Okay, so here's the story. I'm sitting on the couch checking my email and, what is this, an email from Disney Destinations! I open it, excited to see whats inside and it is an offer for a room discount from June-August!!

Are you kidding, I live in a huge summer tourist destination, I can't take the time off then, I tell the email. But then the email gently reminds me of the Summer Nightastic ... featuring the Main Street Electrical Parade!!! And with new fireworks!!! The one thing better then Disney to me, being Disney in the dark! :cloud9:

So I look over at DGf and tell her about this once in a lifetime event that we just HAVE to go to, knowing that she will talk me out of it and bring me back to reality because she is the voice of reason. Unfortunatly, I caught her on a night when she too was dreaming of a place just a little warmer and happier then our home, you know the place, the place you can wear mouse ears all day and not be admitted. Well, DGf said sure lets go!!!

The only time we can go we decided though is a short 3 night trip in June (just over a month away). Which would only give us 2 days in the parks, which is enough time to see the parade and fireworks!! This little excursion will cost about a grand when all is said and done.

Is this crazy or is this normal behavior for the Disney Obsessed here on the DIS... please help... I either need to be told I'm crazy or, preferrably... to go for it, we all do it!

If you can afford it, you can do it!

Not crazy. Have a great trip!

not crazy at all, if you can do it, do it.

btw, my family vacations at your "huge summer tourist destination" every August. I look forward to that trip "almost" as much as the WDW ones. :)

:goodvibes Isn't it great to have someone that understands your obsession and will just drop everything to be wisked away to the magic? Not great for your pocketbook, but memories are priceless. I did the same in Feb with my DH when I found flights for $10 and fully expected resistence, but nope, not a bit. He immediately called his boss asked for the time off and in minutes we were booked for a quick trip.

I got the same PIN and email yesterday. We just got back less than two weeks ago from CBR. We were not planning on going back for a while. Immediately I start thinking of, hmmm, yes, I would like to see the MSEP and the new fireworks. The code is nice. How can I convince my husband and kids, who want to go to the beach?

No, you are among friends, you see. We are members of the mouse ear cult :)

Not crazy at all. I would take 2 days in the park right now. For me, December is too far away.

I got that torturous e-mail yesterday as well, and not to the e-mail account I set up specifically for Disney e-mails...my everyday one. I managed to save it from my junk mail! I think it's trying to tell me that Disney fits into my everyday life. I told DH that maybe we COULD go this year, even though that's completely crazy with a baby coming in August.

I also started planning our first trip with the baby in 2 years. We're moving out of the country for 2 years this fall, so that would be the earliest we could take him. Too bad we can't take rain checks on pin codes!

The only thing crazy is that you won't have enough time (only a month away) to adequately plan an entire 3 night trip, like a truely obsessed Diser would...
What about ADRs? Do I need a park hopper? Should I go to EMH? Is it faster to take the boat or the monorail? Do I have enough time to write my PTR? Should I bring a crockpot?

I don't think your crazy at all! I keep working a solo trip in my head but then chicken out of actually planning it and doing it! Have a fabulous time!

Not crazy.. can i go with you??? :worship:our vacation is the end of July and im ready NOW:dance3:

What are you thinking, asking a question like that? We're all "enablers" here!!!!

Not crazy.

But I think I'm getting there. Since booking, I've had a few Disney dreams: going on Soarin, wandering through Magic Kingdom, walking through Tomorrowland to use my SM fastpass. Typical dreams of the obsessed.

But, last night, I dreamt I was at my computer making ADRs. :surfweb:

I woke up this morning wishing it wasn't a dream: I had found an opening for Le Cellier

:cool1: Alrighty well lets just say, I am easily swayed!! I'm going to Disney World!! We shall be arriving on Monday June 15th around 10pm and Leaving on Thursday June 17th around 8pm :woohoo: We've both officially requested the 3 days off... and found 2 other ppl longing for a vacation who want to tag along and make it even more affordable!

