As a non AP pass holder, but considering purchasing one-

How often are there discounts on rooms?
Do discounts run year long (with the exception of Easter, main holidays?)
How are offers notified?
Do you receive emails on deals?
I noticed a pp said they looked during their coffee break..

Aside from room deals-
Are food discounts guaranteed?

And parking is free-correct?

We just got back from our first stay at Yacht Club. The refurbed rooms are amazing. The details and quality of the room are really beyond expectations. The location is excellent. The pool is great for kids. But I would not stay there again. I can count on one hand the number of cast members that even made eye contact with me, much the less said anything. The atmosphere there is pretty stuffy compared to other resorts. I got locked on my balcony for an hour. Our room was not ready till 4:30. They said we did not put in a room request and we did (saw it on the online check in page.) It really was not a magical stay at all especially compared to the VERy magical stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge the week before.

The AP discount seemed to have more weekend exclusions based on my random sampling. Also availability is obviously the tricky part with both offerings.

It's always interesting to me to see where Disney feels compelled to offer discounts to fill rooms during certain times of year.

Remember when AP rates were 45% !! Got to watch those weekend exclusions. I once booked a deluxe with B.B. offer. Awhile later the AP discount came out with a tad higher % so I phoned to see and was surprised it was a lot more expensive total than the lower % discount. It was because of the weekend exclusion, AP discount was only week days, weekends you paid rack rate BB offer was for entire stay.
