Anyone else going on the Magic this week for a 7 night cruise? There must be lots of you because I had very difficult time getting the cabins I really wanted---and didn't get :sad2:

Sailing with dh, ds 11, ds 8 and dd 5.

So, is anyone out there with me??????

Hey Icborn2run,

I thought we were the only ones booked this far in advance!!!
Sailing with: dh, dh's mother, dd 13, dd 11 and dd 6.
We can not wait!!!!

We are really excited too. Did you have a difficult time booking cabins/categories of your choice?

We ended up in a Cat 8 as the 9 I originally had seemed to have several reports of being very noisy and feeling vibrations of the engines.

My kids are so psyched. I already bought the passporter book and I really like it. Have you sailed Disney before? My only cruise was with my dh about 12 years ago (b.c.--before children) :)

We can obsess together for the next year!

This will be our third cruise with Disney. We booked while on the ship last summer and then had to reschedule for a later date but did not have trouble at the time of booking. Our family loves the disney ship! We talk about it all the time. We are walking billboards for them!
Who did you cruise with before?
Look forward to your reply!

We sailed with Norwegian. It was nice, but as we only sailed as a couple, it was a bit boring. Lots of older people.

I hope my kids love the clubs. From reading the info, it seems they will all be seperate from each other.

One thing I didn't like about the last cruise was having to sit with other people all the time. I am very social, but in the morning, I don't need those "so where are you from" conversations over and over! I requested a table for just the 5 of us on this cruise. I know we won't "be ourselves" if dining with others; I look forward to that time with the kids as hopefully they'll be enjoying the kids clubs throughout the day!

We chose late seating as I figured they'd be more awake for the early shows and if not feeling like a formal dinner, can grab chicken fingers/pizza or eat with the kids club. I'm thinking they'll enjoy the shows more than a bunch of formal dinners. As a Disney Cruise pro, what do you think of that theory?

Where are you on the ship? We're on Deck 7 toward the front. Not my favored site, but as I said, connecting cabins seemed hard to come by on this sailing.

Lastly, do you guys arrive the day before and stay in a hotel? Seems like the way to go as you can get to the ship nice and early that first day.

"Speak" to you soon!

Lisa

Lisa,
You are your kids are going to love this cruise. I will tell you that in my family the only nights we saw are kids for dinner was on formal nights (because they wanted to get fancy). For breakfast we only saw them on the morning of the character breakfast. The girls were out doing there own thing at the clubs. Even our five year old did not want to leave the club! If your kids are like ours you may find that you and your dh are the only ones at your table.
We too, have always had the late seating. It just seems easier to enjoy the day with out having to rush to get ready for dinner. Overall it has worked best for us. In regards to breakfast, we like to order room service. We place the order on the door the night before and they delivered it between 30 minutes of the time you request. I think this is my favorite thing to do! Breakfast in bed!!!
We have done both come in the day of and the night before. We prefer to come in the night before.
We are on deck 4. One final thing, the chicken fingers are the best we have ever had!!!!

but a bit nervous as I graduate Nursing School in January and will be starting work probably in March. Don't know how they'll feel about me taking an August vacation. I'm praying I don't have to use the trip insurance and cancel :earseek:

Where do you stay when you come in the night before? By the way, where are you from? We're from New York. I'm really hoping that all the kids enjoy the kids club. My daughter-the youngest-is 4 now, and she can be a TERROR! As you have daughters, you are probably familiar with the hissy fits and theatrics that occur all day. I hope it's a phase...if not, she better love that kids club because I'll be over the edge at that point ;)

Sitting at a table alone with my husband doesn't sound half bad! Do you guys do the Palo dinner or brunch? Seems to be a popular favorite witht the "regular" cruisers.

Well, it seems we'll have the ship to ourselves at this point! Or at least we'll be the only Dis'ers on board!

Have a good night.....

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
We are in Mass. We stay at the Marriott in Orlando and drive to the cape in the morning. Priceline has proven to be a valuable tool when needing to book a hotel.
We did Palo's once......it was good but we did not like it that much more to book again. Although, when we did eat there we had dinner. It is very beautiful and most important it was quiet!! It sounds like this would be something you and your husband would enjoy!
Last summer (then 4) our daughter did not want to leave the club! Many nights we had to coax her to come with us. I hope that your 4 y/o likes it as much!
It is interesting that nobody has responded to this thread. Perhaps as it gets closer we will see more activity. Because we KNOW there are others on this cruise! Our friends (from MN) just booked for the same cruise. I will have to tell them about this website!
Have a great day!
Maria

That's great about your friends booking. Do they have kids the same ages as yours?

OK, so I have to ask the dreaded question.....are you Patriots or Red Sox fans? :cheer2: I don't care about baseball, but the boys are big Yankee fans. As a family, we all love the JETS...always look forward to those Patriot games each season!

Did you ever do any of the excursions on the islands? I read up a bit on them and I even toyed with the idea of staying on the boat for the most part and enjoying the emptiness of the pool areas! I figure the kids could go on the beach at Castaway Cay. The stingray thing sounds good, but I doubt my kids would go for it. What have you done on port days? I have already been to Grand Cayman and Cozumel, and I doubt my kids would care if they saw them. What do you think?

Time to get the kids ready for bed  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Lisa

Lisa,
Sorry about the delay, we have been on vacation and am just now getting to all this stuff.
First the important stuff...........although we like the Patriots we are Green Bay fans......go cheese heads! Same with the red sox.....we are Orioles fans. See, although we live up here now we are transplants and we won't be here but for a couple years....
We have done excursions in the past. The one we took in St Thomas was awesome. I understand that Cozumel has the best snorkeling anywhere! I have a friend who is going in February. I will get her feedback then and let you know for sure. The boat is much less hectic on port days this is true. We do like to get off the boat and look around even if it's for a short bit. Truth be told, I love to see what is available for shopping. Hate to miss a bargain!!!
Hope you are doing well,
Maria
