Am I crazy? - May 2012 w/ a Newborn?

Some backstory...

Our family goes to Disney every year, normally in the fall/winter. We love F&W, MNSSHP, MVMCP, everything about Disney in the fall. Well...my girls are getting older and we finally have to start considering taking them to Disney during "normal" vacation times. I don't want to go in July/August because it's SO hot and crowded so I thought we'd go May 12th - May 19th 2012. Add to that, we're SKIPPING this year's vacation because I'm pregnant and due in January! My husband (the logical thinker in our family) thought it would be best to spend the "disney fund" for this year on our baby room. I, however, am in MAJOR withdrawl!

So...with that being said, am I crazy for wanting to plan a trip in May with my DH, DD11, DD8, and a 4 month old newborn? I say, the earlier she meets Mickey, the better...my husband thinks it may be too much for a baby that young.

I need input from Disney fanatics like myself! We know we'll have to take it easy, and plan to stay in a WLV so we have a kitchen and nicer resort for the time we know we'll be spending outside of the park...but is it still going to be too much?

We went to Disney 10 years ago when my nephew was about 4 months old. It was totally doable. Providing of course that you are prepared to take lots of breaks and be more of a watcher while your other kiddoes do stuff without you. Just put the newb in a wrap or other non snuggli/bjorn type carrier and go about your business. Surely would be much better than missing a year, IMO.

I took my son at 5 months, and daughter at 7 months. It was a nice trip because we slowed down a little. DO IT !!!!

That's what I thought! My DH and DD7 aren't fans of thrill rides, so most of what we do when we're at Disney either involves a kid swap or riding the rides that all of us can enjoy together. I feel like most of the rides we all ride now would be more than doable with a newborn, but he's hesitant.

I'm excited to book it and start saving more than what we are currently saving toward the next vacation, but I feel like until I have the deposit paid, it won't feel as real! I'm a planner...I need lots of time to figure out our dining reservations, etc... Even though he knows you can't go to Disney without dining reservations (if you want to eat more than QS) he is the type of person to wait until the month before to start thinking about it.

Yay! That's what I needed to hear! Since we go every year, we don't normally feel like we have to rush around like we once did. We spend a few hours at the parks in the morning, go back and swim/eat lunch, go back in the evening, etc.

We are SO going now! I'm convinced! LOL!

Take it slow and make it a relaxing vacation. That age is a great age. Just remember to keep her out of the sun at all times.

I would not go with a newborn in may-june-july or august. Period! Found this article.

Adding that I thought your post said the baby would be 4 weeks old! 4 months is much more doable but its not going to cooler in may. Only cool months here are December-March.

Four months old is so much more managable than a 2 year old!

We went in August when my youngest was 3 months old yes it was hot but there were plenty of places for my wife and our boy to find time out of the sun and stay cool. some of the pics that I have of the CMs and caracters interacting with my baby are the best pictures that we have from that trip. If you use common sense and dont try to over do it you should have a great trip.
