Am I nuts? Constant checking of member site for availability.

You have to be a stalker. We used to use solely the wait list and never get anything to come through. That was primarily before online booking but somewhat after, too. The last two trips we planned last minute (usually do 11 mos. out bwv standard for our main trip but if we add a second trip its shorter and within 3-4 months of arrival) we booked at ssr when nothing was available (not even a night!) at our home and fave bwv. Both trips we pieced together literally a night or two at a time to stay the entire time at bwv. Sometimes changing views mid-trip but at least we're there. Otherwise we'd still be sitting on the wait list with absolutely nothing to show for it. So I say, stalk away!

Update time again! I had Nov 28 waitlisted for a standard & lake view studio at VGF. Yesterday, the standard view studio came through (yay!!!!), but in the process they cancelled my lake view waitlist, which I did not want. I sent them an email last night and will be calling them this morning.

I just got off the phone with MS, apparently what happened is how it is supposed to work. I also went through and tried to make another waitlist and noticed the note below in the T&Cs.

If your waitlist request is confirmed, all other waitlist requests for comparable dates will be cancelled.

That would really suck for someone who needs two rooms and had two waitlists! I guess I am back to to the bottom of the pile. That being said, I am still super happy about getting a whole week at VGF, even if I do have to change rooms for the last night! And who knows, maybe I will get lucky and the new waitlist will come through!

:tinker: Someone must have dumped some serious Pixie Dust over at MS today. I just got a response to the email I sent last night: We appreciate your interest in your upcoming stay and will be happy to assist you further. Our records show that your waitlist for a Deluxe Studio Lake View has been matched for the night of November 28. We have canceled your Standard View and added the additional night to the existing reservation. Your Travel Plan Confirmation Number is XXXXXXXXX. Sure enough, I went onto the DVC site to check my reservations and, there it was - I have a Lake View Studio booked from Nov 22-29!! I am so excited!!! :yay::yay::yay:

Does anyone else do this? I feel like it is going to drive me bananas but I cant make myself stop :rotfl: I always seem to fill my waitlist before MS does.

We are going to WDW Nov 22-29 for Thanksgiving. We booked at SSR at 11 months and now I am piecing together a split stay at VWL and BCV. As of today I have VWL for the 22-26 and BCV from the 27-29. I have the 26th waitlisted at both resorts. I check the member site several times an hour and have been doing so since the 7 month window opened. Am I crazy?

The best/worst part is that every other day I do seem to get part of what I need (as an example. yesterday I was able to get the 2 nights at BCV :cool1:), validating my compulsive checking, so I am continuing to do it.

I am just wondering if I am the only obsessive compulsive owner that does this or are most of you more laid back?

Thanks :)
Jess

You're not nuts at all. We just planned a last minute weekend trip in mid-December, since our daughter will be in the Candlelight Processional and we want to see her. Besides we hadn't been down there during the holiday season in 14 years. Not a room to be had, so I waitlisted SSR and OKW, while booking an AP rate at All Star Sports in the meantime. So since I could only waitlist two selections, I keep checking all the other resorts for availability.

We have a SSR studio for dec 12-16 but I still keep looking everyday for a 1 bdrom to show up,anywhere.

I check all the time! I also wait list- just in case. For our January trip I stalked until I could add the Friday night that we decided to add in at 5 months and I got it after a few days. Then last week we decided to book a cruise pre wdw and then decided that if we arrived 2 days before the cruise we could see wdw with the Christmas decorations up ... Only problem is that there wasn't much available for jan 2-4 :( so j aakisyed and stalked and got akv kidani after 2 days but we are staying there after the cruise and wanted to try somewhere else...so I kept stalking and snagged BLT lake view for the 3rd only after another 2 days of trying. I wait listed the 2nd and kept stalking... Much to my surprise the next day my waitlist came through! You just never know :D

Hey, if it does, can we have your studio? :rotfl2:

Obsessive checking is definitely what I have been doing! I'm playing with a reservation for January 7-12. We have the 12-17 booked at GFV. I'm happy with that reservation, but the first 5 nights have yet to come up with something I like. DH doesn't care as long as we have a room. I haven't seen much movement on those nights though. Occasionally something good pops up for the 7 but that's about it. Holding out hope since we still have about 4 months.

My compulsive checking has gotten me a club level room at AKL within 10 days of check in. I got A value one bedroom for 3 nights at AKL today after checking everyday for the last 2 weeks. My trip is in January and I am optimistic about getting exactly what I want by then.

I'm hesitant to book a night here or there. I'm really hoping to get a 3 or 4 night chunk. Is this not a good strategy? Do I need to settle for a night or two and piece things together?

Taking a night or two here and there is probably the best way . . . but it certainly takes nerves of steel to do it. :thumbsup2

And it helps if you have extra points to play with. That way you can book at whatever resort is available (if there is one) and keep that reservation until you can piece together what you want before cancelling.

Opinion needed. My situation as I previously stated is that I need to find a room for 12/11 - 12//14. Any availability I've seen are for a day here or there for one bedroom Villas. I have waitlisted for studios in OKW and SSR. Points not being an issue, do I have better luck changing those waitlists to one bedrooms?
