Am I over complicating things?

We are hoping to visit WDW Summer 2022 from the UK all being well. We had originally planned to travel in August, but have had to update our plans slightly and our time will span my August Use Year. My home resort is BWV and ideally would like 12 nights in a standard 2 bedroom from July 28th onwards. I know I need to try for two reservations, one for July and a separate one starting 1st August, I also need to borrow points from August 2022 use year for the July portion and then from 2023 for the August portion because I rented out all my 2021 points thinking I wouldn't need them.
I also know how hard it is to get a BVW 2 bedroom standard view and that I cannot even walk the second reservation because of my use year, but I have enough points to get a preferred for the August part, so that isn't that big a deal, but I cannot borrow enough with the current restriction to get a preferred view for the July part. I f I cannot get a standard view, I would rather book AKL or OKW at 7 months, but am not sure how that would work with points as if I have already booked the August part, I am thinking all my 2022 points will be allocated to that and not available to borrow. I am thinking I need to book something at BWV that equates to around the same amount of points I will need to complete a AKL/OKW booking just so that those points are already in the correct use year. I wouldn't mind forfeiting a couple of points or having to buy one use points to complete a booking at 7 months. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Yes. My upcoming late November/early December trip at VGF spans my Dec UY. With the advice and encouragement of a few disboard members, I booked the November portion and then called Member Services to modify the reservation to add the December nights. You cannot make a single reservation that crosses UYs but MS can.

Later, you can add the additional nights (of necessary) by calling again. Unfortunately, you cannot do an online modification of a reservation that MS has created when it crosses a UY.

Thank you!
so my main priority is just to secure a standard view (if I can) for the first few days. I’ve never walked a reservation before but I think this time I will need to!
