Am I insane?

It is not the easiest thing to deal with. My family has been really supportive DF's family is getting better. But the one thing that everyone has to realize is that you are not backing down.

When me and DF decided to get "hitched" at WDW everyone had there two cents to say. So every time they had something negative to say we had a positive solution to fix it. Also we decided to have it live webcasted so that if someone had a problem they could watch it from the comfort of their own computer... lol!

Just remember it is your (and your DF's... lol) day. Don't let anyone take that away from you!

having an escape wedding is ensuring that it stays small, thank god!

That is one of the main reasons we are having an escape wedding (money the other :lmao: ) but even with the 18 limit random family friends having been trying to invite themselves!

We had this problem with DF's mom as well...she started telling all these people and they all wanted to come party with us even though they couldn't be at the ceremony...the thing is, my mom (and us) can't afford a reception for that many people and we basically had to go back and tell her she would have to un-invite people....it was a bit awkward, but it's not like they have offered to pay for anything in regards to the wedding (which would bother me more if they weren't paying for our lawyer fees for a totally separate thing) (approx. $4000!) Besides, who knows? Maybe they'll offer something afterwards or there or something....I've heard some groom's parents do that and besides being from another country (Ireland) I'm not sure what is custom over there for the groom's family to pay for (if anything)....

Even for our at-home reception, I didn't want people there who we really didn't know etc....so instead of being like 125 people or something, we're inviting about 70 and hoping for 55-60...

Anyway as everyone has said here so far...it's your day!!! You have the wedding that you want and will feel comfortable with no matter the number of guests etc..:goodvibes

I think I had everything picked out for my Escape Wedding before I even signed my contract-LOL. So I know that an Escape wedding can be done quickly

As for your SIL- I wouldnt let it bother you. (try not to get sucked in) but there will be people who think that any destination wedding (despite how much notice you have) is selfish.

Update: Disney called! Both dates we wanted in May are open in our Top location choice SBP!!!! I can’t believe I got so lucky!:lmao: Now I have to frantically call guests (the few that we have) and find out which of the two dates works best Assuming the dates work for everyone, then I’ll have to get my butt in gear! Since I would have less than two months to throw this thing together!:scared1: Oh dear what am I thinking? Thank you so much for all your support!

Oh PS: we are trying to decide where to stay during the wedding/honeymoon; WL, POFQ or the Contemporary, thoughts?

Yeah - so great to hear this. Let us know the outcome.

As far as resorts go we have stayed at both WL and POFQ and love both of them. All our guests for our wedding stayed at POFQ and they all had wonderful things to say about it. The WL is also wonderful. The views are beautiful - the pool is great - the lobby is so large but the resort is not too large - this is what we liked about it. You are staying in the main building and the balconys are great for sitting out on.

Linda
