Am I just ignorant? What is the concierage service?

Hi There,

As far as I know, the concierge service makes all advanced dining reservations for you and offer hors d'euvers throughout the day.

We were clueless as well about concierge until we got a free upgrade in Feb 04. We were staying at the Boardwalk and when we checked in they told we got a free upgrade to concierge. I guess I had a confused looked on my face when the CM said I would not want to pass that up. The CM was right we really enjoyed the service.

The amenities will vary some between different resorts. We received a deluxe room which was like having 2 rooms in one and a nice view of the lake. Lounge privileges which had continetal breakfast in the morning, snacks during the day, wine and cheese in the evening, and chocolates and cordials at night. It save us a lot of money in breakfast and drinks. The CM's that attend to the lounge are very helpful. I just mentioned to my DW we needed to make reservations for Hoop Dee Doo. The CM overheard and offered to help me. We sat down at the desk, and in a few minutes, we had the reservations and and tickets in my hand.

I am not sure if conierge is worth the extra dollars, but it is defintely a pleasant experience.

The Concierge service at your moderate and value resorts at WDW are basically a new name for Guest Services. They make dining accomodations, etc. At the Deluxe resorts, they are the same as they have always been, and you must be staying in the Concierge level to take advantage of those amenities.

Actually, I believe that all the resorts (including deluxe) have what's referred to as "Lobby Concierge" now. It did indeed replace guest services and any resort guest can take advantage of it. They will assist you with tickets, dining reservations, etc. after you've arrived on site. Staying club level (concierge) at the deluxe resorts gives you access to an itinerary planning office that takes care of all your requests in advance (in addition to some other on site amenities like private check-in, private floors, lounges with food/drinks, in room package delivery, assistance with special occassions, etc).

I was wondering what conceirge was too, but I know it has to be more than just guest service because I have had someone at the front desk ask me at check in if I needed to make any PS because she could help me. I wouldnt pay for that and while it would be a nice upgrade the free continental breakfast and occasional drink I would not pay for it, I make all my PS before even leaving for my trips..

It is french for "Let me overpay for a a continental breakfast and a few snacks with a group of other people that are also willing to overpay." Save your money. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the help!! Looks like maybe its great if you get the free upgrade only. I think I saw somewhere that it lets you get a special saffari ride if you stay in AKL. Is that true?? :flower:

Guests of the AKL concierge level have the added benefit of booking two exclusive safari's. One is the sunrise safari with breakfast at the Tusker House, the other is a sunset safari with a private dinner at Jiko's. All concierge guests have the ability to reserve a special safari called the Wildlife Discovery. It's a trip through the Kilimanjaro on specially designed vehicles. There is a naturalist on board to answer questions and you have the opportunity to stop and take pictures.

Concierge is really just a higher level of service (and it's much more than a continental breakfast and a few snacks), many amenities you can't put a value or price on. Some guests don't bat an eyelash at paying the additional cost, while others would only take the upgrade if it were free. It's all a matter of personal choice.

Tammi
