We leave in 2 days- this Friday, 10/21, to stay at WL. It's our first time actually staying there. Though we are really excited, there's the tinge of regret in booking here, due to the construction. Any thoughts, tips, experiences? Obviously it's too late to change hotels, and on Monday, we actually switch to Bay Lake for 2 nights, as a split stay.

Any feedback and helpful pointers to enjoying our stay at WL would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you DisPeeps!

If you'll be at the parks you probably won't hear or be put off by the construction -- and since you'll be there for only a few days too, enjoy and have fun!

WL is our all time favorite resort. We have stayed there for years( youngest is now over three, so we are out of one room there). I would not worry about a thing. The pool is amazing, the boat trip to MK is great, bus service is awesome. The lodge is a magical place with a great vibe. I haven't experienced the construction, but all places have to get upgraded at some time or another. Focus on your family and enjoy all the parks. Wish I were going there too! Have a magic bar from Roaring Forks for me :)

Thank you!!
We LOVVVVVVE the Wilderness Lodge, I've just never stayed there. Very VERY excited. We eat at Whispering Canyon night one, I'm excited to have some laughs and pig out on BBQ.

Any tips on how to get to and from Epcot and MK from WL? I know you can take the boat-
Thanks!

What's a magic bar? I will look for one!

Have you checked to see if it's possible to change to another resort?

No way would I switch or regret it. We stayed at resorts under construction and it really is no bother. WL looks beautiful and I have always wanted to stay there. At some points the resorts, parks, rides etc. get renovated and updated. You just have to have a good attitude since you can't change it. Go and have fun!

Since you are switching, just stay and enjoy! The rate to stay there couldn't be beat, we were too big of a family for what they had left though :(

Yes, except we used Disney Vacation Points, which really wasn't smart on my end, since WL is giving out crazy low rates and my points stay the same. I just really wanted to stay there!

Magic bars are awesome seven layer cookie bars, with coconut and chocolate chips. Soooo yummy. The homemade potato chips from the QS are great too. I know you will have a great time.
I'm sure inside the lobby you won't hear a thing.
There is a hidden Mickey scavenger hunt throughout the lodge if you have time to kill. Ask the front desk for the paper list of clues. It's really fun. Enjoy!

We stayed at WL for the first time in Aug. and the construction in no way impacted our trip. In fact, WL is now my favorite resort, I absolutely fell in love with it
I also had 3 Magic Bars and that was showing A LOT of self-control :rolleyes1

This exactly. Haven't been during the construction but an awesome resort (lobby, qs, boatride to MK, etc). Love this hotel. Enjoy.

Quite a few people are saying that they really enjoyed the stay during construction as nothing is crowded. Half the hotel is shut down so that's less people.

Enjoy your stay and if you can manage one more Magic bar have one for me too!

We leave in 16 days Our first family trip coming from the UK. We booked 18 months ago before construction was announced, but I'm still excited!

Lots of people staying there. The view of the cabin foundations being constructed on the lake saddens me too much to have stayed there myself, but if it's new for you, that feeling won't be there.

We stayed 23 Sept to 8 Oct in a courtyard view room and didn't really notice the construction. Its a beautiful hotel and the fact that many rooms are closed for remodelling means the buses were quiet.

My only two problems were that buses often went via the comtemporay or For Wilderness and Magical Express was awful (but I think that was a hurricane issue)

I *love* WL.
I don't know how much effect the construction is having. But it is lovely generally speaking. I never had magic bar though, so I might have to get one on my trip over from the poly next time.
Can you still sign up for flag raising? We loved that.

Easiest way to Epcot take boat to MK take monorail to TTC and change to Epcot Monorail. Much easier then the bus which I think makes other stops before heading to Epcot.

I agree! :thumbsup2

We love WL and have stayed during the construction and it is a non issue. Has zero impact on our stay. Well, unless you count that with only half the resort in use the crowds around the resorts are really small so it's even more quiet than normal. To me, that's a good thing, not a bad one. We are planning to return in April for our anniversary. Out of all resorts on property it's where we want to be for that trip.

You can take the boat to the Contemporary and then the monorail to Epcot, but that will take at least 40 minutes. The easiest way to Epcot is via bus.
The bus to Epcot only takes about 20 minutes. It stops at Fort Wilderness first but from there it is direct to the park.
