Hi everyone,

I've been lurking way too long and decided to come out from the dark side! ;)

I'm a single mom bringing the kids to DisneyWorld in less than two months. My daughter will turn 12 yo on the site and I have a 10 yo son. This is a dream trip that I never thought would happen. The recent PIN offer for free quick meal plans gave me the push to book. Then all the stars aligned to make this happen, my work vacation dates were accepted, unexpected money came in and it looked like the magic of Disney was already in action. lol!

We are from Montreal, Canada and this will be our first big trip, my son's 1st plane ride. I am freaking out just a bit... to say the least. How will I survive the craziness of Disney on my own? LOL! The kids have so much energy, I'm going to be the mom running behind them trying to catch up. :rotfl2: :)

That's pertty much it, I am looking forward to being a part of the DIS board.

Hi, YOU are not CRAZY at all!! You will have a BLAST!! And do not be surprised if your kids have to keep up with you :). Something about the AIR at Disney always gets me up and going early(also that phone call from MICKEY!!) and keeps me going till late at nite. Have a MAGICAL vacation. :goodvibes Joan

Hi!!! Welcome!!!

I am also a single mother and I have 2 children as well. The first time I went to Disney World with only me and my kids, my youngest was 2yrs old and my oldest was 6yrs old. Though there were small things that I was worried about when we were there, it really was not wild and crazy and I never felt overwhelmed at all! My biggest concerns are always bathroom breaks because I have boys. I admit I have a bit of anxiety splitting up with them for us to go to to the bathroom but we pick a spot that everyone comes back to when we get done with our business.

Parades and fireworks shows, etc where the crowds gather are another concern but just like any parent, you keep an eye (and a hand or arm...maybe a foot) on where your kids are at all times!

If you have a cell phone that you will be taking to the parks, make sure your kids know the number or get some of the temporary tattoos or bands that you can use that have your number on them for the kids to wear incase they were to get separated from you. Some people write the info on their kids somewhere inconspicuous with a Sharpie. Make yourself and your kids familiar with the CM name tags and make sure your kids know to seek out a CM immediately if they were to get separated from you.

I think you will find the anxiety of being the lone adult will melt away and you will love seeing the reactions of your kids when they enter the parks! Be prepared, but I think you will all have a great time!!

Welcome! No you are not crazy!!! You are going to make some wonderful, magical memories with your children. How nice that everything has come together for you. Being a first time visitor try not to get overwhelmed. Disney is huge and there is lots to see and do. I would suggest doing some research ahead of time and try to come up with some sort of agenda or touring plan. Try to get to the parks when they open so you can get on some things without having to wait long. Most importantly, enjoy and relax! Have a blast! I hope you have the best time of your life. (be prepared to fall in love and want to go back).

Thanks for the welcome, I've calmed down a bit since my post! ;)

Yesterday there was an information session at the travel agency I've booked with. After 3 hours of learning about Disney, I am starting to see that this will be a great trip no matter what. I just need to stop fussing about everything, not get hung up on making it all perfect. It's Disney, magic is going to happen and there's always the pool to bring a smile to my kids face. Oh... and to give me a little break. LOL!

I mean, come on, WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY!!! That's pretty cool in itself. :cheer2:

You're not crazy, and I am super excited that you're going.

Take the kids early to the parks, rest in the afternoon, then be at the parks for fireworks, etc.

Enjoy your vacation, it's the best place in the world!!!!!!

You are not crazy at all! You and your kids are going to have a great time!

Thank you so much for reassuring me, I am slowly getting that I can do this... I think! :rotfl2:

Let's not talk about last night's nightmare, when I dreamt that I forgot my son at Disney... I woke up feeling SO bad. :scared1:

I am starting to worry about small things though, like letting my son go to the washroom on his own. He barely speaks english (I keep teaching him to say I am lost, I speak French!) LOL!

Just relax, take time to enjoy your trip and panic that you won't see enerything because you won't. It is just a fact that there is so much to see you couldn't possibly see everything, but you can always use that as an excuse to return, not that you need one. :rotfl2: My only suggestion would be to discuss with your kids what rides they really want to ride and go there first.

You're going to DISNEY!! The best place on earth!

Oh wow. I hope you have wonderful time. I bet your kids are so excited about the trip coming up so soon. Don't fret about the small things. Just make sure you and the kids have wonderful memories!:goodvibes
