go to the water parks! I cannot swim, almost drown, and have a hard time watching other people in the water! My daughter (age 15) does not feel that way. BUT, she doesn't like crowds and is very modest and does not like to be oogled (she is beautiful, slender, and a size 0/1). So, she prefers the quiet pools as opposed to the ones with a slide. She also prefers to spend her time in the main parks. When we do take a break, its mini-golf or DTD.

YOU DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY. Don't worry about others!

We don't do water parks, and probably wouldn't even if we didn't have 6 small children. Rather spend my time elsewhere. :)

I'm not really a water person, I usually avoid visiting the pool...so waterparks aren't a big draw for me. I know DH would like to revisit them at sometime in the future, so I will probably go again. But it's not on the top of my list.

Personally I could take 'em or leave 'em but since the new passes include DQ as a plus, I would probably end up getting the plus options. The kids like the water parks but we have one pretty close to home anyway so it's nothing especially different. Since you're going on your honeymoon however, you might want Pleasure Island included in your passes.

We have 7-day park hopper plus passes. It was my understanding that DQ was not included as a plus. We will definitely be going to the Adventurer's Club at PI but I don't know what we should do with the other pluses since we aren't water park people. Any suggestions? Is DQ included?

My DH and I went years without trying the water parks. I felt the same way as you all - no interest, never been to a water park that I liked, etc. I can't remember why we eventually broke down and went, but I can't imagine life without Typhoon Lagoon in the summer anymore! I could spend hours and hours in the lazy river and the slides are good fun too. I did not like Blizzard Beach; I think TL is more relaxing and lush.

So my point is, maybe just consider giving TL a try! I'm so glad I did!

The wave pool at TL is incredible! The slides are lame and old. Good thing they are rehabbing soon.

BB is great! The best time to go is in the rain! You are already wet! And the place will be empty!

no you are not alone we never visit the water parks
