So sorry about what you're going through. Families, don't you love them or hate them.
Please make sure you take extra care of yourself at this particularly stressful time. You have done more than so many would have for your Mom, take advantage of the break you have earned.

Ask yourself why you care about what your brother thinks? You don't need his approval. It sounds as if you went over and above while taking care of your Mom. The way they handled this was petty and controlling. I assume they accomplished what they were after, to make you feel guilty because they had to handle the situation.

Don't allow it to happen.

Being chronically ill and not looking it physically is difficult for some people to accept. My mother has MS and was a total invalid and there were a few ignorant relatives that told her she could walk if she wanted to. Again, you have nothing to prove.

Edited to say: I very seldom respond to these threads and now I'll go back to my regularly scheduled middle of the road opinions and one line wise cracks...
