Am I overplanned?

I'm going with a friend this February. These are the ADR's and sort of rough plans I had. Does this look like too much?

My main motivation on the breakfasts was in hopes of getting an edge at rope drop. Tusker House was sort of an after-thought, but it hit me yesterday that it might set us up to rope drop Kilaminjaro Safari. My plan for AK is (if the Fastpass/Rope Drop gods are with us) to do most of the shows and big rides on Tuesday and sort of do more of the zoo type stuff Thursday (and maybe attempt a second FOP fast pass) morning before heading over to Epcot.

I digress...does this look reasonable or are my eyes bigger than my stomach? I may or may not have spent the last 6 months watching dining reviews for Disney restaurants obsessively and gotten carried away here. lol

It’s me and one other adult.

So, maybe ditch Tusker House and the skipper canteen slot? (I guess Tusker House isn’t buying us a whole, whole lot)

Is 50s Primetime and Sci Fi too much in one day? I was a little worried about that, but had heard it described as sort of a dressed up quick service so thought if we do sandwiches it might be ok?

I can't do 3 formal meals a day so IMO this is too much.
That being said I completely ignore medicos' belief that we should all eat breakfast, LOL.
Got that off my chest so now off to how you eat;).
Since your research has shown you that breakfast will give you an edge on park entrances keep them but think about less TS lunches. I can't say anything about your MK lunches since I rarely eat in that park.
HTH.

Yeah, I plan on eating a light breakfast in the room (like fruit or yogurt and maybe a bagel) on mornings we don’t have a reservation.

So, is it too much food or the schedule would be too confining or both?

I would keep both Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time, even though they're both table service. Both are highly-themed restaurants and worth doing if you've never been to either one before. If you don't feel like a full meal at dinner you could just order an appetizer and dessert.

Which ones would you recommend dropping?

All TS lunches or plan early lunch and ditch all TS breakfast including BOG. We usually hit the road before RD with snack, muffin or such then do lunch after 10:30. We plan the evening meal later around 7. If we need to snack (we usually drink beer or wine during the afternoon) we will grab a QS snack around 3. When we get back to the resort (11ish) we hit the resort QS for Cheesecake and other tasty treats. Then repeat.

A lot of people here will tell you anything more than 1 TS per day is too much. We disagree. We always eat 2 TS per day. One is usually breakfast or an early lunch. The other is dinner. I always schedule plenty of time in between. The only negative to this plan is we're rarely hungry between meals.

We don't find TS breakfasts or lunches take up a lot more time than CS meals at prime times. Three TS a day would be too much food for us, but the same is true for a TS & two CS meals or a TS meal, a CS meal & 2 snacks. It's all personal perspective, but we don't find CS meals less filling than TS meals. Some of the snacks can be as filling as a meal, as well.

Is this better or does it need to be more pared down?

I often will do 2 TS meals per day on my trips. I try to schedule them at least 6-7 hours apart to allow for things to digest. That being said, I have 2 suggestions:
  1. Re-schedule Chefs de France to a little later in the day. Garden Grill is a lot of food and you could easily snack your way around World Showcase for "lunch" if needed.
  2. Sci-Fi has some sandwiches that are pretty good. If you get a milkshake, they are substantial and will stick with you. So, I'd think about getting a later time for 50's PT if you can. The meals there are "comfort food" (personal favorite is the Pot Roast).
Looks like you have some great plans! Hope you have lots fun no matter what you decide to do.

IMO....no more than 1 ADR per day...more than that and u spend the entire day chasing ur food schedule!

My suggestions would be to move Chefs de France to dinner and to push back the Sci Fi time to maybe 6:30 or 7. We usually go TS for our meals in a Disney, we like to sit down in the A/C without having to fight for a table, so I don’t think you are too overbooked now.

Your plans look okay but you are putting yourself in a box in my opinion. In 2013, my husband and I did the dining plan and made reservations for lunch and dinner and felt like we had no freedom. Plus, it was too much food. We are going for a week in January and made reservations for dinner only except one day.

Day 1 - Via Napoli

Day 2 - San Angel Inn

Day 3 - BOG for Breakfast and then T-Rex for Dinner

Day 4 - Nine Dragons

Day 5 - La Hacienda

Day 6 - Le Cellier (decided to give it a second try after our first disappointment)

and one other I forgot (sorry)

My family often books two ADR's per day, but not every day. We like a PPO breakfast in Epcot, it gives us an edge there. We have booked TH in DAK< however it was not that much of a jump start, so not worth it to us. BOG breakfast can be a bit of a head start, so if you wnat to see the inside of the Castle, book it. If not, maybe book lunch. It is pretty, and the food is good.

If your only reason for PPO breakfast is to give you an edge, I would drop them all.

I would move Chefs to dinner, keep both Sci Fi and 50's in DHS. You can share those meals and have plenty of food, a nice break and see them both.

In MK Skippers was my daughter's family favorite meal. I would keep it. Again you do not need to order three courses.

I don't know why people say 1 TS meal per day is too much food. We eat three times a day at home, so vacation is no different. We may not book three, but we do eat. We like having a scheduled break (when I say we, I mean me) because it is way too easy to get carried away with "one more attraction" before we eat and by the time we stop I am a mess.

My DD and DSIL do not want lunches booked this trip, but not because they do not want the break. They have discovered the world of DIsney snacks, and since all of our trips have some focus, the snacks are on this year's schedule. Apparently we have missed a lot of good ones because Mom's need to hit TS restaurants filled them up! LOL!

I also suggest that if you are really not sure how you will feel, book your meals. You can drop them if you find you are too restricted. Or since there are only two of you, book the ones you know you really want wing it for the rest. YOu can check the AP to see what is open when you are getting ready to eat, and turn it into an adventure. SOme of our best meals were booked on the fly.

I also think two TS meals a day is a lot. It’s “wasted” time in my opinion. I do enjoy the break and having a place to really sit and relax without fighting for a table, but if you want to see and do things, all those sit down meals eat up a lot of time. For RD I would ditch the breakfast, grab something quick and just get in line with the rest.

Are you going JUST to eat? I know that's some people's idea of a vacation, so I'm not judging, but taking 5 to 6 hours a day eating doesn't leave much time for other things. Plus I'd need to take a nap after filling up at breakfast and lunch.

It's too much for us. We typically do one ADR a day, typically dinner, occasionally breakfast.

Sometimes we will do two in a day if it's the only day we can get a ressie we really want, but that would be breakfast and dinner. Never two meals back to back.

Others suggestions are good. You don't want to be too bogged down by all that food, not to mention I don't know about you but when I'm hot I'm more thirsty then hungry anyway!

Good luck!
