Am I overly freaking out?!

I have been SO excited about our trip...until recently.

We leave on Saturday and I was just reading that the parade taping is now scheduled for ALL THREE of our trip days. I HATE that I scheduled our trip purposely avoiding the suspected days of the taping and it got changed to exactly our dates. I know I am not the only one who had this to happen to them. Luckily, the "main" parade taping is on December 8th and that is the day we are only doing our 3 FP's and leaving MK after...since that was the only day I could secure an A&E FP. My kiddos just really want to be able to ride most of everything at MK. We did that when we went for Spring Break
in March. Only thing we didn't get to was Astro Orbiter!

Am I overly freaking out for no reason? I think I just need a Xanax :lmao:

I am absolutely not an expert and am going next week for the first time at Christmas (arrive on the 9th, MK on the 10th so missing it) but I just was reading on Kenny the Pirate and he said it doesn't change anything except adding a bit of a traffic jam on Main Street.

I would not freak out and hope that in return for a little extra bustle you get a glimpse of someone famous! :cool2:

I'm more bummed about weather in the 60s :beach:

I wouldn't worry about it not really anything you can do. I would avoid the taping areas if possible. I will be at MK during the filming and just plan to use my FP get in early as possible and enjoy the day because there is nothing I can do about crowds and I won't let it ruin any of my days. Good luck :)

I would NOT freak out!! I am an uber planner and, in general, try to control everything and have a back-up plan for my back-up plan LOL! But! Your trip is what you make it. Go in with a great attitude, zig when all others zag, get there early, utilize FP, and have a magical time! Only you can control your reaction to what is happening there at any given moment.:thumbsup2

I've been on parade days our last two trips, and honestly, other than being filtered around the taping on Main street on the way in or out, it wasn't an issue at all...DD even took some photos with some crew members during breaks...really was kind of cool being there when they filmed then watching it on Christmas morning.

Thanks for the responses everyone. They were all amazing and just what I needed to hear gearing up for this trip! :goodvibes

Another thing to keep in mind - if it's open (and that's a big "if" as I've never gone during a taping), you may want to consider using the train as a means of transportation to get back to Main Street from either Frontierland or Fantasyland. If it's open and you can hop on the train when you want to leave the park, you will bypass the Main St. crowds altogether. You can do this going into the park as well if you don't want to walk up Main St.

My kiddos just really want to be able to ride most of everything at MK.

With that as your goal, I don't see how Main Street parade taping is going to interfere at all.

We've been to MK a few years when taping was going on for the parade. As others have said, it seems only Main St. is really impacted, and you can walk thru the shops if needed. My dd enjoyed getting a glimpse of Disney channel stars a few times. One year, I forget where we were staying, but we tried to go to Poly for breakfast, didn't have ressies, no cars were being admitted, went to GF instead and after breakfast had a LONG wait (over an hour, thankfully I forget how long it was) in a HUGE line for the boat. Monorail, bus and cabs had something going on also and weren't available. My DH had dropped us off so we had no choice but to wait! Rumor had it that Justin B. was holding up traffic!

I definitely keep hearing that while taping is going on, there's no issues at all. Rest of park is the same. Some people have said it does get extremely crowded that night because all the people who attend the taping as guests then hang out to enjoy the parks for the rest of the day/evening, which adds to the already-busy Monday crowd in MK. Plus it's also the only nite MK is open for regular admission early in the week, if you hope to save the Sun or Tues party ticket cost.

okay... i know nothing about where the tapings are or really anything about the parade except that i watch it...

but i do know about crowds. I went three days before Christmas and probably one of the worst days during Spring Break. Your trip is what you decide it to be if you want to complain about the crowds all day that might be all you remember...

We always tried to avoid main street, cut corners, walk the long way (the road less traveled), planned our fastpasses well, we ate lunch at 2 and dinner at 8, somehow managed to only pee once all day... etc.

Also, on a fun note we kept track of how many times we were pushed/ ran over by strollers/ ran over by adults acting worse then their children/ parents on the phone ignoring their children..... it made a bit of fun out of the whole crowds thing and each person kept their own mental tally. We were ran over by strollers 32 times if you were curious, but also we rode every ride in one day in our group of four at MK! minus child rides (circus area/magic carpets) and the railroad.

bottom line.... you PAID a lot of money for this, you SPENT a lot of time planning this. Make it worth it in great memories and don't let the crowds/ cameras/ tapings bother you...
