Sitting here w/UG in one hand Dis on the other! Looking to find a quiet, river view room @ POR for 1 & 2 Dec '05. Pools & food courts not a plus for us, view is. I would like a rm handy to a bus stop, as I have foot problems--especially after a day at the parks :sunny: Although, in between love a lazy stroll-
I think I have a handle on the non-snoking rooms & I've narrowed it down to Magnolia Mansions, crossed out Parterre Place>too close to main building, last to be picked up on bus route--am I headed in the right direction here?
I do appreciate any advice here & thanks in advance!

You are definately on the right track. However, if you'd like the same beautiful views with less walking, perhaps consider POFQ. POR is my absolute favorite, but you will be drawn to walking because of the landscaping. You can still get the view, major ambiance and relaxation at the French Quarter. With either Port Orleans resort you choose, you win!

Parterre Place is a nice location, you can walk to the main building for the bus stop instead of walking over to the East Depot. Also there is a quiet pool between Parterre Place and Oak Manor. I stayed in Oak Manor in 2003 and really liked the location. It was just a short walk to the main building and not too far from the main pool. I had a court yard view, and it was very peaceful.

In 2004 we stayed at the POFQ twice and really enjoyed our stay there. I chose the POFQ over the POR due to the fact that the buses stop at POFQ first, when I went in 2003, POFQ was closed so transportation between the 2 resorts was not an issue.
Keep in mind that when you pay for a water view you do not have a balcony like you do in the deluxes, so you do not have a view from your room per se. For us it was not worth the extra money. With the POFQ being so small the bus stop was not far from any building.

Sounds to me like you're heading in the right direction as well. I think Magnolia is the most convenient as far as access to the main pool, the main building, and one of the bus stops (North depot directly behind). I'm another that doesn't think there's much as far as paying extra for a view, as your view no matter where you are is a window to your outdoor corridor. I just always ask for a room facing away from the parking lot, and have never had a problem. If the rooms had balconies, then I would pay the extra. A riverview at least would give you a better idea of where you would be in the building, as each mansion is quite huge, but it would mean you are further from the bus stop.

Thanks for all the great info! I will definitely ask for a 'no parking lot view" :flower: This is what we do @ CBR & it has worked there, also.
Is there a particular room # that is anyone's favorite & why?
Thanks again!

Magnolia Terrace, building 85 is a great location and you can request a water view room. The view is peaceful and beautiful. You are also right in front of a bus stop. :flower:

We just returned from POR 5 weeks ago. I made a request for AB bldg 27 river-view 2nd fl. king bed. I did not get one request I asked for, and I'm so glad I didn't !!! :) We ended up in AB bldg. 35 with a pool view on the 1st floor. LOVED IT!!! I didn't think I'd want a pool-view but it turns out that I could look out my window to see if there were any chairs available or if it were too crowded so I knew what to plan at that time, so that worked out great. I thought it might be noisy on the 1st floor with pitter-patter from above so I requested 2nd fl. Got 1st floor and would swear those rooms are sound-proof! :) Didn't hear a peep! As we walked by bldg. 27 every day I was so glad we weren't in that bldg with a river view. It's a busy path and was not quite as cozy and tucked away as bldg. 35. We got dbl beds and with this being just my DH and I, I wanted a king bed. Well, turns out we each slept in our own bed and I got the best sleep ever ! I had a bed all to myself, noone to steal the covers or sleep on top of me giving me back aches :teeth: In fact my DH commented that maybe we should cut our king bed in 1/2 when we get home :rotfl: !!!
We just loved our stay here. In fact we're heading back in Dec...can't wait! I am going to request AB bldg 26. It was so cozy looking. It's tucked away in between bldgs no parking lot views to be had, no pool views unless from one side you might be able to see over to one of the quiet pools in I think bldg 24. In any case, it's off the main river path and very quiet and serine. It may be a bit of a walk to the bus but not too bad. It would be nearest the 2nd bus stop I believe. You can check out a resort map here. http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/pomap1.jpg
I really like the coziness of the AB section, however you may prefer the Mansions. Whichever you choose your going to love it! We got some really great pics of the resort and lots of them. We need to find a spot to post them. Good luck in planning and have a great time!! :wave2:

Wow! I knew I would get great info here! :sunny: I am interested in the Mansions but now just may go for AB, it sounds super!

Thanks everyone!
