This is the time frame we go every year. We actually don't mind it. It is hot, but we bring tons of water, bring the propel packets to add to the water (for the eletrolytes), a lot of snacks since no one is really in the mood for big meals.

We also go to the parks early, swim in the afternoon and head back to the parks around dinner time. We have really grown to like coming at this time it's our end of summer trip.

It's blasted hot but it's DISNEY! 'Nuff said.:thumbsup2

ok this may sound silly but it helped us a ton when we went in the height of the summer before. buy one of those hand held water spritzer fans and take many breaks in the shade and keep to your schedule of being back at the resort during the mid-day hours and take advantage of the EMH's. you will be so distracted with all of the disney-ness that it wont be as bad as you think. oh and make sure to really SEE it all through your kids eyes. :thumbsup2

I am there with you in a 2 bedroom at Kidani from August 29 to Sept 5. My cast of characters are Mom, Myself, Daughter (23), Son (10), Grandson (3), Sister and her GF.

Parks in the morning, Pool or Water park during the afternoon and then Parks in evening. It will be fun.

Sounds like you have the right plan to deal with the heat. We also arrive on the 27th! And frankly, the last several trips I've taken have been very hard to plan for and cope with with regard to weather - it was either crazy, unexpectedly hot for the season or windy and cold, or those overcast days where you are freezing when the sun is behind the clouds, but blazing hot when it's shining, so you spend the entire day taking a sweater off and putting it back on. When we planned August, I said "Yes, it'll be hot, but at least we'll be expecting it to be hot and it surely won't be anything BUT hot!"

We've been to WDW in August and enjoyed our trip. One piece of feadback is to make any desired ADRs because that usually is the start of free dining.:goodvibes

I'd plan for a couple of down, no park days in there as well. When my girls were little, they couldn't handle the every day running to the parks (they'd actually get tummy issues). So we got into the pattern of no more than 2 days in a row at the parks, then at least a 1/2 day off at the resort relaxing.

I think it will depend on where your from. We are used to hot, muggy, humid, Midwest Mississippi Valley summers. July/August in WDW feels comfortable to us. Feels like low humidity compared to what we are used to.

We are going on our second summer trip this year. The first was in July 2007 and it really wasn't bad at all only slightly more humid than it gets up here in NY.

This year we are going from 8/26-9/1 and heck it is summer in Disney, just stay hydrated

And if you're going to go when it's really hot, it's better to go in late August when a lot of kids are back in school and the crowds are much lighter!

I went once to WDW in September, around the 10th or 11th. I was silly to think it would be cooling off by then as it would be at home. It was like walking in hell every day.

Our rule is we don't go to Florida in May, June, July, August, September, or early October. Just too hot for us.

The DH and I are usually down there during the September time frame so we know hot weather. As others have said, your plan is a good one - especially if you stick to it - at times you'll be tempted to stay for "just one more ride" but trust me, it will be there when you get back and the crankiness caused from the oppressive heat at mid-day can get really ugly ;) One extra tip: We found that this time of year is NOT conducive to a hearty appetite. We typically have a sensible breakfast (protein and bran) in the room then we will have a couple of icy/slushie treats while at the parks. I usually don't like high calorie drinks in my diet, however, they're exactly what you need when it's SOOOO hot out (plus plenty of water of course). We found that a Dole Whip Float (or ice cream bars) plus maybe a frozen coke (or any other icy beverage) works as lunch then we end up having an early dinner when it has cooled down somewhat. Have fun and stay cool!

That's exactly the plan we use when we visit in Aug/Sept. It will be hot, bring water but hit open and spend the afternoon back at your resort. You can even go back in the evening for a little bit if you're brave. A lot of times the kids were worn out. We have DS13,DS8,DD7, and DD3. The last time we went in August our youngest was 2 and she did fine with the heat, but the time back at the resort was a great plan. We didn't rush anything either. You really can't with small children. You should have a great time. :thumbsup2
