Am I the only one disppointed in Yacht Club?

I agree with tarheel....the YC and BC do not have a "cafeteria" type place to run and and get a quick coffee and bagel in the morning, or a quick breakfast sandwich, etc., like Gasparilla at GF or Roaring Forks at WL.....that is one thing they are definitely lacking.

Both the YC/BC offer quick breakfasts in their lobbies now. Coffee, bagels, muffins, juice etc are available from 7am.. While not cafeteria style, it works well.

HollyM,
I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at the YC. The YC is our favorite resort, and in 8 different visits, it has yet to dissappoint us. Exactly the opposite actually. We just returned from our trip three weeks ago, and it was yet another wonderful trip!! The CM's went out of their way for us, and housekeeping as well. I know the rain can stink at times, but we throw on our poncho, and grab an umbrella and go!!
Hopefully you'll give it another try one day.
;)

OP here - let me add one thing - we aren't total wimps about the rain like it sounded. This was our last night there and mostly everything was packed and out in the parking lot - ponchos included! It was just rain - this was the dangerous lightening storm which killed one of Animal Kingdoms giraffes - so, we weren't venturing out on the lake in that mess!! Thanks for all the replies.

I didn't think you were a wimp, rather there is no way the hotel could have enough extra restaurant seating to handle so many people changing their dining plans due to the weather. Sounds like even going to Swan/Dolphin would have been an adventure.

There simply aren't adequate eatery options available at the resort - especially for dinner. We were rained in a couple of evenings and didn't want to venture out to our pre-arranged reservations at Epcot. The Yacht Club only has one restaurant availbe for dinner - Yachtsman steakhouse - it was full and not accepting any walkins. Beaches and cream at Beach Club was taking walkins for 90 minutes later. Cape May at Beach Club was also full and not taking walkins. Our only option was room service. The fact the the Yacht Club has another restaurant, the Galley, which is closed for dinner made this situation even more frustrating.

I would have to take issue with this statement, not disputing the fact that there are two restaurants plus a counter service open for dinner, but...the amount of eateries in the Epcot resort area are substantial. I understand about not wanting to venture out in the rain, but just because YC has only 3 areas to eat in for dinner isn't exactly a reason to give it a black mark. As one of the other posters stated, WL has only two restaurants as well, and that resort is more or less isolated.

When my wife and I stayed at YC on our honeymoon we were very pleased with CMs, although that was several years ago. I do agree with a couple of the posters in that the CMs personalities might be more business-like because they do tend to have more convention/business traffic due to the Convention Center.

The bus problem is exactly why I would never stay anywhere on property without having a rental car. You just never know what you're going to run into.

Helen...I wouldn't worry too much about your YC stay. If you run into a problem, make certain that you bring it to the attention of the front desk and/or manager right away. We did this when we didn't like the fact that our water view room was blocked by a tree. A CM was at our door in less than 10 mins and moved us to a room with a beautiful view of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk.

We loved the YC. Found the service to be excellent-and friendly. One night we came home to an autographed character picture and balloons for our girls, which I thought most magical!

I did remember wishing the YC/BC had a casual dinner option that was not a buffet. B&C is just too small.

We too found the dining possibilites at the YC to be limited, however everything else we found to be overwhelmingly positive. There were times we'd walk over to Boardwalk for a bite or walk to Epcot a find something to eat. That being said we didn't have thunderstorms to deal with. I found that the location of YC is probably its biggest asset. This was our first stay in the Epcot Resort area and loved being able to walk to Epcot or take a short boat ride to MGM or short walk to Boardwalk. I usually couldn't afford to stay there but had a deep discount. We drive and take food with us, so times that we found ourselves at the room with few dinner options we'd have a sandwich in the room. We usually have our big meal at lunch anyway...If I had the chance to go back ot the same rate, I'd do it without hesitation.

Thanks for the info everyone! I am really looking forward to our stay at the YC and really appreciate everyone's comments. I read about the rian and lightening storm that killed the geraffe and I WOULDN'T have gone out in that rain EITHER!

Brian, thanks for the boost! I feel a lot better about any questions that I might have and weather I should say anything if there was a problem. It looks like you and the family will be there the same time we will! HAVE FUN!
