Our youngest is turning 6 on June 22nd and I took him for a surprise trip on Feb. 29 for Leap day because we were able to get $40 each way tickets on Cyber Monday and I had picked those days having no clue Disney was going to do a special thing. We had a great time and he's been saying he wanted a baby mickey party and wanted to go back with just me again. Well we are planning a big family trip on Dec 1-10 and taking all our kids but I couldn't get it out of my head to surprise him for his birthday since we both have annual passes LOL

Well I looked at flights again today and found them cheaper then $300 a piece and I think I'm going to take him for 3 nights. Couldn't find any hotels within walking distance so tried priceline and couldn't get anything until I bid $80 and then added in Fullerton. Hope I won't regret that. Reviews on Tripadvisor seemed fine for the Crowne Plaza in Fullerton.

So excited he's going to get to see Carsland the first week!!!

Well, I hope you're not TOO crazy, because we will be there the same time!

From my research, the bad news first:
- Cars Land crowds (duh)
- Grad Nights June 21 & 22
- EMH for Disney resort guests to DCA is in effect for Wed and Fri

The good news:
- SoCal AP blockout dates 20-22, Deluxe and SoCal blocked 23
- APEE available to you, reserved in advance (DL Wed or Fri, or DCA Th)
- Cars Land OPEN! LOL
- Great weather!

I know we are excited. I say go for it and have a great time with your son!

We'll be there the same dates.....doing Grad Nite on the 21st and 22nd....thing about Grad Night.....both parks are open to the public until 11pm. I am going to guess that a 6 year old will have had a full enough day by then, lol.

The crowd reports for other Grad Nites haven't been too bad.....and June 21/22 are not sold out (several in May were).

Good to know!! I signed up for the APEE for DCA on the 21 and for DL on the 22nd. I was so happy to read the thread here, I was thinking we weren't going so hadn't paid attention. So now I have flights, hotel, AP and just need a few dining reservations I think and figure out transporation from Long Beach to hotel. That's the only thing bad about LGB doesn't have the best shuttle rates. Anyone know of good deals??

Your plans sound very nice and I am certain you and your son will have a lot of fun!
Regarding ground transportation from LGB to your hotel, according to the hotels site the flat rate by cab one way is $70.00.

That is not to say though that you cannot call well in advance to see about obtaining a lower rate by asking for such and locking that in, so that way your driver does not charge you more from what the previously agreed upon rate was made by you and the cab company.

There is a 10 percent discount for any metered fare from the link below, however it expires on the 14th of June, but... a new offer might be offered in its place.

Then there is Super Shuttle, which many travelers prefer, they will take you from Long Beach to your hotel in Fullerton.

~~ I love you Phil and you will forever be with me! Forever my very best and most special friend! I love you to no end. ~~

For those costs, I would suggest you rent a car instead. I just did a quick check at budget.com and pick up at Long Beach Airport on June 20, return to LGB on June 23, using BCD code: A376100 gets you a compact for $117 (with taxes it's $157). If you need a little bigger than a compact, same code gets you $123 for intermediate ($164 with taxes). And...if you need even bigger, then use Coupon Code UUCZ010 and it gets you a free upgrade (not valid on compact)...so for the same price as the intermediate ($164) you can have a standard car.

Having a car also means the freedom to go and do things off site as well if you choose.

Sign up at Medieval Times for their birthday club and you will get a coupon by email for the birthday person to be free with one paid ticket. That makes for a very cool birthday dinner and show!
