Hi everyone, I am soooo excited it is unbelievable but there is a slight niggle at the back of my mind that needs putting to rest.

We fly 1/6 from Gatwick with virgin (do not know if that is important but like seeing it!) I have just booked The crystal palace for breakfast with pooh etc for 8 am on 2/6.

Do you think this is too much straight away. I have DS4 and DD1 and we are staying at POP Century. My basic confusing logic is that if it is 8 am there it'll be about 1 pm at home and we still wont be proplerly on US time yet. (i think i am grasping at straws here!) And on our first day i would really like to see Cinderella castle with no people in view of it.

Having never done a character breakfast before i just wonder what it will be like and if it will be too much if you know what i mean.

Sorry if this is really confusing but my brain is fried at the moment with all this planning.
Thanks
Lisa

Hello,

It is our first time to disney, and we have done the same as you.

Everyone says they are up bright and early (america time) on the first day so have booked I think for the same time as you, on the night after we arrive :goodvibes

Hi we did the same thing for our last trip and it was a fantastic way to start the holiday and get into the disney spirit!

You will probably find that you will get up early with time difference anyway :)

You will certainly be up in plenty of time - it is your best chance to be early on you first morning! I am a huge fan of character meals and I hope you really love it. My DD hates breakfast out, but we do every other character meal we can think of - they are the highlight of our trip!! Enjoy it.

Just a thought, Do your children have experience with characters? Im just thinking its our sons first visit...hes 2 and a half and I felt he needed time seeing them at a distance before getting close up and personal or he would be scared!
I think you will be up at the crack of dawn anyway and its a good use of your time but I would end up rushing through to just get into MK before the crouds... I would do it on a subsequent day but hey any day is great to have breakfast with Pooh! enjoy!!!

We've done this several times. IMHO the best plan. You'll be up early anyway. You can see the castle and get some great pictures as the park will be opening and the only guests there will be going to breakfast too. Crystal palace is our fave breakfast too. :thumbsup2

thank you for putting my mind at rest. I am sooooooooo excited. I think i remember being up about 5 am the last time we were in florida but that might have been down to the tornado warnings that were going on outside.

Out of interest how long will a character breakfast take? Just wondering if we will be sorted by rope drop which is at 9 am so we can head straight to dumbo.

It takes as long as you want really. If you want to be sure to see all the characters I would say an hour. If you want to leave before that it will be fine - the servers are never slow with bringing the bill.

You will wake up stupidly early because you will think it's late morning/midday UK time. It's the evenings when jet lag will get you - round about 7pm you'll suddenly be exhausted.

You will also be STARVING at 8am the next day because you'll think it's lunchtime :rotfl:

so we will def get our moneys worth then LOL! My children have had some experience of charachter as we were lucky enough to go when he was 22 months old and we have been to DLP a few times so they have seen them but a good point i hadn't thought of that. I think they will be ok. DD may be a little wary as she has only seen them from the buggy before but if she acts up DH will have to take her outside (i'm not leaving! ha ha ha)

Thats PERFECT!!!!! we did this and it was brilliant !!!

Be sure to get a photopass picture as soon as you enter the park, and take lots of Main Street uncrowded!!!

CP is fab for small kids,I would allow an hour for breakfast... remember to take autograph books, and pen... and LOTS of SD card space for all the pictures.

We do this and a few rides eetc, till 3pm parade, watch the parade and then leave. Perfect first day for us! Bet you will all be up and awake at 6am, so might as well take advantage :thumbsup2

You will also be STARVING at 8am the next day because you'll think it's lunchtime :rotfl:

Oh yes!!! It is crazy but so true! :rotfl2: Another reason why having a good breakfast at 8 am is a good idea. Doing the early breakfast is better than trying to do a dinner on the first day IMO.

We did this for our last trip. A Its a great idea as you'll all be up super early! It was a little strange walking down main street at 8am as it was empty!

Like most other people have said, this is probably the best time to go. Towards the end of your stay, if you have "overdone" the parks, getting up early for an ADR may not be so easy.

It hardly needs saying after the previous comments but yes great idea, you will be up early and buzzing and what a great way to start a holiday.

We also did this on our last trip, and it worked out well apart from the fact that dd4 screamed whenever a character came close to her.

When my neph was younger he used to be up at 05.30 in the morning on our first day so we used to always book a really early breakfast. My nephs are now 17 and 18 and last year we still booked breakfast at Crystal Palace for 8am. We are all ravenous by then and the breakfast there is just soooo American and lovely.

Have fun

Tina

Best day to do a character breakfast in my experience. We are always up early and ready to go

I have a picture of my 11 month old eating his breakfast at 3.30 am American time :scared1: By the time he was ready for a nap the rest of the family was up so that was a very very very long day for me as we just headed off to the parks.

But I agree with everyone else it is a great idea. And we loved having reservation at CP at 8.00 because we were in the park first practically and it was lovely walking down main street snapping pics of hardly a person in front of the castle.
