Am I crazy to consider doing a trip down for the Villains Unleashed event? I just got back from a trip with my niece (paid for by me). I've priced it out staying at Pop (which I don't usually do) instead of moderate or DVC rental. I think I can do the trip with a friend for around $700 for 4 nights. I just don't know if I should. My brain keeps going back and forth - just go. You'll find the money. And then - seriously, you just spent $3000 on a trip for your niece. Christmas is coming up and you are trying to get out of credit card debt. So, am I crazy or is it YOLO?

Yes. You need to get out debt first, and cc debt is the worst. You should concentrate on that. WDW is not going anywhere, and whatever interest you are paying is reducing your disposable income.

True. And I had already come to my senses by the time I got home. I just get so wrapped up in the moment when Im looking at the possibilities.

You just got back. You're probably feeling the effects of snorting too much pixie dust right now. It's natural to want to go back as quickly as possible. The kid in you is screaming to go back!

OTOH, the big girl in you knows that $700 buys a lot of Christmas gifts and goes a long way toward paying down debts.

You're not crazy, but this is not a case of YOLO. Disney is not going anywhere and they will have other party events. The Villains Unleashed Party is only a 5-hour event and they did a similar event last year. It's not a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

Happens to me all the time! Back from vacation - first thing at work is too look at rates for our next one!

I'd love to go to the villains event! IT would be SO cool! But then I think of all the crowds that would be there.... it will be so crowded, and hot, and miserable. And--they would have all the villains, but the lines would be so long I'd be too impatient to stand for any of them (and it's they're just some teenager in costume, anyway). They will have another one, or a different event altogether, maybe better.

Much better to get the CC debt squared away--it will take you longer than you think to pay it off

Ug, I know how you feel. My husband has gotten a new job and we are starting to finally be able to afford things again. Unfortunately, we have CC debt because of his previous job situation, that we need to take care of. Then I found out that I have the opportunity to go to Disney for a five day trip in Nov for under $800. I really, really, REALLY want to go. But, (sigh) alas, I've told them no. I've gotta get out of debt first. Being responsible stinks.
