Am I going to have MagicBand problems with multi-reservations?

HI
I currently have 3 separate reservations for our family trip. Am I going to have issues with my MagicBands? When I log into my Disney account to view my reservations, I have 3 separate MagicBands orders to customize. Will they not be able to combine my 3 reservations on 1 MagicBand?
Here is a breakdown of my reservations;
Booked through Disney - Oct 24, 1 night Art of Animation with 9 day theme park tickets
Rental booked through DVC member - Oct 25, 7 nights BLT Lake View studio
Rental booked through DVC member - Nov 1, 2 nights BLT standard studio
I'm on a waitlist for my DVC rental to get the last 2 nights in the lake view, so hopefully that will come through and I'll only have 2 reservations. I'm also going to be adding a dining plan to my DVC rentals reservations.

Has anyone had problems getting their reservations sorted to 1 booking on their bands? I really don't want to waste valuable vacation time when I'm there getting my MagicBands to work properly.

I can also cancel my theme park tickets on my first day and order the tickets separately so I can add the 9 day tickets to my DVC rentals. That way I won't need a Magic Band on my first night. We won't be going to any park on our first day, as we arrive late. I booked it this way so I only have to pay the balance for the tickets in September. If I order the tickets without a reservation, I have to order and pay in full before April 28, so I can book my ADR's at the 180 day mark. Financially it is better for me to pay this off in September, so I prefer not to.
Should I call Disney reservations ahead of time to get my reservations sorted? If so, what department do I call? Thanks!

A magicband links to your account. They'll mail you one by default for each reservation you have, but any band you have will be able to work across your whole trip. I'm not sure if they have to manually set the band to be your room key when you resort hop or if it'll happen automagically, but it will certainly work.

You can tell them to not mail you extra bands.

Hi,
Try this #: (407) 939-4357. It's from the official Disney World phone directory:)

Thanks. I'm going to call. I've read on here before that some people have had issues. Not sure if this was when MagicBands were first introduced and they've now worked out the kinks.

There is a box to check before you customize the bands where you can opt out of getting them. So if you don't want all of them, you don't have to get them and can use previous bands.

we just came back from a split stay - 3 resorts over 8 nights (none of it was DVC). I 'ordered' one set of Magic Bands and refused the other 2. We did not have any problems using just the one set of bands. It was all linked in MDE and I never gave it a second thought.

you should NOT have issues. Your reservations are not ON the bands - all the bands are linked to your account and should be able to read what is on your account. There is no need to get the reservations "sorted." Any band assigned to you should work regarding ALL of your reservations/tickets (Yes sometimes there are problems). And you now have the option to decline some or all of those bands, so you do not have to accept a set of bands with each reservation unless you want them. If all you did was accept the bands on the Art of Animation reservation and decline all the rest, that set of bands SHOULD work for you the entire time.

You can call but you'r wasting your time. It's not needed at all.

As said, MB are 100% passive. They don't have a memory card or hold data of any sort. They have a serial number and that serial number is stored on your MDE account. When the band is scanned the serial number pulls up your MDE account and reads ALL the data there. ADR, Tickets, Resorts, etc. Every MB you own works the same exact way.

And just a quick stop at the front desk of each resort will confirm the bands work to open your door at each resort.

Evidently each resort has it's own data base of guest's magic bands. Ideally all MB associated to a given guest will work at that resort. But sometimes, they aren't quite all linking right. Stop at the front desk, give them the band you intend to use that trip and they will check the serial number is on their data base. And add it if it's missing.

Some of us like to color coordinate our bands so we have 1 of each color (or more) and they'll all work.

My family only travels with multiple reservations and I get the extra bands and coordinate them with my clothes. I was warned by one staff member this past trip that my extra bands might not work as room keys, but she was totally wrong. For the past three winter trips, all three bands worked perfectly at all resorts and parks. I think the system has improved immensely.

Glitches can happen so I can't say it absolutely will be smooth sailing, but there's nothing inherent in multiple reservations that means there absolutely will be problems.

I wouldn't waste time by calling (there is nothing they can do), I wouldn't worry. I would leave the tickets the same if that works for you. There's no issue here.

If s glitch pops up, deal with it. But don't worry about potential future glitches. The nature of a glitch is that it can't be anticipated or fixed until it happens.

It should not be a problem, but as stated previously, the most important step is that you have the Front Desk CM at each resort verify your MB when you check-in to each resort.. Also a helpful tip when you are transferring between resorts, you can ask the Bell Services desk to transfer your bags to your next resort..

The last 3 times we have stayed at BLT, they checked our magic bands at check-in to make sure they were properly linked to our resort reservation.

You do not have to get 3 sets of magic bands. Get one set and decline the rest on MDE.

You probably won't have any problems, but the system is still "glitchy". We still have problems most every stay, and we visit multiple times per year. Most all of the problems have been easy fixes, but we just roll with the punches, and don't let the problems ruin our stay.

If you do have problems, the front desk at BLT can fix it for you.

Thanks everyone for the info and tips! :thanks:
I like the idea of color coordinating my bands with my outfits!

We're doing a split stay as well, I assumed we'd only be able to use one band for each of us. So we can accept all the bands and change them out daily? Will each band need to be set up at each resort? We've only been once since magic bands were introduced, and we stayed off site, so we have not experience using them fully. TIA

1. Yep.

2. No. Each band accesses all the information in your MDE account.
