Am I crazy?....last minute trip

We unexpectedly have an open week next week and we have annual passes. There are some good passholders discounts on rooms also. Am I crazy to head down there Tuesday thru Sunday with my two kids? Staying at deluxe hotel, sleeping in hanging at the pool until 4ish then having fastpasses and staying late at the parks, or switching to MK each night. Is this a recipe for disaster? We are going back in October and probably for spring break so we don't have to stress.

Before our trip, I looked at the dibb site for FP availability for the next day for the major rides. I couldn't see the times, but almost all of them had some availability the next day.

We were there Memorial Day week with fairly heavy crowds. There were two nights where we hopped to the MK after using our FPs and had some good luck getting additional FPs.

Besides, it sounds a lot better than what we have planned next week.

If you have the time and money, go for it! See if you can get a couple ADRs and FP+s and you're off!

P.S. If you're going to be relaxing, you might want to rent one or two of those SeaRaycers at one of the hotels (don't even have to be staying at them) on Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, or Crescent Lake (the Epcot Resorts lake as some call it). With the pass holder discount, they're less than 30 bucks for half an hour. Great way to cool off and have some fun!

You have the AP's.................I say you're crazy smart!!!!!! We're saving for AP's and we live in NJ...........for just the reason you discuss here!

Have a great trip!

If you can afford it, go for it! A last minute Disney trip has always been a dream of mine! :)

We've done this a few times over the past few summers! We usually have a break between the last of the kids' activities/jobs and our (non-Disney) family summer vacation. With AP rates and reasonable airfare, it can be less than a weekend away in our general area! Same idea - I take the kids during the week. Very fun. The only downside is that I feel a little crazy.

Just a warning - we always plan for these quick last minute trips to be at a slower pace than our regularly scheduled run Disney trips, but that never happens! Something exciting about the quick trip gives everyone more energy!

Heck no! That sounds like a great plan and not overly ambitious. Have fun!

Do it! We've done a few last minute trips and they are always such a blast. :yay::yay:

Sometimes the last minute trips are the best. You can get some great ADRS too last minute. Have fun!

some of our best travel experiences have been spontaneous last minute decisions. especially where you don't have to stress since you will be returning, i think if you can do it, why not? time flies and i wish we had taken more trips with DS before he grew up. once they get older it gets harder for them to get away from all of their activities. hope you have fun!

My only advise would be to ask your wife about this first before mentioning it to the kids. LOL!!!

Crazy? Yes you are. My cure for you is to pass your vacation onto me.:rolleyes1Have a wonderful time

You will have a great time! We booked 4 nights sandwiching a week at the beach two weeks ago. We are through the first 1/2 of the fun, and did exactly what you described. Since it was a more spontaneous trip, there was no pressure. Those passholder rates were exactly what convinced us! We even got upgraded to a water view from standard view at YC!

Very bad idea :)

You could be working. Or cutting the grass. Or having a root canal. But if you insist...

LOVE THIS.....my college roommate and I were bored one day, didn't feel like going into MK (maybe because she was blacked out?) but we used a discount and it was one of the funnest things ever! (definitely warrants a use of the word "funnest")