Now all I need is to save extra money QUICK!! So DISboarders, anyone need, leaves raked, kids watched, snow shovelled, flowers planted, pets walked, cars washed??? :rotfl:

Ok I guess I can find a more conventional way to not be broke upon return, but then again, that's not that bad either. Anything for the mouse.

Oh boy and who can forget the hours I still have to put in figuring out EVERYTHNG... including the usuals, order of rides, meals, transportation, parades and shows, EMH, oh and where and when each person can tie there shoes, sneeze and pee. Oh yes, and the two newbies must have tye dye mickey shirts!! This will be a workout, or sure test of my Disney Planning Abilities!! :yay:

something similar happen to me. When I first brought up that I wanted to go to disney I totally expected DH to tell me I was crazy and not even entertain the idea, he didn't and within days I was planning it.

her was the email convo:

Me: I want to go to Disney :(

DH: uh okay, where did that come from? inspired by something or just random?

me: I have been just thinking how I want to go while Emily is still in that wowed/awed/amazed by it stage. I was talking with Denise about it yesterday. Going with them might not be an option because they might just want to take her as a special thing by herself. (i thought she would have more fun with another kid along). But part of me doesn't want to wait 3 years anyway.... Now I am itching to go :)

DH: okay well, I guess the question is...how bad of an itch?

Me: I haven't contemplated robbing any banks...

DH: I mean is it an itch that needs scratched in 2010 or 2011? keeping in mind that I sort of doubt that Danielle would be all that impressed with going to Disney world for her 16th Birthday trip

ME: Well that is sort of the problem. My goal is to be able to take her to Albequerque that October for her 16th bday. Not sure if that is her first choice but I think she would really like it. (balloon lift off - HUGE)

Which means that would be our vacation, unless we took a weekend trip for her birthday which isn't my goal.

Which mean 2010 or 2012. I am not sure we could afford it this year. I dunno maybe if we sat down and really budgeted or something. We *should* have a decent amount left over each month but it hasn't happen yet, although January had some pretty big extra expenses (Danielle's trip/Dryer/My trip).

Or I am back to 2012 which would be when she is 6 anyway. Do you know what I mean by that wow factor. I mean if we took her now she would be SOOOO amazed by everything and I think a little of that goes away as she goes over....

DH: I know exactly what you mean about the wow factor and I LOVE the idea of going to Albuquerque for Dani's 16th. So I guess we need to look at it this year. I think the first hurdle we have to jump is yours, we would have to drive, no way we could afford to fly. I'm fine with that but I know how adamantly you don't want to drive to Florida again.

Me: This is getting interesting...

Just ran reservations at a value resort at the very end of May/early June - and it is just over $400 and they actually take a deposit which is less that $100. (5 nights). This is a special though so we might have to decide something quickly....

We still have 5 days (i think) for you and me and one child ticket so we would only need tickets for Dani. Which if we want park hopper is about 300 i think.

But the drive isn't as long as I thought. I thought it was like 20 hours, but google says less than 16? It is 1000 miles, what is the price of gas do you think?
It probably wouldn't be too bad if we drove 1/2 way - but we would need a van I think.

I've been in planning mode ever since - now we are flying and will be there for 8

Yes, you are nuts!!!

We all are.

We are grown adults who send there free time on the DISboards so that we can dream of going Disney.

At least we all understand each other...

Nope, not crazy. We made our "once in a lifetime" trip to Disney in 2008 for 7 days. I was sure we wouldn't get to do it again before our children were grown (had one 4yo, and one 13yo). In 2009, we went back, and wound up spending 12 days, with free dining.

When we got to the room, that little card was in the room, advertising a bounceback with free dining for 2010 . . . . we will be checking in on August 15th :lmao:

It's not crazy, it's an addiction!

Not crazy, we haven't been on our first trip and I'm already trying to plan another in the event that we love our first trip.

My IL's live on the Cape and we were just there this past weekend. It was before Memorial Day (when things usually start to get crazy) and we were backed up for over 40 minutes (!!!) going home Sunday morning due to the one-lane travel on the bridge. How long will construction be going on? If it were me I would be getting off the Cape for a while and escape from summer on the Cape with a backed-up bridge. :)
