Am I the only one annoyed by this??

Great! Thanks to this thread I now feel pressure to edit each and every post. Believe it or not this response took 15 minutes- with all of the rereading and editing. I'm not sure that I can take the stress.

This is something that really bothers me too. Now, I am a horrid speller and typist, but I’ve found that either writing a post in Word (or ‘cutting & pasting’ into Word to spell check) makes my posts readable. Hopefully anyway.

If a post is in ALL caps, one long, run-on paragraph, or too many typos I don’t bother to reply. If they don’t care enough about their post, why should I?

I have been annoyed all my life by bad grammar. I do realize in my old age that it is not necessarily a sign of intelligence so I try not to make snap judgements about it.

I have a degree in English and Speech so it's pretty much par for my course. I cringe but try not to let it bug me too much.

As for the long paragraphs, sometimes I copy and paste them onto a document, split them up and THEN read them! Especially trip reports, it makes it easier for me.

I know I am so guilty of this but it is the internet. Most people do not use caps at all on the net and seeing as though I made A's in English all the way through college makes me kind of chuckle at this post.

I am pretty sure we know how to write, we just choose not to take the time to do it on the internet. It is a disney message board, not a Literature Report.

I only get bugged by grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
if they are glaring. Upper case doesn't bother me nor does
all lower case. I don't mind abbreviations either. I really don't
think everyone is perfect. I recently corrected a post, mostly because the post itself bothered me but it was full of what I thought were errors. Another poster set me straight.
That will be the last time I even give thought to spelling, tense, punctuation or case on the DIS. From now on-simply content
will ruffle my feathers.

I just find that those type of posts can be hard to read. I know that I am not perfect, or even close when it comes to spelling, grammer and punctuation, but I do try.

Froggy ~~ You have a reason to type the way you do. I'll admit the first time I read one of your posts, I was annoyed, but then I read your story and now it does not bother me at all.
::yes:: Yep!

I don't mind the lack of capitals so much or even the length, but the run-on sentences really get to me. I'm a stickler about spelling, but I try not to get upset about that....some are good spellers, and some aren't, and LOTS of people miss typos when they're posting.....I can deal with that.

But the long sentences with no punctuation do bother me. In those, you don't know where to stop reading, and if you just keep going, it doesn't make sense.

I'm not easily annoyed, so it doesn't bother me. I actually like reading one LONG trip report instead of going searching for several days.

i didnt relaize that writtin comminication on the disboard reqiured formal wirting skills i guess i'll have to start running my posts thruogh the speling and grmmer checkr

I agree there are some posts that are annoying because of misspellings, incorrect grammar, all caps and run-on sentences. However, I think we all need to give one another a break.

In some work places, the keyboard is locked on all caps when someone is on the internet.

Sometimes posters are in a hurry to dash off a thought and don't pay close attention.

We tend to write here like we would speak to a friend. We don't speak to our friends the same way we might speak in public. We don't write to our friends the same way we would write our dissertation.

DD and I had a long-distance relationship for many years before we were married. Our letters could fill volumes (although I would die if anyone ever read them). I used to critique his letters, especially the way he spelled ... "I whent to the movies." It drove me nuts! But if I had spent my time criticizing him for his deficiencies, not only would I have missed the beautiful things he said, but I would have deterred him from writing again. Our relationship would not be the same today.
