I have Ohana ressie at 5pm and Pirates and Pals at 6:45 (they would like us to show up at 6:30). Am I in trouble regarding time? How much time shoudl I allow for monorail service from Poly to Contemp?

Given that you have an early ressie - you shouldn't have a problem getting in --maybe you should try to arrive at Ohana a little early. You will be rushing dinner a little - but it can be done!!

Keep in mind also that Ohana is generally very busy. We have been hit or miss with getting seated at our ADR time. You might be seated later than 5:00 and even then since dinner is in courses you might be pushing it. They have activities etc for the children and if your children want to join in, it could be a time issue for you.
Can you reschedule your dinner for a different night? It certainly would be less stressful for you.

I tend to agree with the last post. 'Ohana tends to run slow; I've had to wait as long as a half hour or so beyond the ADR time to get seated.

But, in your favor, you have a 5:00 ADR. That early, I would think they wouldn't be behind as much. Since they don't open until 4:00 (I think), chances are you'll be going to a table that won't have had anyone prior, since I'm sure the average 'Ohana meal runs longer than an hour. If thats the case, I'd show up early...maybe 4:30 or so and maybe you'll be seated early.

If you get dinner finished by 6, you 'might' be okay, but it's going to be close. If the monorail is just leaving the platform when you arrive, you may have to wait about 10+ mins for the next one to come along. You could use the boat..it goes directly to the MK from the Polynesian, but you won't know if it's just left or is just arriving until you get there.
Once on the monorail it will take you about 10 mins, perhaps 15, to get to the MK. Then you have to go through bag check, the turnstiles, then walk to your final destination..that alone will take about 10 mins.
As you can see, it all has to line up perfectly for you to make it there by 6:30. You can try arriving at 'Ohana early but if you arrive too early, they will tell you to come back...they seem to have adopted the policy of arriving no more than 15 mins before your ADR time.

Don't forget there are the odd times when the Monorail needs to stop on the track if there is another Monorail in front at the station it's going to. Now when that has happened to me while I was on one it was no more then a 30 second dealy, although sometimes it could be longer.

I have been on the monorail many times when it has come to a stop on the tracks...for whatever reasons. Sometimes it's just that they have to wait for the car in front of them to move...sometimes there is a track issue.
That was pretty much my point...you just can't count on any type of WDW transportation being 'on-time'...you may find that it varies by up to 30 mins or so...which can lead to a disruption in your plans.

Your problem might be in getting through dinner. With the fixed menu at 'Ohana, the food just comes in course after course, and it took our family more than two hours to get from salad to dessert. There's not much you can do to hurry the pace, since your server will bring the food in a set pattern.

Also, the monorail to the Contemporary from Poly will have two stops on the way, and at dinner time there could be quite a crowd waiting to get on.

I think you'd be better off rescheduling one of your plans.

We were there for a little over 2 hours as well.
